  1. Hello, Don't know if this will help, but I saved this Ebay listing in case I wanted it done to one of my TDI SL's! I have been using one on the beaches that had some mods done! Just did a photo grab, so not clickable! Seller explains about what he can make!πŸ€πŸ‘πŸ‘
  2. I think you will be back on here pronto, as you suffer the same "ilness" as the rest of us; that being the "gold" bug!! Doesn't matter what form it takes, all I know is, when I'm not doing it, I'm constantly reading what others are doing and finding, and of course researching! Seems to be way more than I actually get to do it!πŸ˜‚ Gods speed, and best wishes for a speedy recovery, and many more "golden" years!!πŸ™πŸ€πŸ‘πŸ‘
  3. Good on you!πŸ† Another great return, and some decent finds! Can't ask for a much better day, other than gold and diamonds, and a bit cooler temps! πŸ€πŸ‘πŸ‘
  4. I've "heard" rumors of a guy detecting that beach with a foil "Sun"bruaro! Pretty sure it's F350! The reflection blinds satellites, and repels trash targets!! Next he's gonna try a "jiffypop" hat!! Nice haul man!!πŸ† Glad "your" beach goers weren't as cheap as mine!! πŸ€πŸ‘πŸ‘
  5. You are right Rick, I have used with great effect on dry beach (fresh water) recent drops, shallow lost items in yards, etc... I like it precisely for its "lack of depthπŸ€”", but massive coverage! Even if its kinda weird, with it's figure 8 design!! Also have both four and five pin "Clean Sweeps" for my Tesoro's for the same reason! I don't mind being considered a detecting "oddball", as long as stuff works for what I want! It look's like I'm sweeping for landmines when I use them! Guess if I wore a "Bomb Tech" shirt, that might be pushing it a bit!!πŸ˜‚ When I can find a good deal on a "gently used" Arrow, my MXT AP, and/or Technetics G2 is ready for one! πŸ€πŸ‘πŸ‘
  6. MXT all Pro with several coils, including two ultimates, and the Big Foot! And two modded TDI SL's with Miner Johns, and a Sadie! One of the two TDI's is in my current beach lineup on a regular basis! The other's a spare! They balance very nicely, and find all the right stuff; and junk! Love that I'm only one of two in the area ( that I've seen) pulling finds with these great machines! (the other, a hunting buddy, TYπŸ‘)! I like it when some beach hunters scoff, at my big camo covered machine😁!! Got a couple other's for under water (not the 800😑), Tesoro and Garrett, for when the conditions are right in the summer! πŸ€πŸ‘πŸ‘
  7. 🀫 Don't say that too loud Noah! That's an "oldtimers" secret!! And how we get a leg up on them techy "whipersnappers" with there "hi-falutin'" VDI'S!!πŸ˜‰πŸ€πŸ‘πŸ‘
  8. Love the bling and the ring! You have your own XRF gun?? 🀯 Or a jeweler in the family??πŸ˜πŸ€πŸ‘πŸ‘
  9. Was out today too, for nearly the same scenario as you described!πŸ‘ But it was a snap decision, and didn't get on the beach till 7:00! And was getting roasted by 9:00! πŸ₯΅ You know the rest!😏 As the junk finds pile up, there's bound to be a few good "morsels" in the mix at some point; hopefully! (Clover power) Keep at it, as will I! Gonna bring the turkey basterπŸ¦ƒ with me now, for the rest of the summer! And way more water!!πŸ€πŸ‘πŸ‘
  10. Nice thingπŸ€” about "older" tech, is buyers remorse is way less, and you have another backup/loaner! Or a horder like me!πŸ™„πŸ˜‚ On a bit of a more serious note, you obviously know, at this point in the hobby, that if you get your coil over it; no matter what you swing, you will most likely find what your looking to find; within the limits of the technology! Especially at the beach!β›± Now, when weight and balance come into play, and is an absolute requirement for you, the newer machines definitely "win" the majority of the time, no matter what brand, or pricepoint you favor! But in the end, Research, and Not falling for all the Manufacturer Hype, will get you in the ballpark for your ultimate decision!! Obviously, as that's why your here, and good on you for finding a great forum to do just that!! Keep us posted how it goes!!πŸ€πŸ’πŸ‘πŸ‘
  11. That's awsome, and exactly the information that will be of great help with any additional advice from the forum members! Good luck and hunting for whatever you decide, and also for your son, with the 600, and the hobby!!πŸ€ As an aside, if you do decide to go above/around the $1000 mark, my buddies F350Platinum, Chase Goldman, and more recently, PIMan; all forum members, love their D2's, as they are a tech persons dream, and find the goods! Maybe a good deal on a used one??πŸ€”πŸ˜‚πŸ€πŸ‘πŸ‘
