  1. Hit a new spot that used to have car shows on the field so it is a haven for trash. Enough iron there to sound like a loud threshold hum so I only spent an hour scouting it out and bit of cherry picking. Usual clad in the shadded areas and this tiny bell button that rang in the gold range but it is just tiny and bronze. Had a bit of trouble looking for it as it was dark and not the aluminum or gold color I was looking for. Will be hitting that are again as the woods are old. Should be great this fall/winter as it is mostly pines.
  2. They toy pistol is pretty cool, bronze thing looks like it was cast and had gas bubbles leaving the divots on one side. Posssibly used as a fishing net weight? I only found one complete crotel bell, usually find lots of pieces of them in the fields. The peices sound way better than they look.
  3. Meant shaft sorry for the typo. Could be a rotary light switch but not sure. Seems too long.
  4. Hole looks like it has a keyway on it. Thinking a cover of some sorts that fit over a shave that had a keyway on it. Maybe the gear or knurl portion was to turn the keyway. Guessing some sorts of machinery or farm equipment?
  5. Been using Maps3d Pro here with OSM option on layers that shows public property (green shaded). Only beef is you need to download the sections your going to use and will quite a bit of space on your phone.
  6. Didn't see the older post you had on the comparison of the F75 and Nox. Maybe that 15" coil will find those deep coins. I am still thinking you will do better in the woods surrounding the area than the open field that has been worked over xxtimes.
  7. My only beef with the Nokta stock coil is they have the ribs to strengthen them that make them hard to swing in the water. I see the 2 new coils don't have those ribs on top. How do they compare to the stock coil for water hunting?
  8. Rather see how one the members here does with one.
  9. How good are the Coob scoops? Think they are in the same price range.
  10. If you still have your F75 you may want to check this coil out: https://corscoils.com/product/butterfly/ 12" wide and weighs 420g lighter than most stock coils. Don't know any dealers that carry them yet but thinking it would work good on my MK.
  11. At least they keep in contact with their customers and didn't just close the doors and tell everyone to go home without warning.
  12. Buddy has the Nox 12x15 coil and think it only goes a little deeper maybe an inch or so. He uses it more to cover more ground in open fields (low trash). 11" coil should do fine. PI will not be effected as much by mineralization so they would achieve a better depth compared to an IB machine with similar coil width though I really think my Seahunter hits deeper in the ground than in an air test. I would give the Nox a try with the 11" coil and just get the gain up as high as conditions will allow. Just dig those whispers if they sound small enough.
  13. Both Garrett mono coils work well really well in the water, I do kind of favor the 8" over the larger one. That's a good idea on the dip, might patch the chip and coat it all. I have some truck bed liner coating that should be good.
  14. TDI might be tough especially with gb off. Ground really that bad that you need a pi? Early mornings might be cool enough, blazingly hot in afternoons and evenings here but mornings are tolerable. I save all my woods hunting for fall and winter as the undergrowth is down and easier to see what the ground looks like.
  15. Foam filled solid coil might be hard to swing in the water and might be too buoyant. I have used the 8" Garrett mono on my SHMK2 and it handles nice in the water. There is also the 10x14 mono that gives bit more depth and covers more area but I find it hard to pinpoint with, usually end up using the edges of the coil to narrow my dig. Do want to point out that the Garrett coils can be prone to chipping if you bang them good. Wish they made a coil cover for it.
  16. All this bug repellent talks reminds me when I told my cousin that Avon Skin So Soft is the best thing for bugs as a joke. He loaded up on it before a softball game and smelled all flowery at the bar after. Got a whole lotta dirty looks.
  17. The Lesche Ground Shark is pretty good too, blade is very beefy and makes a nice plug. It is a bit on the heavy side. Use my hand digger majority of the time.
  18. That's a descent run. Been too hot up here in the NE too. Just seems worse than other years.
  19. Does that one have a cylinder? If so the pins might be rotted away or stuck.
  20. Rashes in water may not even be from bugs. If there is high concentrations of fertilizers in the area and you see algae booms then it could be hydrogen sulfide often seen as bubbles as you walk through the muck. Good indicator of high levels of hydrogen sulfide is when you pull up any lead sinkers that are black, silver turns black from it as it is highly corrosive. My Niece recently had rashes all over her arms, back and legs from a local swimhole. The rash didn't last too long, just a few days but wasn't very nice. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hydrogen_sulfide I use waders. I like that thick barrier between me and the borderline urinal I find coins in. For Permethrin I just use the ordinary spray found near camping and outdoor supplies from Repel or Coleman and think their content is around 0.5%. So far I just spray my shoes and hat and use ordinary deet based on cuffs of pants and arms if needed.
  21. Cool, like catch and release! What a better way to re-nourish your favorite hunting spot with your favorite finds! Almost endless fun 🙂 You're luck it wasn't in the trash.
  22. Try to be consistent with the speed of your swing and keep as level to the ground as possible. This will help keep your numbers more stable. Steady swing will also help you judge the size of a target by how long the signal lasts as you go over the target. Dig what seems like coin sized object and make a mental note of the numbers and the sound it made and you will soon get the knack of it all.
