  1. Today I found a .925 Pink Honker. I say this because it is massive at 16 plus grams and the size of the stone is immense also. I don't know anything about the makers mark. I don't really know much about the age either. I've cleaned it up quite a bit from when I found it. My lasting question will be was the ring made for the stone (pink quartz?) or was a stone found for the ring? These are 3 other rings I found this week. There are 2 silvers and 1 cheapo.
  2. Thanks for the report. I'd like to know more about the GSSN incident as I've been a current and past member. What are gas prices in Montana?
  3. I've been to the edge of a Wilderness Area where you turn in at Jungo Dry Lake. I've been out on that lake looking for meteorites 3 or 4 times and not found any but lots of others have. I've seen their videos.
  4. That is a beautiful Specimen in some natural environment. Your size 3.5/1.5 Oz is that Quartz/Gold. Lets hope others put some sunbakers shots up. I noted all the other Quartz are not water worn so yours has travelled recently to not be buried more. This was a specimen I found while looking for meteorites at Franconia, Arizona. It is rounded. The area I found it is a wash but the temperatures can get very high there so I think some of the other rocks have fractured from the heat. This was the nugget that prompted me to go back over a year later and discover by biggest nugget/specimen to date (20.5/8 ozt) that was much the opposite of a sunbaker. It was down over knee deep (18" plus).
  5. I took a picture of that marker when I was in Victoria. I didn't really know what it was until I stopped. It wasn't on my places to visit. Thanks for sharing it and reminding me of how blown away I was when I was reading all the nugget sizes.
  6. Here is an interesting dedication of an event that changed the East Coast. https://www.wbtv.com/2022/03/09/carolina-gold-rush-day-reed-gold-mine-march-19/
  7. Yesterday I started a thread with an unfortunate circumstance on the beach. I went back to the same beach today and almost in the same location I found this: It is a 24"/14k/9.2g chain and pendant.
  8. I would say yes you have a meteorite and there could be more. What general area was it found? If you tell us then we can tell you if others have found any meteorites in that area also and if they have been previously named.
  9. There is only a limited amount of space you get on the Forum PM.
  10. Rob, You are right. I think I bought a used NF coil from you before I found my big nugget (only 8oz gold). Others much larger than mine have been found in that area also and I know a couple of guys on this forum that don't tell what they find on a yearly basis. I like to find and tell but that is not everyones style for nuggets or meteorites. Mitchel
  11. The Eugenes have been good to a lot of people but I still haven't gotten a nugget from there either. After I left the eclipse I drove to the Eugenes and spent the night and detected there all the next day. The next time I make it there I'd spend more time around the bikini tree! haha
  12. Very nice. About what year did you make those finds? I hunted in South Pass for about 4 hours with a friend after the total solar eclipse in 2017. Wow, has it been that long ago now? haha We didn't find anything but it is an interesting area for sure.
  13. Very interesting and good research. You never know where you are going to find clues.
  14. I know Jim and have hunted with him. We had a fun, full day when we went out.
  15. I saw this quote today and I know it applies to more than fishing! What say you? I would say: Many men and women go detecting for much of their lives without knowing that it is not the treasure they are after.
  16. He is about and used it for treasure in Europe for many years.
  17. You are too narrow to the left. I don't think you opening up a complete bracket at the top will add much to your silver. I would go down to at least the F and 3-4 rows below. I've had some good 'round' tones over as far as the first major bracket line. The in between silver and gold is really not much good.
