  1. There is a lot of great information being presented by all the parties involved. Some seem to have issues with what is seen as over glowing promotion of the X Coil with a downplay made of anything at all that might present a negative. People are actually ridiculed for having concerns about coil modification and made to feel as if they are losers for not jumping on the bandwagon. Then others are perhaps too much the other way focusing on negatives. Various parties here have vested financial interests or benefits that are not always being made clear. In general a small group of Aussies and Kiwis make specific mention of each other in their posts and generally inflame each other. I'm not going to sort any of the preceding out trying to clean it up as their are many valid opinions that have been expressed. Hopefully everyone has it out of their systems. I hereby request that people refrain from addressing each other directly or indirectly in each others posts. Pokes even in jest are certainly not being taken lightly. If anyone wants to talk about their specific experience with an X Coil please do so. But quit with the commentary on each others posts. Let people speak to their own experience, and speak to your own. If I love the X Coil and say so, that's my opinion and let it be. if I think the X Coil has issues that's my opinion and let it be. Quit trying to countermand and argue with each others opinions. All the drama on all these forums combined always is the same half dozen Aussies and Kiwis while all the other posters scratch their heads and wonder what all the fuss is about. Just let it go and move on. I like all you blokes, you all have great info to share, and I wish you could all play well together. I've tried very hard to keep things such that vastly differing personalities can coexist here without strife but something about the X Coil sure does bring out the drama. There, I had my say. You have all had yours. This is the last X Coil thread that I want to see this kind of back and forth starting up on. Further posts devoid of detecting information will be deleted. It's just bloody stupid dumb ass metal detectors, not life and death. People are supposed to be here united in common interest, not divided over the details of that common interest.
  2. I could have handled things better with Reese but he forgot that as the seller using the forum for free advertising the onus was on him to keep me happy, not the other way around. Water under the bridge now and I am glad to see the buyers finally getting their books, and wish Reese well in his endeavors.
  3. Yeah, Alexa is not perfect, it's just the best overview you can easily get with a sample database numbering in the millions. Google Analytics give you better numbers for a site, but no way to easily compare those numbers with other websites. Alexa is owned by Amazon. https://support.alexa.com/hc/en-us/articles/200449744-How-are-Alexa-s-traffic-rankings-determined- An alternative is SimilarWeb
  4. This is going to sound simplistic but places like that I just slow way down and dig the best sounding targets. No magic settings, just slow patient detecting.
  5. Could also be you are being a tad sensitive and defensive JW.
  6. It's an idea but I'd not hold my breath. Of course any number of people on the forum can meet up anywhere if they choose.
  7. Hi, Here is a short list according to Alexa. The large number reflects the total internet ranking, Google being #1. Other sites you might be familiar with did not make the top ten but you can go to Alexa to see where they rate. This website has been on a tear rapidly increasing in popularity for some time, and I thank you, the good forum members, for making that happen! 8. I used to sell Geiger counters years ago for around $900 similar to these but it appears there is nobody making a decent affordable prospecting unit these days. The ones being sold are for personal radiation/bomb shelter type use and not really designed for prospecting. Walmart sells a modified bomb shelter type unit that looks ok but they clearly bill it as being sold for educational purposes only. I would of recommended a Geometrics model but they also have gotten out of the business. There just is no market anymore. We are pretty much past the days of the individual prospector out looking for uranium. That was more a 1950s thing. White’s Electronics Uranium Detectors
  9. That’s a great story and heartwarming also. Congratulations to your brother Gerry and thanks for sharing.
  10. Tom Boykin mentioned that they thought the Beachhunter picked up a little extra oomph due to the hardwired coil. But yes, basically the same asa TDI SL otherwise.
  11. 81 is way too high for platinum. That's more up in the silver range, and it not impossible you have a melted blob of silver. Interesting.
  12. What’s the target id number? It’s probably aluminum or some mix of melted metals. Easy test. Platinum is impossible to melt with normal means. Hit it with a propane torch until it glows. If it melts, it’s not platinum.
  13. If gold hits $3000 everything with a hint of possibility gets claimed up, no open ground left. Zillions of newbies would flood the hills. Issues would develop leading to more rules and regulations. Indeed, be careful what you wish for. On the other hand my ground in Alaska would probably put lots more money in my pocket, so go gold!
  14. The right 1885 three cent nickel is worth a lot of money.
  15. Gotta love the platinum. For once I caught prices right and cashed in a little over two ounces back where platinum got over $2000 and ounce. Congratulations on a great find!
  16. Maybe if it was Fisher, Garret or Whites. Even a year between model releases would be a significant slow down for Nokta/Makro. I’d be very surprised if they went to Detectival this year without an announcement. This machine has already been in the works for a long time, it’s not something they just started. It is however admittedly a step to the next level. Garrett for instance has yet to do multifrequency, so doing so would in effect pass up Garrett and pull even at least with Fisher, whose only offering is the ancient analog CZ. So it very well could slip into next year.... but my bet is on Detectival for an official announcement. Not availability, just announcement. But I could be totally wrong.
  17. If in the Simplex box it will be waterproof and direct competition for Equinox water market. But may not be overall as versatile as the Equinox 800 as far as Gold Mode, for instance. I’d expect more an Equinox 600 alternative. We’ll see.
  18. Another good option is the Gray Ghost Rattler though I lean Killer Bee myself (I prefer the smaller knob).
  19. Very nice, the iron nickel meteorites are much more what I think of when I think meteorite. Not to knock anyone’s finds but most just look like rocks. That’s a meteorite!
  20. It’s all about sharing and helping others out - welcome to the forum!
  21. Do you think that was actual in place pocket vein material, or possibly just a large quartz specimen that decomposed/shattered/broke up in place? It's hard to tell from the photo if you are into decomposed bedrock or talus.
  22. Funny how if you tell people they have to behave as adults the ones that don't want to just generally stay away. If not, they are they only ones that get torched around here. I don't want numbers, I want quality, and you guys are it!
