  1. At 300 ponds your footprints should still be there by the time I get there. Yer nuggets big brother don't stand a chance. Betcha never thought of that.
  2. As far as I'm concerned Doc's gold screamer is the only option. Very durable with clear audio. Do you use good quality head phones?
  3. With the 7000 I'm finding tiny nuggets at unheard of depths but I need the threshold as smooth as I can get it to do so. If an area is producing I will cover it again using something near S.H.s "incredibly hot" settings. I use head phones so that the rattle snakes don't distract me.
  4. I've been testing Steve's "insanely hot" settings. I'm having the same luck with them as I have with ladies of the same description. Not so good. Here are my thoughts: The ground type here (Northern Sierras) can change more in 50 feet than some places in Nevada, and I'm assuming in Australia, change in 5 miles. It will change from bedrock to clay to volcanic to who knows what and then you add gobs of different hot rocks into the mix. I miss not having the Quick Track button of the X series detectors. I'm not convinced the 7000 ground tracking can keep up but I'll be the first to admit that I don't fully understand how to get the most out of it. But a quick look at the short history of the 7000 seems to indicate that Minelab doesn't know how to get the most out of it either. I seem to always return to my super quiet + high sensitivity settings. Its a choice between listening for the itsy bitsy teeny tiny (almost to the point of wishful thinking) variance in threshold or or listening to warbles, squeaks and squawks and trying to pick out a sound that actually means something. I'll keep fiddling with the settings but, being exceptionally lazy, am sort of leaning to the quiet side
  5. Thank you SS. I'll have a lot of fun with it but you kinda spoiled the surprise.
  6. It was very wise of you to put your beautiful find and the penny on an insulator. The dissimilar metals could discharge and start your house afire. T Au should have coached you on that. Congratulations on your find. Which detector did you use?
  7. Paul; Please , please get some R/C driving lessons from Goldbrick before you hurt yourself. He's quite good at it.
  8. OK. Since nobody else here seems to have the nerve to say -I will. My dear friend Paul.... Why on earth would you buy any detector without comprehensive field testing and an excellent review write up by S.H.?
  9. WELL! That there "D" sure as --ll don't stand for "Drachma" Thanks SS
  10. HA!! That crafty gold buyer didn't get to this wise ol' prospector! NOT THIS TIME! I found me a piece of gold with FIVE DOLLARS wrote right on it and I made him give me my five bucks IN CASH. That'll teach him.
  11. Glad to hear your back in business Chris. Does the bus have tire chains? Does Fire Ball come in family size at Costco? Good suggestions for ML. It would be well worth it for them to read and participate on this forum like the Nokta folks do.
  12. You, Paul and I, 3- GPZ7000s, a jug of Fire Ball, claim jumping --- What could possibly go wrong?
  13. Hey NV C. To prove I am a kind and helpful prospector, I have decided that while your out of commission, I will go out to your secret patches and collect cold and homeless nuggets and give them a warm place to stay. I hope this generosity on my part helps you feel better.
  14. I can explain the whole thing. It's not what your hearing that particular day- It's what your listening to. You can hear a piece of familiar music and think "gee, that's nice" or you can LISTEN to the same music and discover a bit of excellence that you may have been missing for years.
  15. Good point J. But the minute you post a location notice--It's a claim. Even before it's recorded with the county which definitely makes it count toward you 10 claim small miners limit.
  16. You can have made a "discovery" years before you post a location notice but you may be required, and should be prepared, to back it up. If you have 10+ claims for sale on your website and they are only recorded every 91 days at the local recorders office and not registered with BLM you are NOT eligible for a small miners waiver exemption. This situation would also make your BLM registered claims void as maintenance fees need to be paid. This identical situation was well documented and given to the Sacramento BLM office. Their response was "you are correct but we don't get involved in claim disputes"
  17. 1. BLM does nothing to stop a person from recording the same claim with the same claim name and the same boundaries every 91 days at the local recorders office. 2. The BLM will not become involved in any claim dispute. 3. The BLM will not prosecute someone who has been found to be fraudulent in a local court and violated numerous regulations in the CFR 4. You can float dozens of claims at the recorders office, advertise them for sale on a website and still file a small miner waiver and the BLM could care less. 5. The ICMJ knows of this fraud yet still runs this companies advertising (and lost my subscription and good will because of it). 6. The cost of litigating the above is about $5,000 even if you "win". A very good friend (and forum member) recently went through this. Maybe he will chime in and fill in a few details and maybe help every one here realize it's never cut and dried- even if you are morally and legally in the right.
  18. Scott; I truly hope your revenge is sweet. Please post dog picture.
  19. You can thank N McQ and myself for scattering hundreds of pounds of logging cable shards through out the Northern Sierras. The thick ground cover does make ground balancing easier and allows for higher gain settings on the X models and higher sensitivity on the Z and allows me to be lazy and drag my coil on the ground.----- I much prefer damp conditions.
  20. I believe about half of the 7000s from tis area have had to be returned (maybe only 40%) but the turnaroundt times were very good and I heard no complints about Minelab service. This reminds me of the 4000. They knew darned well that they had a problem with the push button power switch and ribbon cable but continued to sell them that way for a long time. If there is a bad batch of 7000s with a screen fault and there is an upgrade in a later model I wish they would let us know and I would try to get the faulty one replaced in the off season. Then I would think very highly of Minelab customer support.
  21. Why can't all of these JEENYUSEZ come up with an armstrap that will fit over my coat sleeve? When it comes to the 7000, I am amazed at both the technology and the lack of common sense. Please refer to my post on January 30, 2015.
  22. PAHLEEZE SS. No more dirty pictures. Ordered up some Rosetta Stone CDs called "How to Speak Australian" in just 73 easy lessons.
