  1. As I have updated ( with a little delay .. 🙂 ) my D2 from 0.71 to 2.0 this week , I spent some time to compare SQUARE and HIGH SQUARE . HSQ is a mix of PWM and SQ, I found it very efficient on my areas infested with old irons, using my usual setting ( SENSITIVE , 5 tones ) . I did some depth measurements on my home bed tests and it seems to go a little deeper than SQ especially on little targets ( < 4g ) , I dont know if anyone else has noticed this ... And HSQ do provide more audio infos on targets too as stated by XP . Long story short at the moment I prefer HSQ vs SQ but I need more time to learn/master it , at least 20 or 30 hours . Btw I dont use PWM any more after having used this audio during 15 ( ! ! ) years since my Goldmaxx in 2007 and my D1 in 2013 . First I wanted to change and second I find the PWM audio a little too agressive for me now . SQ is a very good audio but may be a little too filtered . HSQ seems to be a good compromise and I think it will be my choice ..
  2. Yes bad luck probably a faulty RC , XP will probably ask you to send it to the after service . However the WS6 works then you can go detecting with it and by the meantime XP will solve the RC issue. This is the advantage of a Deus2 full version ( RC + WS6 ) , 2 detectors in one then a backup is always available in case of failure .
  3. I noticed in your videos that the NFD90 signals on targets are ( very ) slow ( elongated ) compared to other detectors like the XPs , Tesoros , Teknetics etc which provide sharper signals .. I prefer fast signals because they give more accuracy and a better target recovery . And because they allow a faster coil sweep speed. This is a great plus in iron infested sites Do you think it is possible to update the NFD90 to get something faster ? thanks
  4. Yes videos test in real conditions are what we need . A side to side comparison with an iron trash specialist like an an Orx , Deus , and Deus2 would be a great plus . Personally in my European conditions ( nails beds , moderately mineralized soil ) I havent found a better machine than the 3 XPs up to now, and I am curious to see if the NFD90 can do better than the XPs ..
  5. Looking fwd to see NFD90 field tests in mild soil ( with and without iron trash ) , as I only have mild soil in my area . Perhaps the NFD 90 will work better in mild soils than in mineralized soils
  6. For me the Quest Xpointer Max . It is compact , it has an iron disc ,a very useful screen display , a li-ion rechargeable battery , a very useful OLED screen with the battery level and other infos . It is very reliable too . The best pinpointer I have ever used
  7. Not bad for a clad euro ... 🙂
  8. Hawaii, not bad for a 1st beach outing ... 🙂 Splendid pics and a nice story ... Thanks CPT
  9. And it is now available in France : https://www.maisondeladetection.com/100-detecteurs-quest ( Look at the page bottom )
  10. For nails beds I would suggest to use a very fast detector like an XP deus1 or 2 , a Teknetics G2 ( Fisher F19 ) , Tesoro Lobo supertraq etc . These machine have been designed for high iron trashed areas , they are easy to use and they will do the right job there ..
  11. I would add to this an internet site dedicated to the NFD90 where we could see the specs , price , manual etc .. It would be a great plus for this machine and its potential sales ...
  12. I dont really agree with this . I will dig everything in an interesting area , but a multitone is very important for me because it provides for example target size infos . If I have a low tone , I know that it is a small target which will be shallow . If I have a faint high tone , it will be a bigger target deeply buried and I will dig a bigger hole to avoid to damage it. Honestly it is very difficult to come back to a monotone machine when you are used to a multitone one , and I only use multitone detectors since my ML Explorer in 2002 ... I have an other question about depth . At what depth will the nfd90 detect a big coin ,say a bronze 10g coin ? this in clean and mild soil . Just to check that the nfd90 can be used as a polyvalent detector and not as a very specialized detector which can only be used in very specific situations ( nails beds ) . would be nice if you could show this in a video . Thanks ..
