  1. On ya Steve, I`ll definitely be joining this "fanboy club', and why the hell not I feel ML have hit the spot so to say. Something they just keep on doing. Plus as I age the body just resists the loved gold chase, coin and relic hunting can replace that for a bit. But the Z`s still my favorite and hopefully for more years, a few hours wander in the backyard yesterday refreshed that thrill. I`m excited..........
  2. Tis like most of lifes quests, an open mind helps a lot, keeps you always learning, especially as you get on a bit and find you are always forgetting, ah CRAFT disease.... now what was I on about............
  3. Touch wood, only used MD detector warranty once on a GM2, 20 odd years back, however have had a few claims on coils. Considering the rough treatment they receive and the environment they work in I consider MD manufacturers are pretty spot on with their gear.
  4. Crikey this thread is enjoyable thank you Steve, Reg & JR. Just a wee bit of friendly advice when you get Paul downunder, you`ve just gotta be strict with the lad, "don`t spare the whip" so to say. Putting him near gold is like putting a young bull with a mob of heifers. If he plays up, give us a cooee and I`ll be down in a flash. PS. You can loan the lad anything no drama.....just not a Z
  5. Wherever you are in the world the MD and coil options you have are to maximise your chances of getting gold, in the past I know some of the extra coils I`ve purchased achieved bugger all some do well, now because I have the Z, I probably will not buy coils for the SDC, but I`ll keep an open mind and see what the go is when one is available.
  6. Very true they are a top combo but you know I think back to this years season and I did approx 5 hours with the SDC and only to check out how it was with the Lithium batteries, but if the SDC was my only machine I reckon say a 14" mono would be the bees knees. The 14" size seemed to be the most used size for me in the PI days.
  7. Nurse Paul, Patience Grasshopper Patience................you'll probably forget something and be grounded waiting, (dunno why I suspect that?) just take it easy no.......keep feet on ground.............. capice no/yes. You US mates of Paul, control the lad........dunoo how but just do it.............no
  8. Whoops 500m........... patch obviously has your name on it, nothing to do with chance...... hope it opens up to be a beauty. Might have to apply for an extension on that culling directive you WAers have to cover FNQ............
  9. Good one BB, use Ozi myself have also found it is a powerful tool, finding me some nice patches, just never been as far as 500ks out yet. Perhaps your version is more "attuned" to gold then mine. Please give directions to where I can obtain your version, promise I wont share it with it with Nurse Paul and will only use it in FNQ..........
  10. Watch him TK, he`s got the fever big time...............
  11. Comes out around the Sth Hemis winter solitice..........
  12. Well he did say it`d follow a Toyota even up a lamppost..............
  13. Watch Mn, JW, could be an evil plot to raid your backyard ..........
  14. DT good to hear someone calling it, me I`m all for the smartphone as a RC and XP have a beta App that tries to "nearly" do that. But you gotta love that "low drag" shaft, cuts through water like butter, maybe the French will take up your suggestion and wrestle the Americas Cup off the Kiwis. Hmmmmm or maybe just some creative xter stirring the pot but then again ..................
  15. http://md-hunter.com/new-xp-q-mond-machine-novelty-2018-look-at-that/ Is this for real, why not go with the smart phone?????????
  16. Got a fully equipped experienced Sobby here in FNQ, be all you need for WA, make an offer quick, these deals just don`t last.............
  17. Too true, turn back the clock 40 years, set me back there with a Z (only me bugger you lot), all those myths about the old fellas or up in my area the Chinese getting it all. Twas just a myth as is that we`ve got it all now. Crikey all this eye candy is stimulating, all those "colours"............ keep it coming JR.
  18. Bruce used to camouflage the prototypes in various boxes, the Goldseeker 5000 was common and the blue Whites box as well. Immediately after the SD2000 was released, I obtained a late model prototype (from tester Jim Stewart) which had been used by Pieter Heydellar. This was housed in a red plastic Minelab "Goldstriker" box and was faulty. Ah ha, JR your ref to the goldstriker takes me back a bit, one such camouflaged MD made its way up here to the north. Twas a continuation of a magic time, we are very privileged to be here for the electronic gold rush. But it is not over by no means, I suspect. No big jumps like the SD over the VLF that we can see at present, but then we didn`t see the VLFs then PIs doing what they did until we got the hang of things. Oh for a young set of legs and tomorrows MDs today..........
  19. Thanks for that JW, same here you are most welcome, always a bed, feed and a beer.
  20. Mn, no haven`t had any success with Bogenes on the 19, but then again I`ve mainly been with sensitivity around 20, threshold 27, General, no audio smoothing and in normal if the ground allows it, which is so in most of the ground I do. But could at any time change, tis what puts the weight in the pocket that counts. I feel Bogenes is more for the 14" where one is on a noisy patch, that is superheated with a blazing hot sun and you`ve flogged it with all settings, coils etc. It reinforces the old Irish saying "never leave a patch til you`ve dug another piece" and I reckon that`s exactly what JWs doing, a good test for the 19". Heh if he doesn`t hurry up how about we nick over the ponds and do a bit of moonlighting...........
  21. Here I was 1/2 hour early dressed up with ML shirt and cap, like a penguin, standing at the luggage carousel for that flight, can`t miss him there can I....... mobile phone in pocket, checked out Virgins query centre, "sorry we cannot say who was on that plane for security reasons" still there 2 hours later, caught the lad as he returned from drinks. But twas an adventure and I`ll give Tangles heaps about it forever. PS. They don`t allow locals to go into the International restaurant unless they are accompanied by their mother.............
  22. I just shake my head, what can I say, except where the bloody hell are my chocolates...............True that is top service US & OZ Minelab, you not only make the best , you are the best, I think the whole lot of you are good enough to be Queenslanders............... Wait til we get Tangles downunder and in detention again. PS. If you are ever at an airport waiting for Paul don`t hang around the arrival lounge or luggage carousel , the lad`ll be in the restaurant.
  23. Am in same boat, mine`s looking a little worse for wear too, so far touch wood no problems but I did only about 100 days this yr. I think once mine does show problems I`ll approach the Treasurer for a new one and once old ones repaired leave one with each coil. Just could not see me waiting for repairs if during the gold season. That will save some of those crazy 19" holes in hard ground.
