  1. I forgot to mention that that creek looks a lot like what I pan and sluice in when I get a chance. The top picture, at the furthest spot is what the creeks around here look like that I have found some nice gold in. The areas near the buckets is where I start at and then go to the bend and dig about a foot above the water to get to the gold. Sometimes we just set up the sluice and dig some of the bottom of the creek and run through it. I don't remember the model of sluice but it is a Keene about 3 feet long. It sits in the water nicely and I funnel as much water that I can through it. When the water is not moving I have a 12 volt pump that does the trick. Glad I have a 4 wheeler to carry my toys for me and a girlfriend to hang on to them as I go over the bumps to fast.
  2. I know that I am not the person to give advice to someone else because I am still a newbie at detecting. When I have had a chance to use my detector (Nox 800) I always re- ground balance about every 20 feet when I am in a creek bed, because I know that the soil has changed in the area and I could have a false reading. I have only been able to get out with the detector about 4 times this year, and so I always use the factory settings and ground balance often. I really have not had the need to change things with the detector to locate what I have been looking for. I hope that you get the answer you are looking for, and hope that I will learn more when I read some of the responses.
  3. Depending where I am using it at, I have found many amounts of coins at almost 12 inches deep. Those areas I had the sense turned up and was digging almost every target. Most of those coins were silver and there were a lot of quarters in the mix. The small gold coil that I have used really didn't do much for me when I would go back over those same areas so I have stayed with the larger coil on the IV. When I am at some of the parks with different soil I get maybe 6 inches deep, so I like the fields and creeks better.
  4. Nice work for the gold, and your companion looks to be happy just watching you. Good luck on your next outing.
  5. Looks to be a nice area to be at. Just a guess but here goes, 1.3 grams of gold? Good luck on your next hunt.
  6. I would like to know if it is battery operated, or do I have to lug a generator with me also.
  7. I must be doing something wrong because I don't let my coil hit the ground as I don't want to scratch it up. I still have the original coil cover on it and only have 9 small scratches on it. My 10x5 has no scratches on it and I use it in a creek to check out the creek and bank wall for gold.
  8. Please have that checked out, something that old I have heard and seen that the gf meant something different back then. So the ring in the last picture is a very nice item and looks to be the biggest winner for you as it is custom made. Great hunt and wish you more luck on your next outing, just don't get out there in a storm.
  9. When changing coils always do a factory reset after putting the new coil on. I run my 10x5 on my 800 at a point between 15 to 18 on the sensitivity depending on the ground. I always turn off the cell phone as it has caused me problems with it in the past. I have used the factory settings and have not had many problems with the 800 doing what it is designed to do. Hope this helps and good hunting.
  10. Glad to see you here and I will be looking for some of your posts of the finds in your area. My grandmother was a hypnotist for many years and belonged to the National Guild of Hypnotist's for many years. I sometimes watch some of her stage shows that she had done for schools and fairs, and she was very good at it. Good luck and good hunting.
  11. Which coil do you use the most on it? I have most of them and find almost no difference between the 4 inch gold coil and the 10 inch coil.
  12. Those silver chains cut very easily, but can be fixed like new at almost any jeweler. Good luck on your next hunt and you got to love that old tech on that detector.
  13. Nice finds and just a few more of them you can finish that dog house that you wanted to build. Just kidding. That Tracker IV can hit those nails about 6-8 deep in my area, how deep can you get them in your area. Good luck on your next hunt.
  14. Sorry to hear about his passing as it's sad to lose someone that has had an impact on your life. Some of the stories of hunts that he had done made me want to keep on going with metal detectors. There has been many people on this forum that I consider friends because of their support and knowledge in this field. Prayers to the family and close friends of his because they knew more about him than I did.
  15. Steve, as you know I was given my grandfathers 800 when he passed away and I have a really hard time to begin to buy another detector because of it's performance. It is much better than his old Tracker IV and I am learning how to get the best use out of it from this forum. I believe that there is nothing I can't find with it if I am detecting. I have seen many reports on the 3 detectors that you have now and when I want to get another detector I will be looking at your number one pick. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and your hard time with this great forum as many of us here are newbies like me who want to learn from the best people. Good luck and good hunting.
  16. Great find and it sure looks nice. I bet you almost fell over when you found out what it was. Good luck on your next outing and stay safe out there.
  17. Great recovery and return, so glad that someone else didn't find it and scrap it out for the money. Good luck and good hunting on your next outing.
  18. Thanks for a great read and some nice pictures of the finds. Looks like you have hit the jackpot on a place to detect at. Can't wait to see some coins from that area in the future, and be safe from those snakes and ticks. Good luck.
  19. Welcome to the forum and I for one am sure that I am going to enjoy reading about some of your hunts if you share them with us. Remember that some of us like pretty pictures also so add a few of them too. Welcome and good hunting.
  20. Great recovery and I hope the owner is glad to get it back. Good things come back to you when you do things like this for someone, so go out detecting and dig some gold.
  21. Nice hunt and some really nice finds, good luck on your next outing and stay safe out there.
  22. Great finds for any hunt and I am sure there was plenty of junk that you dug. Good luck on your next hunt and stay safe out there.
  23. You really need to change that name to the Hot Wheel program, you really are going to have a used car lot. Nice coins for a hard days work at swinging that detector. Which coil are you using on it, and how deep are the finds? The last picture reminded me of the Loch Ness pictures and I first thought it was a family of them.Good luck on your next outing.
  24. Canteen looks like this one I have the link for. https://www.antiquesnavigator.com/d-2501688/original-vintage-civil-war-era-military-canteen-with-cork-stopper.html It shows the cork stopper and the 2 tabs on each side. Great find and it is from the Civil War.
  25. I have seen some silver rings from Mexico that has not had markings, so check it out before you throw it out. Nice pendent, how deep were the finds in the sands. Good luck on your next outing and I know that the gold will return.
