Very nice . I am not a specialist but they look like to be 1st Empire buttons ( 1800-1812 ) . Did you find them in the US ?

I have found similar buttons on a 1814 battlefield in France

I dug the French Navy and the 64th near Williamsburg on private land. I collected the others. based on a book I have that discusses French Regiments in Virginia with backmark photos. I know the French passed by my house in 1788 after the Rev. War. during the Campaign of 1788. Thanks.

I found my reference book. It's titled The French Army in America During the American Revolution. All fought at Yorktown.

The regiments are as follows: 7,13,16,17,18,26,34,41,64,68,70,74,84,85,89,104 and Navy. The 64th Suisse were Volunteers with

Count Rochambeau. They were of Swiss National origin. They were in the Artillery. More to follow.

I never knew that you were that old, and you don't look a day over 90.

Nice finds and a good collection of them.

Day Dreaming

It was 1987 and I'm working the many clearing sites in Centreville Virginia. These were some of the many confederate buttons I found there.
