  1. It's good to see it's doing the job for you Mitchel, aside from the 8" the 15" CC is my favourite X-coil, each have their strong points though, I'd be hard pressed to choose 😉
  2. User preference, I can run mine 35 out of 35 if I want to in some locations and it runs pretty stable considering, I've found 20 my sweet spot out of 35 in most cases as it gives the best target ID's with the new update, anymore and EMI and possibly the ground can interfere with the stability of ID's. Low end detectors tend to be wound back so they run stable even at maximum sensitivity, detectors like the Manticore, Axiom, possibly the Legend (I've never used it) allow you to go well above stable sensitivity settings so in the odd occasion you can use it you can really crank it up. If a detector runs perfectly stable at maximum sensitivity I'm more concerned then I am missing targets than if it runs wild at maximum sensitivity. I think 25% of sensitivity is too low, and I wouldn't run that low, but running the Manticore at 16 out of 35 gives great depth I think Equal to the Equinox, and very stable operation.
  3. If there is one thing Minelab are good at it's annoying customers, it would not surprise me at all if they've made their Bluetooth LE use a custom connection protocol so only their headphones work, it's how they roll, just look at their coils. I wouldn't expect anything less, perhaps they want to make a few bucks licensing out headphone manufacturing rights to some company willing to pay them. Fortunately for me I'm a speaker user so this time I don't need to care.
  4. Contact these people. https://www.centrevilleelectronics.net/
  5. Sorry I wasn't saying you were odd, I was saying the occasional person is saying the 12x7" is more sensitive than the 10x5" so I wanted to find out as I want to use the most sensitive coil for the small gold I have around here. The 12x7" appears to be a great coil.
  6. I think it's really cool you're in these shows Steve, I like the shows, they're entertaining, they don't have to be 100% real to be worth watching and in fact if they were they'd likely be a lot less popular as they're be quite boring. No show would want to follow me on a days gold detecting digging thousands of pellets to find a few crumbs 🙂 They're entertainment, not a documentary. Some happy snaps from the episodes They didn't like your shirt obviously and blurred it out, but were happy to keep the AT Gold hat on display 🙂 It's good to see Garrett getting on these TV shows, Aussie Gold Hunters is all about Minelab marketing, Garrett got their foot in the door once with the ATX when the Gold Gypsies dropped their Minelabs and used them for one season but it caused a bit of a ruckus. Now the Axiom is out it would have been a better time to do it. It's funny they call Steve a gold detector, but in a way I guess you could say he is 🙂 Cool detecting area, I'd be having a ball there. Just a 22 shell! I'll keep an eye out of Hoffmans, It's only up to episode 2 but no sign of you yet.
  7. I think your soil conditions have something to do with that Daniel, I find the 17x13" deeper on the CTX, just like I find the 15x12" deeper on the Nox. I like the 17x13" for the CTX so much I bought a spare one in case they discontinue the CTX and they become hard to get which they already are here , neither of the NZ dealers bother to import CTX coils as they just don't sell I guess or if mine fails with ears snapping off or something as that coil is my perfect coil on the CTX for my needs.
  8. buying one! Where this pinpointer begins to walk away from others is in its sensitivity to sub-gram and micro jewelry invisible to pinpointers like my Bullsye TRX
  9. It's getting pretty cheap for people to get into the hobby and get a reasonable detector, they don't need to scrape the bottom of the barrel anymore with detectors with no target IDs.
  10. Coins on edge equate to a smaller target, hence the need for higher gain. It could be a benefit to the higher gain settings on the 900 and Manticore if in clear EMI areas and mild enough soils to run the gain right up high, may end up popping a few missed on edge coins, especially the smaller silvers.
  11. Plenty of space if they make the elliptical a closed design, which I'm sure most would prefer anyway.
  12. My friend JW now also has a 12x7", I haven't used mine yet too busy skiing to go detecting however he took his for its maiden voyage yesterday and found these little specs He's got some sort of super hearing though and can find nuggets I can't. So hopefully mine works as well for me as his is for him, and clearly yours is for you Dutchman. I don't know the weights, I don't think he has accurate enough scales for these little bits.
