  1. That is one nice gold chain Z!!πŸ€πŸ‘ I've got a beautiful crushed😭 gold pocket watch, that was my first gold find with the Equinox!! Found in a vacant lot, next to an old house foundation!! But no chain attached!!πŸ˜‚ The only "good" thing about the watch; other than being gold, was that I was able to trace the make and serial number, that was still legible! As I recall, I think the date of manufacture was 1917! Great find, and who knows, that watch may still be out there! And probably easier to locate than the chain was, with your detector!!πŸ€πŸ‘πŸ‘
  2. You've found my spots Pi-Man!! (JK) And I just got a new PI today man!! (No Joke!) We are going to have to have a Kevin James dual!! πŸ˜‰πŸ€£See you out there!!πŸ‘€πŸ€πŸ‘πŸ‘ Gotta PM me sometime, if you want to go for a hunt!! I'll do the same!πŸ‘πŸ‘
  3. Always love to hear about good stories and finds Chuck! Especially over a long hobby "career" like yours! They deserve their own posts!!πŸ‘πŸ‘
  4. Nice stuff Chuck, You should share more often!πŸ€πŸ‘πŸ‘
  5. Seriously though, A detector with the ability to swing fast, and still capture targets, is one of my main requirements for beach hunting! Low and slow is fine, once you get to where the targets begin to group, but you have to locate those areas first! And that generally requires a fair amount of walking, as some of the best spots are not close to parking areas!! Reading the constantly changing conditions is part of that! The Nox, and a several others do that quite nicely! And I'm sure the "Core" will too! Swing speed is not the main problem i see of other's detecting! It's the massive "Golf" swing that is a target killer!! Having the coil at swing apex, twelve inches or more, off the deck, is a big no-no! But I see it all the time, and it just means more possible targets for me!πŸ‘πŸ‘
  6. I like my doughnuts extra smokey!!πŸ˜πŸ‘πŸ‘
  7. I'd definitely be onboard for a PI like that too!! And l have reached near critical mass on detectors, so.... πŸ‘ As for the turkey problem, that's unfortunate!πŸ˜” But you can always grow your own! Just don't get too attached, come "chopping" time!! Besides, KFC is a universally approved substitute!!πŸ˜πŸ‘πŸ‘
  8. πŸ€£πŸ˜‚πŸ˜ Forgive me Simon, if I don't believe this statement! But thanks for a good laugh! Does the quote" When hell freezes over" need to be applied here?? Time will tell!! Love ya man! Happy Thanksgiving!!πŸ¦ƒπŸ‘πŸ‘
  9. Glad to see you up and back detecting Jeff! Didn't want to see you grow roots in the recliner! Looks like you have a better class of "losers" there, than at my beaches! Keep at it!!πŸ€πŸ‘πŸ‘
  10. I prefer the "Footlong" curved tip myself! Even had him leave my handle a little more blocky, for my hand! And beautiful burl wood handle!! But he will make whatever your preference!πŸ‘πŸ‘
  11. Definitely agree! One of several things I find irksome about the machines they produce, is listening to what customers want! While I realize their dedicated gold detectors are aimed at a specific audience, they appear to be resistant to change on their more general detector users!! Hopefully they get a clue, sooner than they did with the Equinox, and pay closer attention! Especially with others nipping at their heals at this point; and for less of an investment!!πŸ‘πŸ‘
  12. Been a shaft adapter on Ebay for awhile! Still a bit awkward though, with the handle protruding off the rear, but usable i suppose! The coil being fixed, and unable to pivot, precludes much else! Now, if the shaft were in between the coil, and the handle, it may be more functional! But the shaft mount would have to contain a pivot and a socket at the coil end, and a socket at the handle end! That would be alot of engineering, to turn it into something it was never intended to be! An adapter for the screw-on-end cap, may be another option! Either might be a challenging DIY project for some off-season fun!! πŸ‘πŸ‘
  13. I'd check with Chase on what concoction to soak in, since he is very familiar with the types of stuff you find, and soil conditions there!! I would say less is more! Weakest mix first, whatever you use! And value of found object to you "as is", to risk a harsher result!πŸ‘πŸ‘
  14. Nice day out Bob, Glad your fields continue to produce!! Wish I could say the same for our beaches! Thought the hurricane would kick up some good stuff on the beachs here, but only if I wanted to open a lumber and hardware, beach Tiki Hut!!🀣 πŸ€πŸ‘πŸ‘
  15. As always, I'll let you "early adopters" bring any shiny new machines, back to earth, with real usage! And work out the bugs!! Rare that the hype measures up to reality-based usage!! But somebody's gotta start the party!!πŸŽ‰ Good luck to you early birds!!πŸ€πŸ‘πŸ‘
  16. Welcome to the forum John, You've got some great areas to explore, and have explored previously! I visited San Fran about 10 years ago with my family, and wish I was back detecting then, to hit Golden Gate Park, and some other nearby areas! Hope you jump right back into the thick of it, as we can always use another detecting fanatic in the fold! Good luck, and be safe!!πŸ€πŸ‘πŸ‘
  17. Great job Compass, that's some banner finds, and conditions!πŸ‘ Hoping to have a little of your luck this week, as we have a late season, big surf storm headed our way! (minus any major house damage!😬) πŸ€πŸ‘πŸ‘
  18. Forget the coins! I like another fine "Trash Art" composition! I think a gallery might be willing to do an exhibition of your work!! You have enough of them now to constitute a collection!!πŸ€πŸ‘πŸ‘
  19. Ok all, back on subject please! Before we get spanked! Chesroy, lighten up man!! Simon and I go back a bit; no insult intended! We like it light here!πŸ‘πŸ‘
  20. Reminds me of some type of river/landscape rock! Something for size comparison, and where found may help!πŸ‘πŸ‘
  21. Simon, And here i thought we had that locked down in Florida!πŸ₯΅πŸ‘πŸ‘
  22. It's been mentioned a few times here, already briefly! But probably the least expensive initial route would be a good probe, a few packs of cheap home improvement store sprinkler flags, and gridding, with alot of patience! You can also lay out string lines, to be more precise! Think in terms of an archeological site layout! That would at least, narrow your areas to "detect", to only the spots that your probe struck an object, at your estimated depth range! And each of those would have a flag! You could also use inexpensive florescent marking paint, to do the same grid! It's not permanent, and has no metal wire to remove, or interfere with a detector! One other thing I just thought of, that would help to be less destructive, and invasive to the property! Would be once you have your probing done, and locations flagged; and if out of range of a standard detector (most likely)! Is to use a small diameter auger, or post hole digger, to get to depth, and lower a metal detecting probe/locator to the approximate target depth, to determine if it's a metal target, rock, root, etc... This would save alot of soil removal work, and speed up you "flagged" location checks! But 811, and/or utility location knowledge is a must, for safety first! Good luck, and let us know if, and how you get it resolved!!πŸ€πŸ‘πŸ‘
  23. That was a phenomenal🀯 hunt MN!! Especially considering the start! You were very lucky not getting hurt, or breaking your equipment!πŸ€ I rarely hunt in the dark, so I haven't fallen off any erosion cliffs! But in a few places on the Treasure Coast, they are high enough for that to easily happen; day or night! Not to mention the very real threat of a collapse, that can quickly kill you, hunting next to them! It happened to someone here recently that was taking sunrise pictures! He was later found suffocated, with only his legs sticking out!!πŸ˜” Your trash to finds ratio was also excellent! Hope next time it produces like that, there is more gold in the mix! Keep up the good work!!πŸ€πŸ‘πŸ‘
