  1. As always Steve, Your "Johnny on the spot"!!πŸ‘πŸ‘
  2. Steve probably has this answer for you, having used them before! I'm thinking the formulation of lexan is a tad softer than for a standard coil cover, but that shouldn't be an issue! And it wouldn't necessarily be in constant use; only for certain situations!πŸ‘πŸ‘
  3. I like to put them on the railroad tracks!! Or just wack them hard several times with a plain ol' 16 oz claw hammer with a smooth face! Really makes them coins shine! (Gotcha!!)😜 I usually put my finds in a pouch until i get home to clean! No rubbing in the field for the most part! Dry land coins usually get a gross decon rinse, than anything decent gets a heated 3% peroxide bath till fairly clean, with toothpick cleaning and repeat, if necessary! Salt water/beach coins same gross decon, than heated white vinegar bath! Toothpick, repeat if necessary! **Copper, clad, and silver get seperate baths! **I'm not a fan of muriatic acid due to its hazardous fumes (lungs), and tissue damage (eyes, and skin) It's not worth the risk!!! ******Keeping in mind that these are detected coins from my particular area, and generally are not very old or valuable! ******And once a year i feed them into a coinstar machine to cash them in! The machine spits out the coins it doesn't like! πŸ’°πŸ’° With 1715 wreck coins, and oldies being the exceptions! Of course!!🀯
  4. Kac, Nice job using a vacuum chamber! Great idea! Is that a Nox coil? And do you use a coil cover? I know some people hate them because they can hold debris! I broke a coil tab on my Nox a few months ago, and Minelab replaced with a new coil! So far, no other issues! πŸ‘πŸ‘
  5. Rick, Keep up the good work! I'm sure Fisher will be tracking the input and comments by you, and others here that are a known quantity! Any useful and/or constructive criticism, I'm sure, Fisher will carefully consider! I look forward to any imput you have on this unit! Thanks!!πŸ‘πŸ‘
  6. Phoenix, I looked this up an found dozens of fantastic pics! Wow!!, what a sight it must be in person!!πŸ”₯🌝
  7. Good hunting AG on your trip! And this Forum is a great stop too!πŸ‘πŸ‘
  8. Welcome Tom, I was in Monterey a few years back! We visited the aquarium, and drove thru Carmel on are way back to San Fran! It's a beautiful area! Look forward to some stories and experiences!πŸ‘πŸ‘
  9. Welcome TGS, Your in good company here!πŸ‘πŸ‘
  10. Great find Peg, Keep it up! It's still a piece of history, even without the cross! I'm still looking for mine!πŸ‘πŸ‘
  11. FloridaSon, I read treasure guides report everyday! And i like your updated profile pic! I know that location well! I try to get up that way as often as i can, but its never enough! Hope i run into you sometime! Happy HuntingπŸ’°πŸ–
  12. Nice variation of finds Peg, I've been finding more lead and copper items since we have had some erosion of late! Looks like you saved some people a trip for a tetanus shot, with some of the "sharps" you recovered! The majority of the public has no idea of the dangerous items we recover detecting! Nor do the municipalities! And we aren't being paid, or creating a tax burden on said municipalities! We do it for free with very little if any reward! I know i could fill a trash can with plastic and other trash every time i detect, if i had the time, and wanted to tote one around! Its enough to just remove the metal and broken glass i find every trip!πŸ–πŸ‘
  13. Welcome Packrat, I'm not to far away in Palm Beach County! And "Hollywoodbeach" should live very near you!! I hope the beaches down there are producing well for you guys! I haven't been any farther than Delray Beach to detect in many years! I mostly head North to Ft. Pierce and Vero, when i detect out of town! Have a productive 2020!πŸ–πŸ‘πŸ‘
  14. Gerry, I would be happy with those for the year!! I'll gladly take the leftovers your not happy with!!πŸ€£πŸ‘
