  1. Welcome bigbob, Looking forward to some more infoπŸ‘πŸ‘
  2. Unfortunately, all people who visit; and live near the beaches in Florida, and some other State's, are increasingly suffering this problem! There are two sides! Owners have rights as well! But my view, and many other's, is if beach renurshment is paid for by All Taxpayer's and the State, than they (the visitors) are overwhelmingly paying the majority of this burden! And are entitled to access these same areas! Not just the beachfront owners who are getting basically "free" sand in front of their houses and condos, and then excluding those who paid for it to be placed there! A perfect example of this is a condo just North of Lake Worth Beach, in Palm Beach County, which had been fighting over this for years, and got their way! "Their Beach" is roped off down to the High Tide line! And now, with Covid 19, nearly every condo and hotel nearby has done the same thing! Legal or not, who knows! But it's been done in any case!😞 πŸ‘πŸ‘
  3. Hey kac, I've had my share of run-in's with several "people" and "authorities" over the years here in South Florida! Generally i just let them vent, and continue what i was doing! If they insist, and threaten to call the police, i tell them to "go right ahead" I'll be around if they need me! That usually shuts them down! Nothing's ever come of it so far! But i keep well within my rights, and have a lawyer on speed dial, if all else fails!πŸ˜‚πŸ‘πŸ‘ (Good read, by the way!)
  4. Hello Badger, Welcome to the forum! Great that you graduated from lurking status! I think alot of us started out that way! Steve's a great host, and there are alot of people here to listen and help!πŸ‘πŸ‘
  5. I was out for a beach hunt this morning for about two hours! Hunted mainly the wet sand! On the return trip back down the beach, i switched to the upper dry sand! Nothing i haven't done before! After about ten minutes, i got an Err 41 and the unit shut off! Tried to turn on several times, and the error code would repeat and shut off! Did full reset a few times, but same thing! I still had two bars on the battery, so i didn't think it was a power problem! I thought maybe an overheat problem in the coil or control head! Went back to the surf to cool the coil off! And kept the control head in my shadow as i walked back down the beach to the stairs (about 8 minutes)! Tried turning the unit back on, and presto! It was working again! I detected another 5 or so minutes without any more issues! OK all, any ideas for the issue! And what is Err 41?? I can't find a reference! Thanks!!πŸ‘πŸ‘
  6. Erik, i have a question, If it's Magnetic Island, how do your ATM and Credit cards still work??πŸ˜‚πŸ€£πŸ‘πŸ‘
  7. Yeah, i too, just posted on another thread about the lack of beach finds!!😞 But i won't miss paper money or pennies when they are gone! Although, it is nice to find wind blown cash, hung up in the seaoats, at the beach! I am a true "money launderer" now with the cash! But hey, if you need a used e-cigarette, i seem to be finding those on a regular basis now! πŸ˜‚ πŸ‘πŸ‘
  8. It comes up 90-92 in pro zero air test! The next is an aluminum token?, don't know yet where from! Rang up 81! The third says Mexico, rang up 78!πŸ‘πŸ‘
  9. πŸ˜‚Yeah, some of the targets were multiples! It got to be a little taxing towards the end! But no pain, no gain! The heat was worse than the kneeling!πŸ₯΅ The next outing may be this morning! Before my legs seize up!πŸ˜‚ πŸ‘πŸ‘
  10. I Finally got back to the park where i found the Kennedy Half in February! Went with the AT Pro again, but i had the 5x8 stock coil on this time! I haven't used it nearly enough! The 8.5x11 is waiting for a new coil cover, so it was a no go! It was still very steamy out, but i managed to find enough good targets to keep me on task! Now when i say "good" targets, they are not of the caliber that most of you post! But that's the hand I'm delt, living where i do! The beaches have been very lean as of late, and i needed to get my legs, ears, and brain, back to hunt mode! I thought i found a nice chunky silver religious pendant within the first five minutes!πŸ₯³ But after cleaning a little, it was just plated pot metal!😞 Oh well, at least that got my heart pumping! I detected a little over two hours, and the legs and sunlight started to faulter! It was a decent hunt! And i have alot more ground to cover there! Even if only to retune my body and senses, until the beaches liven up a little! Next hunt there will be with the Knox!πŸ‘πŸ‘
