Doc Hoilday, Your funny...but comfortable! LuckyLundy -
Paul, Just got my Pro Swing 45. Got it all together, I think I got it adjusted right. Feels great with the GPX & SDC attached to it. I'll be out using it on Thursday and get it fine tuned. Rick

BlackBird, That old saying "it feels different". Everything is set up for your dominant hand side, but I will switch for a few minutes to rest my dominant (right) arm. Rick -

GPZ 7000 40% More Depth - Really?
LuckyLundy replied to goldbrick's topic in Minelab Metal Detectors
Chris, your more than right the SDC 2300 finds gold and Robin & I have a fat poke of nuggets to prove it. Merton, you can swing my 2300 on your next visit and just maybe the 7000 too! 40% deeper? All I need is 10% deeper! Steve, wieght and ergonomics needs to be improved, my poor shoulder wants it. Not the current generation, maybe the next? LuckyLundy -
I was a fence sitter with the SDC 2300, until I got to swing one on and old patch. You can read what others post about their review of a detector and then read between the lines. I've ran into countless prospector's in the field with their new detectors saying so and so story inspired them so that they ran out and purchased one. I'm not from Missouri, but I do like to kick the tires before I purchase. You can show me the gold you found with the product, but I didn't find it. I will have to have one in my hands, just like the 2300...but, I won't wait as long...lol. It had me at 40% deeper and I was only looking for 10% deeper! LuckyLundy

Paul, I just ordered one! I will give a report Rick

Pinpointing with the SDC 2300
LuckyLundy replied to Sourdough Scott's topic in Minelab Metal Detectors
The 2300, isn't the best pin pointing coil out there. Seems the outside coil is dead to me? Hot spot on the coil is like a half inch from outer edge of coil. On small dinks, I scooping up dirt like a backhoe trying to find my target. Larger nuggets I'll find in my first scoop, but them little guys I hear what your saying! If your in a trashy area, I will scrape my magnet on the end of my pick in the pile of dirt before I kneel down to recovery my target. Bottom line is this machine finds gold, find that target! LuckyLundy -
Steve, Hey, how do you like the Pro Swing 45? Does it work as advertised! I'm out 4 to 5 days a week with a GPX or SDC and I've yet to find a comfy rig without feeling it in my shoulder by the end of the day. Haven't found that much to read about its reviews either. Thanks in Advance, Rick

Calgeo, Not all hydro pits are what you'd expect them to be! I forgot what detector you use, but your best bet is to run around your pit with a GoldBug2. This detector will tell you fast if there is detectable gold in a hydro pit and where. Your pit vast majority of the gold maybe small GB2 good only? Remember, the spots that the GB2 produced and then you can try your GPX for deeper larger nuggets, 11" or 8" coil is big enough to start with. I've hunted countless hydro pits and only a few are worth going back to, the rest of them makes you wonder if the old timers just needed something to do...lol Hope you find the sweet spot! LuckyLundy

If your right handed, any larger metal object in your right pant pocket will make this unit false. You can run a metal object over the none speaker side of this unit and it will false. Don't tell everyone this, it's a secret I use in the gold patches, I have a buddy hold my truck keys in his right pocket...lol LuckyLundy

Expert Detectorists Skills and Habits
LuckyLundy replied to Sourdough Scott's topic in Metal Detector Advice & Comparisons
There is a ton of learned information to learn on all the Prospecting Forums! You need to be in a gold zone and research is important to have your coil over gold bearing ground. Your equipment/metal detector needs to be researched and it's easy to find out which metal detector is the hottest for gold on all the prospecting forums. Each detector is a tool in the tool box. My GPX is my Varsity Star, it has found Sunbakers to nuggets close to two feet deep...everyone knows what these units can do. My GoldBug2, is a blast and if the ground is mild with plenty of small gold it's deadly. It will find gold that the GPX wouldn't think about wasting it's time to beep on and has filled countless poke bottles with it. My new SDC 2300, runs in hot ground that my GoldBug2 doesn't operated to it fullest. Plus, it finds the stealth nuggets that my GPX can't hear. A slow stealing swing is important with all detectors! Like the song says "These are a few of my Favorite Things". Until the next hunt LuckyLundy -
The SDC 2300, isn't for everyone! Gain at 5 and Threshold at 3 my knobs are superglued to insure my confidence level is at max like my machine. Yes, you have to listen through the warble and I've tested all the gain settings and thresholds. These setting above have giving me the best results. Unlike the Big Brother GPX models that run as smooth as glass...this machine finds the stealth nuggets for those that can stand the warble. LuckyLundy

How Small Is Your Smallest Piece Of SDC 2300 Gold?
LuckyLundy replied to rumblefish's topic in Minelab Metal Detectors
Here's my smallest! It's in Grains. I've detected other targets that I could not locate after it got them out that had to be smaller...lol. My die hard GPX buddies ask me how can you build your monthly poke up with them little nuggets? I tell them just like you, One nugget at a time! Until the next hunt LuckyLundy -
So What Is Inside That DD Coil?
LuckyLundy replied to Steve Herschbach's topic in Metal Detector Advice & Comparisons
Them Minelab Coils are tough as nails! As you know with a metal detecting Wife, I have to have two of everything. I have 10 Minelab coils and two NuggetFinder Coils. My opinion, is Commander Coils hands down are the best and I don't treat mine easy. That big 12x15 DD coil is one of my Favs for patch hunting. Seems to skip right over small lead birdshot and I've found nuggets from sun bakers to well over 12" deep. Steve, hope you get that going on your ATX! LuckyLundy
