Does anyone sell the green grounding button and cord without the handle for the gpx series of detectors? I have a handle ..only need the cord and green button.

This past weekend i was running the GPX 4800, and my buddy was using my equinox 800. I will say that i could not be within 30 to 40 feet of the equinox, it gave the GPX fits, and if you got closer than 10 feet the GPX was just screaming like it had a beer can under the coil. I found this interesting since its usually the other way around with the GPX giving the VLF detectors fits. Guess it has something to do with the Multi IQ that the equinox is running. Has anyone else experienced this?

I was just curious and was wondering what the GPX-5000 has that the GPX-4800 doesn't have?

So this Saturday im heading back out to the property that produced 4 nuggets with the GPX 4800 last time, using the 11 inch coiltec elite. The area we will be focusing on has mainly been known for producing larger nuggets in excess of 5 grams. My question is, is there any advantage to use the 11 inch coil vs the 15x12. The 15x12 obviously gets more ground coverage but would think the two would be about equal on depth to larger nuggets. The 15x12 is probably less responsive to smaller nuggets compared to the 11 inch. Which would you use on ground that was just clear cut with targets that will generally be on the order of 5 grams or larger? Thanks for the help

I see the Minelab GPX 4500 is being discontinued. If the price goes down is it worth it to pick one up or has what replaced it that much better? Perhaps a premium will now be asked for the remaining new GPX 4500's? Is now the time to buy??

I was wondering if the aftermarket coils were that much better than the Minelab, i.e Coiltek. I'm very hesitant to go Coiltek because the GPX was designed to use only Minelab coils? My fear is i don't want to hurt my GPX 5000 in the long term by putting a coil on it that Minelab doesn't like? It seems like everyone with a GPX is using a aftermarket coil. I especially like the Coiltek 9" Elite I'f you were me would you get a Coiltek coil?

I literally just got this machine in the mail today. Which coil would you recommend using for civil war relic hunting ? The commander or gp series one? Thanks in advance guys

Hi everyone, i'm excited! I just purchased a GPX-5000. I got 10% off the total. With an additional 8" commander mono coil, the total came out too 3.8k. I studied for awhile on which one to get, the GPX-4500 or 5000. I figured for 1k more I could get the better one, so I got the GPX-5000, Yay!

GPX 4500. Been detecting for a while in the hills in California (Sierras) where I got started in 1970 ish with my White 5000 D I purchased from Jimmy Sierra at his shop in San Rafael. We’re still in touch although he says he doesn’t get out anymore but loves to read about others adventures. then moved to New Mexico. I decided recently I needed to try my hand with Minelab and purchased the GPX 4500. I’m finding it difficult to find reading material on settings or proper videos. I have a friend that suggested a setting for the area I prospect in. I got a mono Commander and a GP Series coil with it. Hopefully I’ll find good info on this site. ? Cheers John

I’ve been hunting a good site using the Deus and Equinox which has nails and small iron mixed in with good targets, some good targets being deep, but near or in the iron. My question is, will a GPX with Iron Discrimination turned up and the smallest DD coil pull out the deeper, non-ferrous items amongst heavy iron? Has anyone had any experience with this? I think for shallow targets the Equinox or Deus works better for shallow targets in this “machine gun iron”, but would like to see what others may have insight on for using the GPX. I’m assuming the fast setting and special soil timing may need to be adjusted as well. Thank you in advance.

Can I reduce the sensitivity of my GPX 5000 but still keep good depth. I'll show you the problems I'm getting in this video

I bought this GPX 5000 second-hand and when I first had it it worked fine, but now when I turn it on it doesn't seem to be able to detect any signals. If I wand it over a large piece of metal it just about detects it and if I turned the unit on and off it seems to improve it. Could it be the coil? I've made a video :

Thought I'd do we show and tell these are from summer 2018 mainly bedrock hunting in upper creek heads .. using my gpx4500 and goldmonster 1000 all the fines in the left container were from the monster apart from a couple that were gpx or nox800 the two in the centre are 1.7 and 1.6 grams still yet to break the 2 gram yet hopfuly this year .. I'll be pulling alot of you tube videos up if you want to follow my channel its nugget hunter new zealand ... I have a modded gpx4500 but I also modded the shaft to a 3 piece gold big 2 shaft it makes it very portable and easy to carry into hills

Hello Friends ? Someone recommended me to start with a GPX 5000 for my Project. He said its not a big difference between a GPX 5000 and a GPZ 7000. So i have some questions, i hope you can help me. Is it true that the GPZ can measure about 40 Percent deeper comparing to a GPX ? Is the GPZ really so much better that its worth to pay a higher price? Which one of them would be easier to use for me, as a newbie? Is it smarter to start with a GPX or GPZ, what do you think? If i come in rainy wheather is it possible for the GPX to resist? Has he a IP64 code? What about to buy a used one? I read that the older GPZs works sometimes better than the new ones, is this true? Is the newest software ( 31/7/17 NEW SOFTWARE UPDATE ) really always the optimized one? With all the newer transmit/receiver style units out there now I was wondering if there was an update for anyone that has made the jump to wireless for the GPX and how it is working out. I have tried two systems so far and not bee happy with either one. Detectnix (sp) unit with their headphones....it worked but there was interference pending on where the unit was located. One video on YouTube showed putting it in a specific spot on the control box and it helped...but still got a lot of signal dropouts and static sound, there is also a delay in audio. I went to a newer low latency Bluetooth dongle and synced my Equinox wireless headphones to it. It too works, but still has the static sound to it. The signal doesn't or hasn't dropped out yet and there is only a very very slight delay in the signal. It is useable but I'm wondering if there is something better out there. I see Gray Ghost has a set of headphones and dongle for the Minelab machines. Also wondering if the Garrett Z-Lynk headphone kit would work well with the GPX. Minelab has the ProSonic but is the most expensive of them all and reviews are not what I hoped to see as far as the GPX goes.

