Don't use permethrin on your skin? It's only for outside of clothes. Use deet on skin.

I want to know if "Deep Woods Off V Ticks", keep ticks off of you. Permethrin kills ticks but is Deep Woods Off V good enough to keep ticks off of you. There never use to be many ticks in northern Michigan. Now there everywhere.

It comes down to where you live and what you can find.

I have a couple scoops with 5/8" holes and I put a wire screen in them with smaller holes to catch everything.

Dan, a great water hunt. It's nice getting in the water when it's hot out and even nicer getting gold & silver too.

Wood handle is light and cheap. Floats in the water too. Stainless steel handle is heavy. I've never had a carbon fiber handle. I'm sure they are nice. A lot of choice in a sand scoops. I find 3/8" holes is big enough. I have a 6" wide and an 8" wide sand scoop. I don't think I would want an 11" wide scoop.

I know there are some who never want to dig any iron. True there not worth much.

I've dug a lot of iron relics with a Tejon I use to have. It gave a high tone on iron larger than a nail. With the Tejon you can usually tell by the tone that it's iron and can dig it or not. I was complaining awhile back about digital detectors not giving a high tone on iron relics smaller than a horseshoe. I have a degree in Electronic Engineering Technology and have now figured out these digital detectors how to get the iron relics. Take the Legend for example. Nails disc out at 6-7. Bigger iron than a nail has a lower iron id. Large iron like a horseshoe has a higher id. So if I want to dig iron relics with a digital detectors, just dig the iron signals that don't id as a nail lol. So having an Engineering degree I just figured out how to dig iron relics with a digital detector lol. The Equinox and Orx work the same way. Imagine that. So if you're not finding much, dig some iron. You never know what you will find.

Being in n. MI I have to take what I can get lol. I do come up with some old coins but seat coins and large cents are very rare.

A derringer cap gun maybe. It has a small hammer on it. To bad the barrel isn't there. I'll check the hole again for it.

Was using the Gold Kruzer w/ 5x9.5dd coil. Was in Boost mode with disc at 21. It is set right at the edge of breaking up a nail. Found this part of toy derringer. Thought for a second it might be real but it's so small and the hammer is so tiny. The handle is also split down the middle. Plus there's no barrel. It's id was right at a solid 21 all around it. Most detectors wouldn't have dug it.

It looks similar to a railroad spike hammer. It is trimer and a small handle goes in it and has raised 3 on the end of hammer. Like it was used to mark something.

That's a nice find. I like seeing that.

These were found with Tesoro Tejon and modded Lobo ST with concentric coils on both detectors.
