  1. -Multi function knobs (Push in to select) -beep and dig with iron grunt (threshold based A M) -screen or LED bar (Basic as a screen holds me up) #WATERPROOF
  2. I'll take one thanks :), sounds like it works ok to me! Cheep & simple Prospecting is very important to me, looks like my sort of detector that would turn a profit in a very short time. poor old GMT is getting some competion these days :( ...
  3. Looks like Minelab spend mor.... Nar not going there' but I guess having the competitors disqualified is the best way to win... and turn a profit.
  4. Web site always works for me? Try a google search and click the link, often my the web page gets selected in auto correct and it's not actually the correct web address...
  5. Dunno...it runs pretty good' might not be much of an advantage on a GM2 against the STD 6x10" concentric but man if you have a GMT and did the same test well, for the small investment I'd just buy one. The father in law has a GM2 "IF" I get the time I'll do a quick test. iv played around with his GM2 before and it didn't even like the 6x10DD...
  6. Nice vid' hoping I can share one soon when the water level drops about another 4'.
  7. Funny enough Iv had a rake identical to that in the family for years now maybe 60+yrs. its not for treasure hunting it was used to dredge The edge of dams for fresh water yabbies (crayfish), worked pretty good too' would easy fill a 5 gal bucket up in half an hour' funny enough it's now hanging up in dads shed somewhere as we all got sick of eating yabbies. it had a telescopic handle that extended twice the length as the one on the video and all we did was throw it out towards the middle of the dam and drag it out to the edge' in season 3-4 scoops would be too much to eat.
  8. Puffer! Thompsons 12v model does a pretty good job I could listen to a puffer all day long, set up any leaf blower unit next to me and every second shovel full will be in your fan :) get someone local to build you a wooden puffer even hand operated to start with.
  9. Looks pretty cool Trent! Have you found any big nuggets in the spoils yet?
  10. For about 4 years now Iv been meaning to do a short video on coin hunting with the TDI, well unfortuantly it's still not on my to do list, Regarding mods' Reg isn't doing them anymore and I don't think his guy over there is doing them either, I was doing them here in Australia but haven't for about 12 months mainly due to packing away all my equipment and traveling etc and that's about to happen again in few months time. while I'm travelling and stop at rest areas/parks I'm sure I'll get a bit of video footage in somewhere.
  11. I did not know this!!! Iv seen a few lime green ones about in pictures etc but didn't realize I could get a replacement cover. very good whites!
  12. I must admit I do like the bright color of the Garrett carrot' shame that whites don't make their TRX a bright fluro color :) and the on/off button protrude so I don't have to look at it wearing gloves...
  13. Since buying the whites TRX very close to when they first came out, Iv never even thought about another pinpointer since nor do I think I need one.... the TRX works for me
  14. Well not a bad idea Khouse, and I'd never actually thought of doing that. dont know how many times Iv put a nice long wood screw in thinking that will fix it and just as it gets tight "pop" the head strips or shears off or you end up with two magnets. last one I fitted I counter sunk the magnet into the handle, so far so good, worst about magnets on the handle is when it's in your pick holder on your belt and you walk past the car too close or go to grab something out... yep got a few good scratches on my truck.
  15. Here's a photo' all the smaller nuggets were found with the new 6" the rest came from the same area or close by' hoping to get back there end of the week. a few of the tiny flakes only gave the weakest signal when tested against the 4x6 DD but the 6" was a Better responce.
  16. Glenn's tuned in. only problem target I find for me is aluminium screw caps....most other targets I can tell the sound and ignore them' Dam aluminium screw caps sound good even at depth' most you can poke the screwdriver through them to disc them out as there soft but the deeper ones need to be dug. we have a little copper 1cent coin here a bit over 1/2" diameter and Iv dug them down to 9-10" The council don't really apreciate people wondering around with a spade in our parks.... Amazing how many of them Iv dug in a hammed park. it takes a pocket full to learn what not to dig but when you do it is quite an amazing machine for hitting coins. these are my recent coin finds,
  17. Well i'v been keeping quiet on the subject but... it works quite well, I did compare it to the 4x6 shooter on a few targets but swapping coils each target started to pi$$ me off so I came to the conclusion pretty quick that the 6" stayed on. sorry for the audio as I was using headphones "oh" and the naughty word too'
  18. Here's the next video, cleaning the bird shot out for a total of 7 little ones to equal 1/2 gram, the .3gram on the first video turned out to be 1/2gram aswell so... With a handful of bullets I managed about a gram for a few hours work. Language warning for those sensitive ears.
  19. Hey Guys, just a short video from a few weeks ago, in the video I quickly sweep over an area to clean off the surface targets so I can work the area later with the GMT, good example of using two cheaper gold detectors to your advantage. oh' don't watch it if your sensitive to swearing or dogs feeding themselfs. Enjoy, I'll post up another video later on.
  20. G'day Emoss, conductivity high, FGB 1/2, GB 4, Gain 4-5, PD 10' try that. sweep 2" above the ground but only dig round signals' ( targets that sound the same from all angles) ignore the rest unless your cleaning out an area, otherwise iron and trashy signals give different sounds when you sweep from different angles. a smaller single field mono works the best, Iv found that I can cherry pick Aussie $1-$2 coins with miner johns 7x11 DD coil, not many coin machines around that can do this effectively' but the conductivity of our coins will be different to other parts of the world, also the setting that works for me may not for you but just experiment a little' id say your gain was way too high' no more than half is all that's needed, and sweep off the ground a little to ignore tin foil etc. when you do get a signal' sweep as you lift the coil up slowly' if the target abruptly disappears it's likely trash, if it becomes a nice smooth signal from all angles dig it! easyier to show someone....but just dig a few different signals up to get an idea of what's going on, the first day will be the hardest.
  21. Hit both! Go over the area first then rake things out, one perticular spot I hit at least once a year is one of the very few areas here in Australia Drywashers were well known and they didn't work real efficiently either... After iv been over with a detector sometimes it's even worth feeding the dirt back through one of today's Drywashers. Only 3 little nuggets origionaly detected with a Gold bug the rest from a few hours Dry blowing.
  22. This all sounds too familiar.... I myself find that most days when I get out detecting I come to a point in the day where I'm asking myself' What am I doing here? Whether I'm digging up nothing but trash or not digging up anything at all....this is the point where you must stop and park your butt. "this is the moment in your life" if you don't like cups of tea you just drink it because it's easy to make and gives you enough of a break your not waisting the day away, also you won't enjoy it enough to have another and sit around... Iv got a small White alcohol stove in my pack' I boil up a cups worth of water' tea bag, sugar packet, (Iv collected from the local Takaway) and stir it with a stick' quick, simple and kick back while it cools enough to drink. if your organised enough the night before you would have packed a few biscuits or a muesli bar to nibble on while you wait. for me personally "this works", gets your mind back on the job with some sort of plan of attack, a good opportunity to swap out a different coil from your pack or shake sand from your boot etc... sometimes I only last another 2-3hrs and I'm done but at least you have given the spot a decent go before you move on and don't think to big' pick the most likely spot at the start of the day. Develop a way to Overcome Boredom and be comfortable, or find another hobby.
  23. I'm Using a bungy, hip stick and control arm. im only new to this hip stick and thought for a very long time I didn't need one but man I'm thinking of a spare one now' very very impressed, big coils for me this year! anyone that doesn't have one should.
  24. dont know about anyone else but' all the silvers and copper coins iv dug have been way out of screw driver popping reach... Iv got no dramas scratching current tender' but the odd silver/copper here and there will be a woops! No a chance walking around with anything like a spade ' the local council will have my A$$.
