I’ve been a long time lover of small coils hunting a new location for the first time. I’m wondering why none are being made . It could be I’m the first that ask for one . I don’t look to find it at my door anytime soon. All the relic hunters and one coin hunter in the bunch I can see why I’m sucking hind teat. Chuck

My problem was just the opposite to yours. I was hunting around a old train station and got this signal under a bush but the deeper I’d dug less the signal. Then I realize my target was above the coil in the bush . It turned out to be a nice gold in color watch still running. Your guess is as good as mine on how it got there. Chuck PS On yours don’t stop digging until you see the whites of their eyes .

FYI Make sure Pinpointer turned off . Had trouble with it on another detector one time but never again. Chuck

Forum Usernames - How Did You Choose Yours?
Ridge Runner replied to Jin's topic in Detector Prospector Forum
Reg this may not out do yours but here goes. My grandmother was taking a trip on a bus . She sit down by this woman and started talking. My grandmother was the type of person that she would find out anything about you if given time. Even to the point of knowing how much money you had in the bank . She always ask your name first and she did but with a shock to my grandmother. The Ladies name was Funkingshed . Sometimes a name is more a joke than a joke it’s self. Chuck -

I got Ridge Runner from a friend back when CB’s was popular. If I had to put a date on it I’d say middle 70’s. I don’t know why everything I’ve done was back when. haha Chuck -
Interesting to say for sure. The round looking coil in the center may be for support but in a way it looks like a dual field coil .. Just what is the weight of it ? Not that I’m going to run out and buy one ? I’m having enough trouble just swinging a 6” one at the other end of my Sport. Chuck

The first picture I’m posting is with the locking tab unlocked and the other you can see a little is in lock position.
-
You’re going have a hard time rotating the shaft being it’s square. The locks on the shaft is not twist lock being the shaft is not round but a tab you push to lock on a flat surface. Chuck

Gary Blackwell done another great video on the ORX In wet beach sand . The video is posted on the Skill School with all the others. Chuck

This is with the 9” round coin and the ORX. What you see measured 24 1/2 inch from end to end . Hope this will answer your question. Chuck

Gerry I had to go back and take another look at those boots you posted . The reason I done that I is I got to thinking about a trick that was pulled on this old cowboy. The story goes like this. This old cowboy had been in this saloon way longer than he should. He was getting to the point he didn’t know what end was up . Two of his old friends I guess you could call them being they had been there drinking with him from the start. His two so call friends was talking between them self on what trick they could play on their drunk friend. One said to the other he’s got is horse tied out front so why don’t we just turn his saddle around. After a big laugh thinking about doing it out the door they went . Sometime had passed and finally the old cowboy couldn’t go anymore. One of his so call friends pointed the way to the door where he had his horse tied up . He finally made it up in the saddle and the one friend turned going back in the saloon laughing. I guess about 30 minutes had passed and the old cowboy busted through saloon door yelling. Somebody cut my horses head off and he’s still breathing. Another in the saloon said your horse can’t be breathing if his head is cut off ! The old cowboy said I know he is because I stuck my finger in his windpipe. Chuck

Nokta/Makro Simplex Will Be Here By October
Ridge Runner replied to Steve Herschbach's topic in Nokta / Makro Metal Detectors
Write this down on the wall this is the year of movers and shakers. The only problem I see with all these new low cost detectors and what they offer is everybody plus their sister will have one . I’ve always told anyone wanting a detector is buy the best they could afford. What I did pay back when I can get the same detector for half price now . I know we’ve always had low cost detectors but nothing like we going to have in the year 2019 offering so much. Chuck -
Nokta/Makro Simplex Will Be Here By October
Ridge Runner replied to Steve Herschbach's topic in Nokta / Makro Metal Detectors
Tomorrow I go out with my drone detector to scan this 10 acre field. Then it sends back the location of all metal objects plus the GPS locations. The only thing left for me to do is grab my hand held GPS and a digging tool . The only problem I see is I won’t live long enough to see it . Chuck -

