flakmagnet replied to Valens Legacy's topic in Metal Detecting For Coins & Relics
They have some very clear YouTube's on how to use it and how to change the sensitivity etc. -
Carrot Pin Pointer Question

That response seems about right. -
Reminder For Some That Detecting Time Is Getting Short
flakmagnet replied to GB_Amateur's topic in Detector Prospector Forum
121 in Woodland Hills right now. 105 up in the hills at our house. It's strange and yes, weird. -
nice move, good gold. Stay safe and well.

Ouch. That seems like 'out of nowhere.' He seemed like a very nice and knowledgable man. I wish his family well.

Prospecting For Gold In Hot Arizona!

I drank a quart of water just watching those guys. If it weren't so danged hot I'd take my hat off to them. Thank you. -
Nuggetfinder Z Coils For GPZ 7000
flakmagnet replied to Northeast's topic in Minelab Metal Detectors
As usual Jason and Chet and Reg make good points. If the new coil has any kind of improvement in performance and is lighter, I'm in. -
Nuggetfinder Z Coils For GPZ 7000
flakmagnet replied to Northeast's topic in Minelab Metal Detectors
It is baffling why, when you have a chance to make a new x-type coil, with MineLab's help, you choose to make what is essentially a clone of the stock coil. That simply does not make sense. Perhaps it is more sensitive? That is the only reason I can come up with for that kind of an economic decision. Even if it is a touch lighter, does that alone justify the expenditure? For me that is "no." I hope I have missed something, because otherwise, I don't get it. -
Agree, at least with gold prospecting.

Thanks for providing us with a successful gold finding vacation vicariously. You and Chet make a good team. You are sure right about the manzanita, I think sometimes that is one of the main reasons there is still some gold left in a few of the motherlode areas, that manzanita was just too thick and tough.

good advice

I love the area as so many of us do, but have no earthly idea about the incredibly confusing geology. Every nugget I have found there seems random although I know it's probably not.

Sp01 And Booty Booster Alternatives?

JP's B&Z Booster is also a great product. -
Minelab GPX 6000 Full Reveal In February 2021?
flakmagnet replied to Steve Herschbach's topic in Detector Prospector Forum
I would only hope that if one day, when you invent something successful that you don't have someone make that kind of suggestion. I actually know first hand how much effort went into designing and making it and how difficult it was getting it out to customers. Chewing done. -
Minelab GPX 6000 Full Reveal In February 2021?
flakmagnet replied to Steve Herschbach's topic in Detector Prospector Forum
You're a relatively young gent. Wait awhile…that machine is too heavy for the majority of people. Also, and I don't expect you to believe me (which is fine), but the way to be able to lug that detector over the kinds of terrain you cover is to start using a HipStick now. Don't wait til it hurts. Best wishes... -
(pretty sure it is…)

Yup, that's what I heard as well...

Its So Hotttt The Nuggets Rise To The Surface
flakmagnet replied to wltdwiz's topic in Detector Prospector Forum
You have guts. -
I heartily agree, this little booster/amp is spectacular.

E6000 is good stuff, but has to cure as has been mentioned.

Let's see, that probably means I'm driving a pretty good Formula Atlantic car. All the best Reg.

I agree the 7000 has a definite warble over certain nuggets. I also agree (I think), with the shorter duration of a bit of gold vs a boot tack although they can both be eerily (and disappointingly), similar. I also remember hearing a warble-sound that was just a bit different but just as tell-tale on the 5000 on certain gold bits. fwiw.

I agree, it's uncomfortable in the desert. But I have read written accounts of prospectors in Arizona near Quartzsite, who in the and early 1900s would routinely be out working in 120 degrees. Those guys would laugh at us.