  12. Hello Adam, And welcome to the forum! Didn't find you in the Meet and Greet yet, so if you could tell us a bit more information! I'm primarily a beach hunter on Treasure Coast Florida, so I'm fairly familiar with what your wants are! But I have never used a Legend, or hunted any closer to you than Hilton Head! You sound like you've been in the game awhile with your lineup, so I will consider you fairly well versed! Suffice it to say, that depth on a beach, can be a tricky subject with many variables! Hands down, a PI machine is gonna go deeper than a VLF single or multi, but has little to no discrimination; first consideration! Budget is next, and always a major consideration for most of us, so that will somewhat dictate where you end up detectorwise; new or used! I've used several of each on the beach, but prefer older PI's like White's and Garrett's! I hate "retail sticker shock", so I primarily stick to used detectors!! My ML 800 is also in the lineup, for "no dig everything" days on trashy beaches! And a couple other "dry sand only" detectors, that are standbys (Tesoro Fan😁)! Based on day to day, or even hour to hour sand erosion/deposition on "our" beaches, which includes a variety of sand types, depth is sort of a moot point, as the erosion, or lack of it, really is dictating the depth of finds, other than the most recent ones! More so, the composition of "your" beaches, and their erosion/deposition, shell layer, etc.. will dictate the depth that is ideal for what you are hunting!! Which than goes hand in hand with what your after!?! Meaning anything?, recent drops? old items? Water hunting, Etc.. This is sounding sorta teachie 😡, and long winded, but not my intent! Mostly I'm just trying to get you to narrow down, for the more experienced on here, that may chime in, to get you the most bang for your buck for your most sought after targets! πŸ€πŸ‘πŸ‘
  13. Very punny!! Could have been worse for you in so many ways! I think I would have taken a backup staff member as a witness!! First, at least it was a "she" that was identifiable in such a short amount of time!πŸ€” Although, you may have needed one of our "Ausie" detecting friends to do a "verify" for you!!😁(🐊CD) Secondly, a "boyfriend" answering the door, may not have gone so favorably; if you can even say that it was a favorable experience at all!! I would like and hope, to say good Karma will reward you on this one, like PI Man's ring finds surely will, but I wouldn't even ask for any return from that strange experience!! Just glad you made it out safe, and unscathed!! Yikes! πŸ™πŸ˜‡πŸ€πŸ‘πŸ‘
  14. Your are definitely an inspiration to real detecting detective work! That was definitely a test of your "metal" as a finder and keeper, and a good soul in general! Many would be hard pressed to do the research, or just let the "authoritiesπŸ™„" try and do it for them! That is definitely a "bucket lister" any way you look at it, and will always be something to be proud of! The money that was possible for resale, would not have lasted near as long as the feeling of accomplishment you now have!! That will never be diminished, or spent!!πŸ†πŸ™πŸ’πŸ€πŸ‘πŸ‘
  15. Walkerrj, Little late seeing your post, but just a little info, if your unfamiliar! The majority of Vero and Ft. Pierce waters are protected under State salvage leases by the Fisher family, and those who subcontract from them! So no water hunting allowed!!😡 Looking at your detectors in your bio, you have some very capable units for beach hunting! Now Melbourne and Cocoa Beach areas, to my knowledge, have little to no water restrictions, and at least two of your detectors are submersible for those areas! But if the detector bug is biting, then what Steve said! BTW, those are all my (and many others) stomping grounds too, so be sure to wave!! I'll most like have my camo covered Whites PI out there! (Not submersible)πŸ˜‚πŸ€πŸ‘πŸ‘
  16. Haven't broke it out yet, ( and it won't ever see a beach)! But I did have the Bandito 2 and the cleansweep out at the beach today; it works fine for shallow recent deposits! (in the dry)!! Anybody need a little clad and a bunch of tent stakes?? πŸ˜‚ Tent stakes are obvious on most detectors, for those unfamiliar, but I like to get rid of them, (and any other detected junk, of course), so no one gets impaled by one in the feet!!😡 Beach conditions here; and my luck, have been lacking since our back to back hurricanes last year! And renurishment projects only made it worse!! Also had the 800 with the 15", and Tdi SL out today, they didn't fare any better! In fact the Tesoro ended up with the most clad, not that there was alot! A couple of friends fared a bit better than me today, thankfully!!πŸ€Oh well, can only get better!! Back to the parks for some targets!πŸ‘πŸ‘
