Sinclair
Still at work.. only had 1,5h - found two crusty silver rings, no gold for me today. The water had been out really far.. I could only check out a fraction of the beach... wow.. could have digged the whole day long Another story: A buddy of mine found a probably real greek coin from ~320 before Christ... On the beach - Dude! I guess I'll see him in the newspaper next week .. what a find. Machine was a Quest Q40 though...
Sinclair
Buddy took me to the place where he found the coin.. after 10mins I found one, too.. another 10mins later each of us found another one. We had to stop digging by law - called the archaeologists.. they will come here today.. dooh! Still not sure, If they are for real ancient coins.. mine came in like lead ~20 .. but: Who would carry 4 greek replica coins with him on the beach? Doesn't make sense either.. Found 3 rings in that 20-30mins buy the way.. very trashy area with lots of signals.. If they excavate that area, all the goodies will be gone though. That makes 5 rings on one day Have to clean them up.. one is definitely 925, the other one probably too.
Sinclair
Update: Eeek.. no ancient coins, fake ones. Nevertheless, cool experiene!
Northeast
Fake ones!! ? How disappointing for you. Better luck next time ?
Sinclair
You know.. I take it like a sportsman - as I said, they were suspect to me, anyway. Strange to find such a lot on the beach.. maybe unfound leftovers from a kid's birthday treasure hunt or something.. who knows. But it was interesting to see, how fast things get rolling, if you find something "probably" ancient.. it took only one day for the archaeologists to come over here and get those coins checked at our local university. The weren't ungrateful at all. Definitely a cool story to be kept in memory
Sinclair
No special finds on my last 3 hunts, but a little 925 ring: Do you still remember this one? 6 months passed by .. since nobody claimed ownership, I've got it back and it's officially mine now! (clear conscience)