New story thread.... Leaving for OZ around May 4th this year-- Can't reveal the details because it is super secret this year.... But hope to be upload some better video this year--- I have been searching for the simplest way to use a camera while in the field... I haven't found any yet that are that simple, most ways i have tried become so time consuming that they interfere with my fun and relaxation!!! ANd my TAsk mAster dont like it when i am ... "fkn around!" If he sees too many videos or pictures he will scold me... Maybe a selfie, "follow me" cheapie drone----- I could hang a piece of bait meat on it for the flies while it is hovering near me,,,LOLOL This is Jan 20th and I will be traveling to LA on Feb 3rd ..for my last 3 months of "work" Carry on !

Here is my problem. I bought this used and I know it's older then 3 years and it was working fine. I can hear the threshold but I can't hear the target response. In this case the target is a gram nugget. I have a metal fire pit in my backyard and I have to put the coil about 6 inches from before I hear a response. This problem comes and goes for what it's worth. I have tried different coils with the same results, used those same coils on my 3000 and everything is dandy. On the front panel I have the switches set as Fixed, Double D, Normal, and General. ( I was using Double D coils) I have tried the Factory preset and the problem is still there. Any ideas before I sent this off to Minelab?

Hello all, I am gearing up for a relic hunting trip in the southeast US. I have permission at a nice CW camp, that I used to hunt over 30 years ago with my White's 6db and 5000-D. I think this would be a great place to take the GPX-5000 (nice red dirt). However, a power line runs right through the middle of the camp. This was a minor issue for my White's vlfs, but may be a bigger issue for a PI. I have two AI coils, an 11" and a 14" inch which work great for the EMI which typically occurs around, or in, houses. However, I have never tried them beneath or near a power line. I want to make sure I have a number of options if the AI's do not work. I have read the manual pretty thoroughly and searched the forums and came up with a list of methods to minimize EMI (see Table below). One of the techniques was mentioned by Jonathan Porter in a Treasure Talk article on the GPZ-7000 (link below). He mentioned that "Bogene's Settings" are effective for the GPZ-7000 and have been used in the past for the GPX line for reducing EMI and ground noise. https://www.minelab.com/treasure-talk/using-the-gpz-7000-in-high-emi-conditions-and-audio-smoothing After a bit of searching, I came up with the original thread (link below), which dates back to 2008 and was originally applied using the GPX-4000 and GPX-4500. Last week I visited my favorite gold beach and hit an area at the end of the day that produced 5 silvers, a couple of war nickels and 8 wheat pennies. Much better than the limited amount of clad I found the first part of that day. It was posted in the Equinox forum under Equinox and EMI. Today I hit that same area with the GPX instead. Being a holiday, I figured there would be limited train runs, and for most of the day that was the case. I ran the GPX as hot as I could handle and put on the 12 1/2" DD coil to get the most depth I could get. It worked! Had a great hunt. Some oddities for the day included a nice old Ford key, a twisty tie (bread tie) that fooled me for a bit, as it is the brightest gold foil that I have ever seen. Thought I had a gold chain But the oddest thing I found (or actually re-found) was a deep (18+ " ) remains of a Pringles potato chip can. I found it a while back and the chips still looked like the day they were made. I never took a picture of them and left most of the remainder of the can and chips in the hole. Well, today I came across it again and took them home. Unbelievable what they label as food these days! As for the goods, I found 21 Wheats (one wrapped in red cloth from a change purse?), a bunch of silver coins including some war nickels and a W/L half. The best find of the day was the unmarked gold ring. Gold beach gave me some yellow today! As for depth on the coins? Nothing was shallower than 9-10" And 2 of the Mercs came in as a repeatable ground mineral signal. If you use a GPX you will know what faint ground variations sound like, I dug a lot of those today and most disappeared when you took some sand of the top. But 2 of them got louder and I knew I had a small fringe target. What I was surprised at was, that both of those dimes came in at a measured 18". I used a pin pointer to locate them and dug the last inch by hand. I wanted to make sure I did not drop the target back into the hole while digging deeper. I needed to see just how deep this machine can go with no EMI present. I am still in awe of how good that GPX 5000 is. So, a great start to the New Year and hopefully I can count on the GPX/Equinox combination to handle any beach conditions I come across.

Daniel Teague Published on Dec 27, 2018 - Took the 4800 to the bad dirt bullet site with the new to me DeTech Spiral 15" coil. Also had the Nox 600 with me with the 12x15 coil too, just to play around with it.