  11. Like being on Shore Leave in the Navy!βš“πŸ‘πŸ‘
  12. πŸ˜„?? I guess that they are not planning to change the vulnerable connections in the rear??!😞 I love the function and weight! But i hope a better design is upcoming! Field use will reveal all!πŸ‘πŸ‘
  13. Yes sir, I too feel your pain!😞 Covid 19, and beach renurishment, have killed my finds! The "silver lining" is that I've gotten to catch up on my "Forum" education!😁, and my "Honey Do" list! πŸ•πŸ πŸ˜ž πŸ‘πŸ‘
  14. Hey Aaron, I have one on my Equinox, and love it too! I will never keep a plastic one on any of my detectors again!πŸ‘πŸ‘
  15. I'm the exact opposite on using my pinpointer! I use it constantly! On the beach, in the wet and dry sand, i only use the scoop to dig the target and get it to the surface! I then kick the scoop of sand to fan it out! Than i either see the target immediately, or if it's hidden or too small to see, i use the pinpointer! After testing the hole, and then the fanned area with my coil!! In the water, i use the scoop in the normal way! Letting the water sift the sand out! I guess i'm weird!πŸ‘½ It sounds complicated, but actually goes extremely fast! And my Scoop arm never gets tired! I've never damaged anything shaking it around in the scoop, since doing it this way! Inland sites, i wallow out a space behind the target with my Sampson shovel, and shove the pinpointer tip in to locate it! I rarely ever cut a plug, because South Florida soil usually does not plug well! It just falls apart, and makes a mess on the surface! My way is nearly invisible when I'm done, and does little to no damage to the turf! Also, I'm probably one of the few using the Treasure Products 585 Probe in this way! But it has worked great for me! My knee's don't mind the bending and digging! When it was new, i dipped it in liquid rubber,( not the handle) and slid a cap on the tip! when that wear's out, i just recoat and replace the cap! πŸ‘πŸ‘
  16. Hello πŸ›Ά, Did you get the Equinox yet? And got to try it out??πŸ‘πŸ‘
  17. Yeah, that would have got the blood pumping!! Still, on my local beaches, that is a decent haul! Gold not withstanding! Plenty of targets in the ring range! Next time, for the Gold!!πŸ‘πŸ‘
  18. Hello again "R", I've done some teeth sifting in both areas! Made several yearly trips to the Peace River, when i was younger! And to the Venice Beach area to sift with my son! Fun times!! I was just a snorkeler, (me and the ocean 🀒 don't get along so well!!) so i didn't get out to the requisite distance ( about a mile offshore) at Venice for the "Big Stuff" but i found plenty of smaller and broken teeth! Same at Peace River! But also found other things there like pieces of horse's, sloths, arrowheads, etc... Nothing for a Museum, but every piece tells a story, and is valuable to me! I've always been into fossils, old things, and history! So detecting came naturally to me in the teenage years! After getting married, and having kids, my focus had to shift due to a Special Need's son! But no worries, everything's good, and i have been back detecting now for about five years! If my family where into the outdoors the way i was growing up, i would still be doing fossil hunting over there to this day! But alas, i take what i can get! Good luck finding the "Megs"!! And the Gold, with the new detector you buy! Be sure to show us your finds, including the non-metal ones!!πŸ‘πŸ‘
  19. Welcome "R", That's a nice Cat! I would suggest following what the Treasure Coast "Fleet" salvagers use in their hunts! That's pretty much the depth range that they are using in, after they "Jet" the bottom! I don't know what forums that they follow, but I'm sure that many check in here! And Welcome to Steve's forum!πŸ‘πŸ‘
  20. Great Job Tom, Nice stuff for a first trip! I was out yesterday in the rain, to give it a go! But most of my beaches have been renurshed! So the good stuff is deeply buried until we get some good erosion! Which is a double edged sword, being hurricane season now! I'm sure you have plenty of place's at home to satisfy your detecting need's too!!πŸ‘πŸ‘
  21. Hello Kevin, That's one beautiful, and historic area you live in! Glad to have you on the forum! Bring on the finds!!πŸ‘πŸ‘
