  1. No marks at all, had to do an acid test. This year I'm only 68 rings behind you LOL
  2. Hit local park and swapped my standard mode to normal mode on my MK for water hunting and figured I would try to get used to the normal number scale. Forgot what was trash and hand a nice round signal so I dug it anyways, came in solid 54 where nickels come in at 31ish. Turned out to be a nice 18k 4g wedding band few inches down. Was only out for less than an hour. Included all my wonderful trash.
  3. Lifetime warranty on electronics is a bad idea, parts do break down. Think that was one of the contributing factors to Tesoros demise besides no real new machines. I bought a few things from Kellyco, not all that bad a company but their customer support seems to get overwhelmed and can take a while for response back. Overall if I buy something from them I get it in 2 days (not including the new post office fiasco). Dog did you try contacting Nokta directly? https://www.noktadetectors.com/contact-us/ Try filling out the web form on the side of the site. Give them a week and they should get back to you. I never talked or dealt with the USA office. Tempted to snag a Gold Racer but if they have killed off support for the USA then I would be better off snagging a Whites machines since they still honor their warranty.
  4. The MK should be incredible with that coil, guessing slightly deeper if even noticeable to the Nokta 11" but much lighter. The fact it doesn't have a slew of reinforcement ribs on top would make it so much easier water hunting. Almost tempted to get one for a Gold Racer... 56khz with that coil could be fun in parks.
  5. Been keeping my eyes out for the Nel Super Fly or CORS Butterfly 12w X 11 long coil. Weighs 420g. Seen some for Garrett AT Series and ML Soverign. https://corscoils.com/product/butterfly/ Hopefully more will come over to the states. Looking for a bigger coil for my MK.
  6. Sidebone horseshoe, that sun dial I would have passed over. Like to keep my targets small enough to fit in my pouch and light enough my pants stay up.
  7. Buddy mine is looking to snag one, be a good upgrade to his ace 200 with the worn out pp button. I believe much of Garrett's loyalty is because of their customer support and stable products. Much like White's customer base. I have a feeling they will do well with it.
  8. I tried out 89 on gain and it seems that recover speed is adjusted per 10 so 80-89 is the same. Want to thank you for that. I have changed my tone breaks so I can use normal mode instead of standard. Main reason I have started to do more water hunting in some brackish water where I am combating high iron patches and salinity. Sometimes the 19khz can get a bit noisy on iron and the lower khz work better as the salt creaps up. I am also finding myself using more Gen Mode in the tough areas as I can hear the target better through the mineralization. Eventually I'll throw in the towell and bring my PI but for now will put the MK through it's paces. :)
  9. Quick update. I have a vibratory tumbler I use for some my metal finishing and for kicks I used the carbon steel shot and the tumbling soap you can find from jewerly suppliers. https://contenti.com/910-tumbling-soap-powder Here is a comparison of how it does with a 2 1/2 hour run time. Note the carbon shot is non abrasive. Some youtube videos show people using stones which I assume will wear the coins down, this simply knocks the dirt off. The soap is doing much of the work.
  10. AT Pro was tough to use in the salt, black sand made it useless up here. I wouldn't count dry sand as a test as that would be the easiest for any detector and almost borderline air test for that matter. Over all looks like a descent machine with descent audio. Not really an option for me as I hunt more in all metal mode so I can hear the targets clearly.
  11. Good haul. Hand cramped up from digging or that old english? :)
  12. Sounds like the anodizing wore off if it had any at all. You could try shelac and give it a little coat or some truck bed liner or plasti dip and give it a grippy coat.
  13. Nice one, poor bugger that wore it probably has a crooked neck from that weight!
  14. When wading I usually have the control box submerged for easily a couple hours at a time if not more. On lakes or streams you could always work your way between deep and shallow water so it isn't dunked for long periods of time.
  15. Profind 35 will work fine with those. Hopefully the new batches don't have the quality issues many ran into.
  16. I run my MK with an external battery pack and swap to internal as a backup. Other day I was water hunting and didn't have a dry pouch to toss the expired batteries into and realized that the external connector cable doesn't have a protective cap. Usually I just pull the pack, toss it in my pouch and connect the cable to the headphone connector to keep it clean. I didn't want to do that with a battery pack inside as it could risk shorting out if there is some residual power in them. I made a quickie rubber boot similar to the one they have for the female connector. This is the first working prototype. May have to make some adjustments depending how it holds up. Anyone interested I can post the cad files if they want to fiddle with them.
  17. Which detector are you planning on using it with? If there are too similar in frequency they will interfere with each other. I don't think that is an issue with a pi pointer like the f-pulse.
  18. Not sure if the z-link will work with other devices, it may work with some. This is their rollout: https://garrett.com/accessories/zlynk Wireless kit is with the proprietary connectors work with Ace series, AT Series, ATX and Seahunter. Not sure how the carrot works with just the transmitter I think you might need the reciever too? They seem kind of vague on this.
  19. Can you print with the graphite infused nylon and abs? Might make for better coil shells.
  20. I tend to keep the 3 tone gain down and use it for it's fast recovery in parks at 19khz so I can pick through high trash areas. 4 tone will isolate targets very well when swung slowly but can be hard to follow at times. Recovery speed is slower as gain is higher as there is more to process. In low mineraliztion the recover speed seems to be less effected. I wish they added a sensitivity control in conjunction with the gain control. This would allow us to reduce the chatter from the ground as well as control the depth of the search. My Tejon sensitivity only controls sensitivity and even on it's lowest setting still hits close to the same depth so cranking it up makes it more sensitive to small targets at depth. IE: finding 22 cal rounds at 6"+ is not uncommon. The AT Pro sensitivity effects both sensitivity and gain. I think Garrett just balanced and paired them for ease of use. This makes for easy adjusting but find if controls were independant then it would be more effective at beaches. 2 tone, 4 tone and deep mode you really need to keep that coil close to the ground, this really helps with the chatter. Been using 2 tone quite a bit in the water and seems a bit quieter. Helped me find a beat up king george last weekend. Please post any tweaks, love to try them out.
  21. Steel isn't strong enough where it connects to the blade. Ideally using the same metal then tempering the entire shovel would be best but probably not cost effective. The oven size is also an issue. I have the ground shark that is really beefy and well made that I doubt will bend but I find it pretty hefty to lug around all day. It is welded similar but has a beefy piece of angle welded on the back and serves as a foot peg.
  22. Just saw the post, thank you. Did you have a change to put it through it's paces? Any questions or issues feel freee to hollar.