  13. Their home market is Europe, and selling the dream of finding a hoard a two box like above is the perfect addition to that, they'll probably sell quite well in Europe. Good on XP for doing something different too, providing something that wasn't readily available and different, better than a clone product of another competitor. It would be awesome if they did do something like a PI coil for the Deus 2, I can't imagine it would be able to be powered in the same way though so it may not be something we ever see. The small elliptical and a firmware update to enhance small gold capabilities and the Deus 2 would become very appealing for me, add to that a large 15x12 or 17x13" deep coil and I'd be in line to buy it.
  14. The beauty of the 11" stock coil is it's extreme sensitivity for it's size. In my milder soils it keeps up with or exceeds the 10x5" for sensitivity while also providing more depth, it's problems are it's quite noisy which I put down to it's sensitivity however it could be the factors you've mentioned above. There seems to be also a large inconsistency in build quality of the 11" coils, I'm on my second one and my new one is night and day vs my old one, it was very noisy, went whacky all the time and just drove me mad, my new one is much better. Some people seem to get lucky and get a good one, Davsgold likely has as he's doing very well with his and not complaining about instability or a crazy detector and I can understand that, as my new one is much better than my old one to the point I'm quite happy with my 11", still concerned about it's dodgy plastic and ears cracking and so on but hopefully that happens while under warranty as they've improved that now on the latest revision of the coil so I'd like to get it swapped to the newest version at some point. JW really likes his 11", loves the thing in fact, it's served him very well, ,he's on his second one also, both of his were fine though, one just completely died out of the blue one day but was working fine before that. The 10x5" is more stable as is the 14x9", and hopefully my new 12x7". I've probably run more coils on these high end detectors than most so have a pretty good feel for how a coil will perform based on size/windings as it's quite possible the 12x7" will be the sweet spot compromise for me, not too small, not too big, the right sort of size for the common gold in my area without losing too much ground coverage. I find it hard to pick up the 6000 though when the 7000 is staring at me like I'm cheating on it and it's served me very well and continues to be the detector I like using the most so I usually want to take both with me.
  15. I wonder if it's a one off, something went wrong with the detector or something, I haven't seen anyone else having the same problem. If would be ideal if someone lived near you with another Manticore with the update on it so you can compare them. There is no problem at all in my soils. If anyone lives near you that's going to be the solution to the problem, you either know if you have to send your detector in for warranty, or if they're all the same after the update. If they are I'm sure Minelab will be rushing out another update soon! Minelab should be able to supply you with an update tool for the older firmware, even though the new tool doesn't have a way to roll back they will have a flash tool for an older revision, perhaps contact service@minelab.com.au and ask, that way you're not dealing with middlemen.
  16. That equals my smallest find with the GPZ with the smaller ones coming from VLF's. I'm yet to find under 0.03 with the 6000 but my time will come. 10 nuggets is great going.
  17. Nice story about your gold finds, got to be happy with that. Sorry to hear about your headphones, sounds like a rare event as I've not heard of another similar case so just some bad luck for a LuckyLundy 🙂 At least the gold would have made the day a happy one regardless.
  18. I've been keeping an eye on the Lira for a while now, the Turkish currency and it's just been on a massive fall against most currencies, in fact it's fallen 65% in the past 2 years against the USD, 20% in the past month alone. The Turkish economy is obviously a basket case causing this with insane inflation with the annual inflation rate at 40%, makes us feel kinda silly complaining about our mid single figure inflation rates. And if you thought your interest rates were bad in Turkey they've just doubled from 8.5% to 15% in the past couple of days and they're needing to go up a lot more yet with forecasts of 25% by the end of the year. This it the past 2 years of the Lira, look at it tracking right down vs the USD. And the last month alone, look at the dive at the end. The annual inflation rate reached 85 per cent late last year and the central bank burned through most of its reserves trying to prop up the Lira, down 90 per cent against the USD over the past 10 years. So what does this mean for Nokta's pricing? All those US buyers paying their 500 or 600 USD or whatever the Legend currently costs is a whole lot of Liras, much more than it was even a month ago, so does this mean Nokta can further reduce prices blowing the competition out of the water? Possibly. We can only wait and see.
