  1. Nice pics Steve, thanks! Always interesting to see how ground looks like in other areas. Yup, dig n detect is the ticket to success in a lot of places!
  2. That little stuff is fun when its steady and also makes you appreciate the big lunks. Is that creek gold or dry diggins up there in Montana?
  3. Call me paranoid, but Im not sure I would want even more hf radiation beaming through my noggin on an 8 hr hunt. Wes- who still plugs into the 1/4 jack
  4. Actual cost on the 'labs aint that bad if you consider they hold a good resale value. Your "rental" cost is the difference what you paid for it, minus sold for. Some even come out richer on the resale. As long as you can cover the initial investment, then you just keep flipping the $ to the next model. Sell old model, add a couple grand to cover cost, and your off to the diggings. 1 or 2 oz always pays off the detector and you have peace of mind being covered under warranty, as they always seem to break something.
  5. It sure would be nice if the low gain settings are just removing the noise. On the sdc I usually ran maxed out, as low settings didnt push the softer targets through the threshold audio. At least that was my experience.
  6. For me the 7 is history and no regrets there. Just too heavy. Will I miss a few deep ones with the 6? Ignorance is bliss.
  7. Thanks for the great report Lunk! I only had a couple hours trying out my new 6000, here in the Mortherload county, but can already say, I wont be missing the old 7000! So nice to have a lightweight super sensitive detector again. I also noticed Auto plus, runs very noisy, so manual settings may be the way to go? Still not sure what benefit the auto setting has, but Im sure we'll get things sorted out after awhile.
  8. Awhile back I heard from Minelab saying small numbers coming in June, then main shipment in July. I got it in writing and I'm holding them to it! Haha Hope lives on, thanks Steve!
  9. I heard supposedly the main flow of units will be in July. We can hope...
  10. I hear what Jason says. The speaker functionality on this 6000 is a big deal to me as I despise using headphones and use them under protest only. Hopefully this emi thing is worked out.
  11. That would be great if they are looking into this emi issue. Here in CA Motherload county, emi is bad in places! If its already giving grief in the Australia Outback, I can only imagine it would not be a pretty thing over hear. Maybe this is the reason Minelab is not talking? If it were just a simple shipping/chip delay, you would think they would have already disclosed that. Makes you think there is more to the story than just this.
  12. Well, aren't you just a ray of sunshine this morning 😁
  13. So whats the story on the American bound 6000s? Still waiting for chips at the factory, stuck in a shipping container, hijacked by pirates and sent to Africa??
  14. I dont see any used ones on ebay besides that one which looks like a dealer sale. Possibly a demo, as it looks new.
  15. Jason, if you have a welder and grinder, get one of these and you will have about 13 picks from one disc. 22 or 24" works good. 3/16 thickness if you want lightweight. 5 mm or 1/4 inch if you want heavier. Plow disc I use 1.375 x .065 dom squashed down in vice for the handle tube, and Link brand handles. Some of the Link handles fit pretty good with minimal belt sanding. Just make sure its a nice tight fit and then add some gorilla epoxy when final fitting the handle. Ive made dozens of these picks in all different lengths and it has saved me some $, plus its satisfying making your own gear and good for gifts or trade to prospecting buddies you meet on the road.
  16. Wow thats a lot of used 'labs for sale there in Oz-land. Here in California the used market is dry! This forums classifieds has nothing at the moment. Kinda weird, you would think more people would be off-loading in anticipation of the 6000?
  17. It took me a couple weeks to sell my Z earlier this month. It had expired warranty but I was surprised I didn't at least get some lowball offers, as it was a good workhorse of a detector and the only used one I saw for sale anywhere, including ebay. It finally sold on Craigslist for $4000
  18. Glad you liked it Jason! I'm California based, and started using them a few years back. They really saved my skin!
  19. That 7 was always a back wrecker of a machine. Amazing patch cleanup tool, but certainly not an enjoyable prospecting experience. Glad to part with mine, and looking forward to a 6000 in my hands.
  20. You will like that shirt Jason. Get the white one as it really keeps you cool and saves your arms. I think they also have a more expensive ,with a neck gator built in, but the original one works great.
  21. Always something guarding the gold. In my area of the Motherload, its tweekers unfortunately.
  22. I wondered the same thing Mitchel. Rumors are its 1849 California there. You would think a leaked photo or two would hit the internet occasionally?