I’ve coin hunted for years with a single frequency detector and have the coins to prove it works. Now on the videos I’d like to see a depth test . In ground are air I’ll come to my own conclusion about that . Guys talking about buying the Simplex as a backup detector but if this detector is as good as it sounds it could move to head of the class. Chuck -
First Engagement Ring & Return At The Beach
Ridge Runner replied to sdbirder's topic in Minelab Equinox Forum
sdbirder Don’t that make you feel good all over to give back something that could have been lost forever for them ? The best part about this hobby is doing the right thing and seeing their face when you find what they lost. Chuck -
Something New Coming? Minelab Vanquish
Ridge Runner replied to Brushcreek's topic in Minelab Metal Detectors
Did anyone take note of the locking tap under the red handle like on my ORX below ? It looks as if you can adjust the grip on the shaft that runs under your arm. You have to be fast to start stop not too over run what I’m talking about on the Vanquish video. -
Something New Coming? Minelab Vanquish
Ridge Runner replied to Brushcreek's topic in Minelab Metal Detectors
Gentlemen I really hope you’re wrong but I guess it comes to where the most of the market is . If I was Minelab I’d take a count of the number of the Equinox did we sell . Then if I Minelab can make it better will they replace their Nox they have now . Minelab has drop their price of some detectors before making it possible for some who couldn’t afford it before. That was in nugget detectors as we all know. So nothing is stopping them from doing the same here . I bet everyone on here has a backup detector to their Nox and maybe one to backup the backup. This new low end detector is going to have to be the cats meow for me to buy a backup to the backups . I still hope you’re wrong but if not I guess I’ll say please pass the humble pie . Chuck -

Ridge Runner replied to Brushcreek's topic in Minelab Metal Detectors
robin You may not know this but extra detectors is good for holding up wall in your house. That’s what I’ve been telling myself to justify having more than one. The day one will do it all I’ll still have more than one . They may just stand in the corner and I may never use any but it’s the joy of having them. The day I can’t hunt anymore I can say “I remember when.” Chuck -
Something New Coming? Minelab Vanquish
Ridge Runner replied to Brushcreek's topic in Minelab Metal Detectors
Nuke em Over the years I’ve been detecting has been with a single frequency detector. I’ve still got a detector that runs on a single frequency and another that has more than one frequency but only one at a time . I’ve had a Equinox 800 and found it to be a great detector. Oh yes I sold it to try others . I too sold others that I’d had for a long time just waiting to see what’s next . On the statement said by you and made by another that a single frequency is obsolete I do believe is true. Not to the point you can’t run in a single frequency but as many as you’d like. For the price that Minelab offered the 600 and 800 I can’t see anyone settling for less Remember when you buy less ,less is what you get.. If this new detector from Minelab is less than the 800 then I’ll go get myself another 800 . A friend and myself have been taking turns kicking my butt for ever selling my 800 . I think he’s start liking doing it too much . I’m waiting like I did with the Nox and If it steps beyond I will have my money down. Chuck PS Another statement was made on the forum that you can’t do it all with one detector. Well just maybe one day that won’t be true. -
Any X35 Coil Users For The Orx Out There?
Ridge Runner replied to DeltaDigger's topic in XP Metal Detectors
DeltaDigger It wasn’t a true test for depth being most was just covered but some between 5 & 6 inches. The lineup next to the quarters the one that has a stone has a small metal loop and the ORX hit it about 4 inches solid. I was running in coin fast and no headphones. I know from past experience it’s best to always use your headphones but nowadays you just don’t know who will walk up on you. The Best Chuck -
Any X35 Coil Users For The Orx Out There?
Ridge Runner replied to DeltaDigger's topic in XP Metal Detectors
DeltaDigger I don’t have the X 35 coil but I do have the 9” round coil. I’d say I get good depth with it. I haven’t been out with it as much as I’d like but due to sickness in the family. I do hope that will change soon. What you see was my first time out and in a high trash area. I found with another detector it’s no way I could hunt this spot. I was running at 31 KHz due to the trouble I was having with my Whites Pinpointer at 14 KHz . Chuck
