  1. Sorry to hear about these creeps and the loss steve and paul. I will check on people I see with zeds in the areas I detect. Did they get the chargers as well?
  2. You may want to verify first you have a real GPX5000 and not a fake one, there are many counterfeit detectors on the market. http://www.minelab.com/usa/customer-care/stop-counterfeits/counterfeit-update
  3. There is still lots of good open ground where you can file or pay to have a claim filed for you, its still out there. First learn to use a Pan, use a shovel, and sample many places, the more the better. Dig down a few layers to bedrock if possible and sample again. There are open areas where the old timers came thru and removed all the fine gold, screening off the nuggets for us :) Down side is a few passes by a good detector operator and most of the gold is gone so you should begin checking for fine gold first! Use your shovel and pan until you find a good pay layer then Drywashers, Recirculators, or a Sluce if your near a stream will be the tools of choice, Dig and run a 3x3x3 foot area, weigh up the results and good Luck.
  4. Yes its mild ground, little to no trash and no I'm not tellin where it is. Small 1/2 gram nugget Settings were auto GB HY, normal, smoothing off, threshold 17, threshold tone 46 rest is default.
  5. I use a ctx3030 while beach hunting, all metal mode with anything showing up in lower right screen corner is a no dig for me. I dig everything else no matter the vdi numbers or sounds. A gold detector along the same lines and I would buy one.

  7. Hi Tinted Snow, your best bet for good information is to post this on the gpaa forum. http://www.goldprospectors.org/Forum
  8. Good Shooting Mitchel. Your making a habit of this :)
  9. The Karma Lords are happy with your work there Rob, some nice ones for sure.
  10. Just read this story of 132 ounce nugget found in Victoria AU this last Friday http://www.theage.com.au/victoria/i-couldnt-believe-my-eyes-victorian-prospector-unearths-145ounce-gold-nugget-20160824-gr0g4h.html
  11. Its not a matter of ridicule, but rather a parody of all the items and things in nature that were once free to us all, and now we have to pay to use them. If I want to visit a public beach my choice is to drive 75 miles for free parking or pay 12 dollars. Want to visit our public lands in a forest? you need an adventure pass..Your not allowed to pan for gold in sections of Piru creek due to a frog study, Some beachs and parks metal detecting is banned due to someone falling in a hole made by a small child building sand castles, now no digging of any kind allowed... on and on and on. It never ends.
  12. http://www.detectorprospector.com/gold-prospecting-equipment/whites-electronics-v3i-metal-detector.htm Steve's info on the v3i
  13. The Goldhounds to a great job on their own with video, just sell the footage to the highest bidder I say :)
  14. From the Picture it looks a lot like a iron stone, check it with a magnet it may have a strong pull.
  15. That's a really nice haul Rob, the price of ctx 3030's just went up by $200 after your post :) Conrgrats!
  16. MrCrim, lots of good advice so far, but I do have a question, is this your first time trying to detect Gold?? If so you may want to join a local club near you and find out if your going to like this past time. 100 people start off and only maybe 2 will find some gold in the first year or two... It's not something you can learn in a weekend.
  17. When using my ctx I mostly go by vdi numbers. Nugget shooting with a goldbug pro it's sound, and my gpz is a dig everything machine.
  18. Down in the Southern California areas, Randsberg, Barstow, Dale and Potholes its dry enough right now to run a Blower.
  19. Hopefully there will be a price break for those of us who paid the $9,998 then watched Minelabs drop the price $2000 dollars 12 months later.
  20. Hey Fred, your missing a picture of all the @^$@#&&* iron stones lol.