  15. I have nowhere near you all's experience with detecting! Let alone with the Nox! But i just had my 800 out yesterday, after a few months of sleep! At a well eroded beach, and did fine with the stock coil and settings! Beach 2 for the wet sand, for the majority of a 2 hour hunt! There were 4 other detectorists working a fairly small area of beach with mid to higher end detectors! And i worked the area behind them that they had been thru! I looked to be the only one with a Nox! And still found 2 rings, and several older encrusted coins! I ground balanced several times, and was hitting some pretty deep stuff! Including some very small copper and lead pieces! I agree with "if it ain't broke, dont fix it"! And i try not to mess with my settings at this point! I appreciate the thought and experience that went into the Nox's program's, and i; at my experience level; would be wrong to think that i could "out program" the software engineers! That being said, i do appreciate you "Yoda" guys pushing the envelope and finding "never thought of" tweaks that could get more productivity! That is, after all, how the detector companies got to where they are in the first place! Thanks for Testers and Innovator's! πŸ‘πŸ‘
  16. I use the module pretty much all the time! Weather I'm using the wireless headphones or some other brand! I have found what Chase said about module placement is correct! I have a rainproof cellphone jogging arm band that I put the module in! Than put it on my detecting arm for line of sight! I've had issues with the 800's wireless headphones not pairing, or unpairing, and carry a light set of xp's for backup! But i only use the 800's in cooler weather, or loud wind / surf conditions! I have others i use with an adapter for the wireless module!πŸ‘πŸ‘
  17. Wow Goldpick, Your giving Simon a "run for his money"!! I just hit a few country town in Georgia, In the US! And did not get anything near like what you found! I guess everyone there is too busy detecting for gold, to bother with coins! Unlike here, where coins, and relics are the main targets! Keep up the awesome finds!,πŸ‘πŸ‘
  18. No worries Steve, Like marriage, its always better the 2nd time around!! Or was that the 7th; i forget!!🀣
  19. Simon, I didn't know that you were a fashionista!🀣 We will have to get JW to give you a fully color coordinated, or best dressed detectorist award!πŸ† Make sure your shovel matches too!!
  20. This is my backup power for my 800, and cell phone in the field! 20,000 mah! Got it at Sam's Club! 2 usb outputs!
  21. Look at GB Amateurs thread: "Unusual Coin Find " (Long Post) before you toss your next wheat! His his quite a find!!πŸ‘πŸ‘
  22. Welcome to the forum, Your off to a good start! Look forward to your experiences!πŸ‘πŸ‘
  23. Made my annual deer hunting trip with my 84 year father and we did very well! Only hunted evenings this year! We also do a fair amount of property maintenance, and stand relocation during the day! Dad mostly works in a supervisory role now!🀣 I detected most mornings for a couple hours each day! I sampled several new locations which included 2 parks, 2 playgrounds, 1 baseball field, and one farm field where i have sight hunted for flint and arrowheads in the past! The ball field i found both rings about 10 feet from one another on the same pass! Both signals were iffy, but i was digging most everything anyway! The one looks to be and engagement ring! Ill have to get the stones checked! The playgrounds and parks only produced modern coins! It seems that the silver and low conductors had been cheery picked, because i found no nickels, silver, or gold there! Oldest coin was 1960 D penny! The other items were older, including lead, copper, and bronze, and iron! and a few toys that were pre 1960! The farm field produced the maddock, and some flint pieces, but no arrowheads this time around! Found some of the copper and slag items on the site of an old tobacco barn on same field! But this area was heavily covered in nails, so tough hunting! I only spent a limited time at each due to time constraints! But intend to return next season to finish them off!πŸ‘πŸ‘
  24. The 1929 wheat in the first picture looks like it has a double rim on the left side and top of Lincoln! πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘
  25. Not being able to find paper money with a detector is true! But, finding it because of a detector is also true! I've found many bills while detecting! My largest was a $50 bill, with $4 dollars in singles, blown against the grass at the beach! Most of my sight finds, ( including jewelry) like most of you all, have been following where the coil goes!πŸ‘πŸ‘ We have had a big drop in coin usage since parking meters went plastic! So the beach coins are drying up! So i will take any sight finds i can get!πŸ‘πŸ‘
