At least in the US, Nox 1500 is more accurate. They should rename the Equinox 800, the Equinox 1000 and do a couple of more updates to cover the greedy increase of its original $899 USD price. In all seriousness, I am a gigantic Minelab Equinox lover and user. As long as mine works it will get used even if it has several battery replacements. Other than the leaking issues, wobbly cheap shaft, coil ears and arm rests breaking and no Pitch tones for the Park, Field and Beach modes, in my opinion and for the places I hunt, the Equinox 800 is just about perfect warts and all. And I really like its name since I am into astronomy. Manticore just doesn't do it for me. Maybe the detector will.

You mean the Equinox, right? I remember when it was released someone here hoping it wouldn't be called the 'Nox' since that made them think of 'noxious'. It stuck like flys to flypaper.... The head Minelab engineer (isn't that what they called him in the video?), when wearing his marketing hat, said something about the Montreal being a new creation, neither a CTX3030 nor an Equinox. Oh, and he said more than once how powerful it is. All I kept thinking of was Tim Allen in that 30 year old TV sitcom Home Improvement where his character had a TV show in which they highligted tools and how to use them. A standard line was "more power!" and then they'd grunt like cavemen. (Come to think of it, that kinda fits. )

I'm not trying to be negative here but if Minelab somehow drops the ball and does not correct the flooding issues that plagued the mighty Nox then the Manatee would be a very appropriate name indeed. 1
Ridge Runner
It could be that the Nox 1000 is down the road. With a name like Manitcore is a all together different breed of detector . I guess if they would come out with another I guess they could just add a 2 on the end of the next one. I’d like to know who came up with that name. I do believe that was a long reach into the past. I don’t see myself getting one due to the fact my cup run over with more detectors than I need now . Now if the powers that be comes down and speaks to be saying buy it then that’s the way it will be. Everyone is trying to make a name out of the first part of Manitcore. I myself just would call it Core . The only problem I’m having with that name is core is the center of a shaft. That could be telling me something . ☠ Cipher
4 hours ago, phrunt said: The Legend is quite close to the Nox 800 though, our hopes are this one performs better than the Nox, which is very likely, so while on paper they may sound similar it's the performance that should be the significant difference between this and the Legend, a wait and see I know but I've got my hopes up. The Nox for me has what I consider excellent Target ID's only beaten by the CTX, if this detector can get the CTX level of ID's I'd be happy as for me it'd make it the ultimate all rounder, at the moment I use my Nox for some things and my CTX for others, If they were now both combined into one detector then what more could I ask for. The Legend price to performance and features does have a psychological effect on higher purchase decisions. It does cause you to stop and think “is this machine really worth $1,000 more?” From my perspective I’ve accepted that features like 2D target mapping and incremental tweaks to performance are going to cost me a premium. That and I’ve never been able to get comfortable with Nokta Makros predatory pricing strategy as I’m not convinced it’s as much designed to benefit the consumer as it is an attempt at underselling the competition out of business. I could be mistaken on that, but can’t get that idea out of my head, so I’ve chosen to ignore the Legend (though not without temptation). Even so, over the long term competitors like Minelab can only deal with Nokta Makros strategy in one of two ways. They can either lower their prices as well or innovate their way out of it. If they choose to innovate I’m going to support it because that will push the industry forward more than lower cost renditions of previous generation technologies.
Steve Herschbach
Come on guys, really? Look at it. It's an Equinox 1500. But of course it is it's own detector, not an Equinox, not a CTX. It's a Manticore. But whatever, believe what you want.
Popular Post Chase Goldman
If they had called it the Beast then they could have included Beast Mode and at the flip of a switch 50% more power and 100% more depth plus it would also jam all other detectors within a 1 mile radius. It would be glorious. 2 8

Dan(NM)
Just read something interesting Tom Dankowski just posted on his site. "Something I want to clarify.... that Mark Lawrie stated in the YouTube video: The ID system is on a scale of 99 points. So is the scale of iron ID range! -99 to 0. (Negative 99 to 0). (((Salt ID's as '0'))). This is to say: Nearly a 200-point ID span."