  19. Maybe try a factory reset, not sure if a lingering setting maybe the problem, I certainly don't have depth issues after the update.
  20. Thanks Aureous, that is entirely what I expected, logic says a 10x5" with the same windings type is going to be more sensitive than a 12x7" it's just the odd person says they think the 12x7" is more sensitive. I don't mind, I expected the 10x5" to be more sensitive and I was intending to use the 12x7" for covering more ground as I don't want to use the 14x9" for that, it lacks too much sensitivity for me. The extra depth of the 12x7" will be nice over the 10x5" too when exploring around.
  21. I hope you're right Rob, I guess I'll soon see.... this little beauty arrived in the mail for me today. Time to put it up against the stock 11" and the 10x5" and see which is most sensitive, no point putting it up against my14x9" as I know the 12x7 has won already.
  22. Thanks for taking the time to write that up. Sounds like a fantastic detector to me, I think if they do continue to develop their multi-flex technology their high end AT replacement is going to be a detector to take notice of. I'd like to own an Apex and try something different.
  23. Oh, the manticore is much better in so many ways such as build quality, the nice interface and screen, more features 2d target trace etc but finding the coins I'm after at the moment I can't see how in my situation I will find more using my Manticore than I would my Nox, maybe that will change with time as I find new areas and give it the "first run" rather than going over done ground but so far I'm not finding anything I've missed. At my local sports field where I got hundreds of silvers I haven't found one with the Manticore yet that I'd missed in about 17 hours of trying. That kinda surprised me as I found 31 in total with the CTX when I first went there after the Nox, perhaps they're the 31 the Manticore would have found the Nox missed 🙂 There is also the factor of the operator, maybe I need to learn the detector more too to get iffy targets. I wasn't on the forum when I first got my CTX so I didn't do a post about it at the time but the first day I took my CTX to the field I'd been using my Nox for a year the CTX came out with 12 silvers almost all the smallest 3 pence coins I'd previously missed mainly due to depth and I think possibly they were on edge and the CTX gave me a better dig me signal on them. The other possibility which is likely is because the 3 pence comes up on the pull tab ID I rejected them with the Nox thinking they were a pull tab and the CTX ID'd them away from the common Pull tab ID. My dig decision on coins vs pull tab is usually depth, if the target is deep its more often than not a coin, under 6" I write it off as a pull tab as I rarely find a silver coin under 6" deep, 6" to 10" seems the sweet spot for silvers here, probably more than 10" if I had a detector good enough to find them. My deepest have all been with the CTX and 17x13" coil. That was my first time using it! I was hoping the Manticore was going to give me a nice surprise like that. For the two things I do with it, prospecting (800 is currently better due to coils) and silver coins it's not so far been a detector that's surprised me or excited me with what it's finding. People in trashy areas or more difficult soil or something may notice a more dramatic change, in my very mild clean soils I guess the playing fields are more even which is probably realistic as I honestly believe 90% of the coins I found at that sports field my Ace 300 could have found. I've taken it there a number of times randomly and my results were similar as when I was using my Nox. Beach hunters have clearly shown the benefits over the Nox, you're obviously finding it a lot better than the Nox too strick so that's great, I hope I end up feeling the same eventually, I'm happy with the target ID improvements now as it has improved for me to a point it's more in line with what I'd expect with the larger range of numbers. I use the Manticore as my primary now, but if I had to go back to using my Nox I wouldn't feel like I'm missing much.
