  1. Jim, Great job! That's a framer!! I hope he continues, and has that to look back on some day!👍👍
  2. Sven, I would love to have some of those "once used" detectors! I could have some fun with those; for the right price!!👍👍 Simon, I get what you are saying! But i think that there is the cost vs profit factor that any manufacturer has to walk for a "kid" detector! As well as any other detector! As well as the cost for a parent! This "may" be a good compromise for both! And we are talking "little kids" not the older kids! I was collecting thing's; and old thing's, from a young age! For me, it was an easy progression! Even for the period i didn't detect, i still collected many other things! I also did a lot of fishing and hunting when younger! (I still hunt! Fishing stopped about 10 years ago, after too many regulations, and poor fish health!) All things that should have been boring to me at that age bracket! But which i still mostly do!👍👍 Steve, What's wrong with watching paint dry?? I have to do it every time my wife has me repaint something!🤣 Which has been often, in the last four months!!😩 I also watch grass grow; I'm cutting it about twice a week now!!🥵👍👍
  3. Hello again Compass!, Excellent finds!! And excellent explanations!! I'm glad your doing well on the beaches!! How's the canoe coming along?!👍👍
  4. Patience is taught, and learned ( by some), not inherited; unfortunately! That's why they call fishing; "fishing" not "catching" ! 🤣👍👍
  5. Good video Aaron, Thanks! That's is a long hunt! Still very nice finds! If you don't like the carbide rings, you can put two together in a vise, and put a nice edge on knives!🔪 How would you compare the Taracci, to the Equinox?? Keep up the great hunts!👍👍
  6. Hey Norm, They got it yesterday! We shall see!👍👍
  7. ML received mine yesterday! And said it may take awhile due to Covid delays; to be expected!! The weather here has been unpredictable, and extremely hot, so not much detecting to do! But I'm doing alot of reading for now! It is what it is! I'm detecting through you all for the time being! Keep up the finds, testing, problems, and stories!👍👍
  8. Bring on the "Detector Legs" and the "Popping" knees!💥 Too bad i don't have a grandchild to dig for me!! My 17 yr. old son refuses; shocker!!🎮 👍👍
  9. Welcome "Span", You are onto a great hobby! And a great start, finding this forum! We are all at different levels of learning here! But we are all willing to help out! Your knowledge of the hobby will expand quickly! Good luck!👍👍
  10. Welcome Boker, I would love to go, but I'm on the wrong coast! Hope you find a few buddies, and some great finds there!! Keep us posted!👍👍
  11. Welcome "K", Haven't seen the other forums, but looks like you are off to a good start here! Let the stories and finds commence!!👍👍
  12. Maybe an underwater Mars type "Aq Rover"; and an Xbox remote to operate it with! From a "socially distanced" lawnchair, on a shady beach; with a cold beer! Does that peak your interest?? So far, i have the Xbox remote, the lawn chair, a shady beach, and the cold beer! The rest should be a snap!! I'll keep you posted!!🤣🤣👍👍
  13. I didn't mean thay so "literally" Steve! I know that Gold rings are the main, but not the only targets! It's still, after all, a PI! And it's still in the learning curve phase for the few that have them so far! I was just getting some mixed messages from some of the many posts, that maybe others may think that it can be used to find other "desirable" targets, other than Gold rings! And maybe it will; by accident, or intention! I guess time will tell! Just an observation from an uninitiated PI user ; no judgement here!👍👍
  14. I probably have read every post and thread on the Aq, since joining the forum! And from what i have constantly distilled (or has been drilled into my head) is the same strong message! It's a Gold Ring Machine!! Yes, it will find "other stuff"! But why waste that valuable time digging anything else, when there are many other machines geared so much better for that "other stuff"! I'm all for the value of a multi-use detector! That's why i sprung for the 800! But for now, where i live, in SF! The Aq would probably not add much in my mild sand beach hunts! I could be way off base here!! But not having owned a PI yet (other than 2 of my pinpointers!) I figured i would just rather watch the more experienced of you all, get the "well deserved" 99 units, and see the results, as the technology, and the unit offerings, evolve!!👍👍
  15. Very nice!! My favorite kind of displays! The paper towel displays!🤣 But the Diamond Ring needs a little velvet pillow! And a near full set of bits; bonus! I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one that lines up their coins neatly by denomination!👍👍
  16. I got the box set, and the 8" coil about a week or so ago! I've only charged it and made sure all the accessories fit and worked! Did a few air tests, but no water test yet! It supposedly won't do full depth, until it's in the salt water! I would like to do a salt water, fresh water, and land comparison to see the difference in depth for each! **Be careful that the accessories are lined up properly when installing! I'm going to remove the "Red Arrow" stickers, and use permanent ink, or nail polish to mark the alignment spots! The stickers will not last long in water, i suspect! **I can see that the little plastic "stop" tab may be a possible weak point! As it may not be hard to snap it off, if you are not careful! **The attachments must be swapped out, and attached in air! (Check gaskets!!) No underwater swapping, or carrying seperated, unless kept dry! I'm thinking drybag or box, if i need to bring more than one attachment in the water with me! **The box kit comes with (2) caps! A Vented "Land Only" cap, and a Nonvented "Water" cap! I will probably keep the Water cap on full time! One less thing to forget to install! And "sound only" mode was plenty loud enough with it on! I did not receive any English instructions, so i will have to hunt them down on the internet! That's about all i have so far! Good luck all!👍👍
  17. Should be good!! We will see!! I can always add more length! The bungee was a "must have" though!! Thanks for "making" me look!!🤣👍👍
  18. I was just looking at your's on Amazon, and saw these! Looks like they come with a bungee!! And behind the ears, so they stay put! Ratings are so so, but maybe because they did not normalize them properly underwater!👍👍 Update: Couldn't resist; i just ordered these! Wish me luck!!
  19. I know that the Equinox end (1), can be bought on the SeriousDetecting, or Kellyco website; don't remember which one, for about $30; not cheap!! The 1/8" end can be gotten almost anywhere online! I have a few that are even threaded, that were cheap, that can probably be made waterproof with a matching female end! ( Note: Different size diameter threads, from the Equinox end!) As far as the bungee wire, i would think that any that were shielded would do! I would not cut up a nice set of phones, unless you are just replacing the end! Phrunt (Simon), amoung others, can give you more detailed instruction on creating it! And maybe another source that is cheaper for the Equinox ends! Good Luck!👍👍
  20. Good pics!! Love the workaround! Too bad the wireless module doesn't work underwater, then you could do the same thing!!🤔🤔🤔 👍👍
  21. Excellent report Argyris, You can buy a bungee wire extension that has a ML waterproof end, and a 1/8 plug end! Or make one up yourself! Just a little soldering, and the ends needed! I like the earbuds!, i may have to try those out! Great finds!👍👍
  22. Hello xlbsa, I'm sure you have some very historic areas to detect! Show us some finds when you get a chance! I like the orange detector! It would be nice to have a color selection from the main manufacturer's, since we all like to customize our "rides"! Welcome to the forum!👍👍
  23. I hope it won't leak! But either did the last one, as far as i could tell!! The pod was never underwater! But that is getting ready to change, due to beach conditions being what they are! It will be interesting to see if the coil is the issue, and not the pod! I don't know if they will even tell me what part went bad! I will be able to tell what was replaced by the serial numbers! 👍👍
  24. Well, i sent my 800 off to ML this morning! No prepaid label! About $13.00, no biggie! I have about half my warranty left, so i will give the new one a pool test, as soon as i get it!👍👍