  13. ysabxe , the disc results obtained with the nfd90 in the video are impressive . However I noticed that the nfd90 signals on targets are a little too slow or elongated for me. I like fast signals on targets and I would have preferred more reactive signals like with the Orx. Second I would preferred to have a multitone than the current monotone . 5 tones would be a good choice I think . I dont know if these changes can be implemented on the nfd90 , or on a next version .. Just the experience from my foxhole too .. 🙂 btw is it possible to order a nfd90 from France ? thx ...
  14. It depends if weight is a concern or not for you . Clearly a 570g coil is a no go for me , I only use very light coils as I hate heavy coils . This is the reason why I just have the 9" coil , even the 11" is a little nose heavy for me ..
  15. I am not surprised , a 2 box system size is much bigger than a 9" or 11" coil , then it is more sensible to electromagnetic interferences ..
  16. Thanks Jeff I will try to do some tests to see if any change between V1.1 and V2.0 on very small coins from 0.5 to 1g using the SENSITIVE mode, as it is the only mode that I use at the moment ..
  17. Very interesting test thanks Jeff . I am not a nugget hunter but I am interested by performances on very small coins that can be found over here in France. And your test shows a significant improvement ( from 30 to 40% ) for targets weighing around 0.5g ( like your gold burundi coin ) between D2 1.1 and V2 ... I often noticed that my D2 was less sensible than my Deus1 on very small targets btw , good news this might have changed with the V2 .. 🙂 I will try to set a 1g coin bed test when I have some time available to measure the depth change with the target buried in the ground using V2 and a coin mode like SENSITIVE
  18. Personally I prefer the square tone , it is more "musical" and softer than PWM which is a little too agressive for me . Anyway I appreciated to change my XP audio after having used PWM during hundreds ( thousand ? 🙂 ) hours since my Goldmaxx in 2007 and my Deus1 in 2013 .. Congrats for your gold ring , its a good start with your new D2 ... 🙂
  19. No , I have exactly the same experience ... 🙂 I found the air separation tests to be not reliable and I ve done lots of them ... For example , a Vanquish is better than a Deus on an air separation test . In the field it is a completely different story and a Vanquish is much more difficult to use than a Deus in my local ( French ) iron trashed areas ..
  20. Very nice video where we can hear and see the MPV3 in the field . And Merrill speaks clearly and slowly I can understand almost all what he says .. 🙂 However I would not use his procedure consisting of changing temporarily a setting to check something , because it is time consuming and because you can break a button doing this hundred of times . I never change my detector settings in the field , except the volume .. I will watch this vid again when I have a little more time , as this MPV3 seems definitely very interesting ...
  21. Looks interesting , what are the specs of the NFD90 ? especially weight , power system ( batteries or lion ) , controls , etc ... Any user manual ? thx
  22. Old man-made iron items in mild ground as we have plenty of them over here . Mostly nails . They exist since around -600 around here , then a total of around 2600 years of existence , since the celtic ( -600 to 0 ) , the roman ( 0 to +500 ) , merovingians ( 500 to 700 ) , medieval ( 700 to 1500 ), etc Not even talking about 1st WW trash with its shell fragments etc It is impossible to avoid them here and I am wondering how a GPX would react on them , my experience with a GPX4000 was rather negative as I said.. However I have no experience with a 2 boxes system and I am just curious to know what kind of system would be the more performing on a coin hoard search for example ( say 0,5kg or 1kg coins at 60 to 100 cm depth )
  23. it depends on what you mean by toughest terrain . In terms of iron trash , Europe has certainly much more iron trash density than in Australia , and is very probably a much more difficult soil in terms of iron separation . A specialist told me that the 2 boxes dont pickup up small parts of iron , while a Gpx tends to detect a lot of them . Personnaly I have tried a Gpx4000 a few years ago in one of my favorite fields ( infested by irons ) and it was almost unusable because it was detecting too much iron targets .. Looking fwd to a side by side comparison test on a big target ( a coin hoard for example ) between the Xtrem and a Gpx ..