  17. Toys-are-Us for treasure hunters, awesome! Gold nuggets in lu of cash, or is that nextstore??πŸ€”πŸ€πŸ‘πŸ‘
  18. Welcome to the forum, Always nice to see when detecting is a family, or couples affair! Tis a rare thing! Lots of great info, and helpful folks here!!πŸ€πŸ‘πŸ‘
  19. Thanks Rick for passing the Pantera "torch" to me!!πŸ˜πŸ‘ And thanks too the rest who have added to this post, as information on the Pantera is hard to find elsewhere!! I'm doing my best to keep my Tesoro's in play!! Really gonna miss Monte Berry's expertise on them!πŸ˜” So any of you offering your "two cents" on DP forum is much appreciated, for any models that you loved! BTW, I have both Clean Sweep coils (4 and 5 pin) and the Bigfoot for my MXT All Pro!! Not gonna sell anytime soon!πŸ€” It's a sickness, I know!! πŸ€ͺπŸ€πŸ‘πŸ‘
  20. Tdi's, SL, etc... have been used at the beaches for years! Haven't heard of any major issues with them, other than if they accidentally get submerged! I have a neoprene cover on mine to help prevent sand and salt spray, and I keep an eye out for rouge waves at the water line! I can just cover with a trash bag in a rain storm! But generally stick to fair weather, as I don't want to be a lightning rod!!⚑😡 Buddy of mine (Pi- Man) on the forum, has been using them for years without issue! He also can work on the inside of them, (moded mine) so he would be aware of any corrosion issues! (Mine are both 2018 models)! But if it's a super wet day, I have a Tesoro Sand Shark, which is fine in the water! And the good "old😁" Nox 800 in a pinch! Besides, a couple good deep rings will cover the cost of one, if you get swamped! And I have a spare! It's worth the risk in my book, as I can put whatever coil I want on it! Miner Johns, Sadie, etc..πŸ€πŸ‘πŸ‘
  21. That's a serious bonanza for a Florida boy (and girl)! Unless your a snowbird, like a few we know, we never get to find stuff like that around here! Awsome hunts, and alot of hard work! Looking forward to getting my hands on a few pieces at the next meeting, when you and the wife show them off!! Congrats!πŸ€πŸ‘πŸ‘
  22. The Tesoro Gator, or Gatoro? Nice! Is Gatoro a word?!πŸ‘ Could have been another model for fresh water!! They missed out!😁 I think the Tiger Shark was a fresh water unit! I have a Sand Shark for the salt, but oddly it has a decal from each on it!!πŸ€πŸ‘πŸ‘
  23. Which MXT model did you find? I have a new MXT ALL Pro, and several coils, one being a Big Foot! But I haven't done any testing between them! Interesting!πŸ€πŸ‘πŸ‘
  24. That's a great idea! Glad to see someone try that!πŸ‘ Funny, the two you have, are one's I haven't owned! Did bid on a Mojave a few times, but the owner wouldn't move off a "too high" of a price! I've seen the Golden umax occasionally, but not as common as some of the others! I think I read that there was a revision of the first Golden umax, due to the two middle tones of the four, sounding too much alike! Some of the European models, like the Lazer, show up occasionally too! but are obviously geared more toward European, and older foreign coins!πŸ‘πŸ‘
  25. Sorry George, Somehow I missed a great post! But if I had to classify all the previous responses into pluses and minuses, I'd say that the pluses win hands down! And I think that this would be true, even if a million posted responses! I've was lucky enough to get back into the hobby with no opposition from my wife, ( rare, and always helpsπŸ˜‰) a little before retirement! Looking back, it probably saved our marriage, as I had something positive to transition into after leaving a rather chaotic, and angry workplace environment, after the municipality i worked for nearly destroyed our pay and benefits, and chased off most of the younger employees; which we told them would happen!! We older guys were stuck!! Not only has detecting calmed, and strengthened my mind! (and body 🀏) But has also helped fill the gap of friends i lost to better conditions; and then some!!πŸ‘ None of us walked in yours, or others shoes here, who may have come out lacking in some way in the hobby! But I can't imagine it was a total wash for any of you! In fact, if anything, I regret not getting "back to it" much earlier than I did! 30+ years was way too long!! πŸ™πŸ€πŸ‘πŸ‘
