  1. Welcome to the forum and glad that you found us. I know that I will be seeing some of your finds from your hunts in the near future and remember that we love the pictures of the items. Good luck and stay safe out there.
  2. Great saves, don't let the lady of the house see them or you might lose them all. Good luck on your next hunt and stay safe out there.
  3. Since you're upset about the snow leaving I will have to say a few prayers for you to get some more. Do you think a couple of feet will make you feel better, if so I will have the whole church say a few more for you. I know what it's like not to be able to get out to hunt whether it's snow, rain or work I feel for you. Glad you were able to at least dig a few bits of trash, and I bet that the ground was still frozen and hard to dig. So those had to be shallow targets that you uncovered? Good luck over the next few days and may the sun melt away your snow so you can hunt for real.
  4. Looks like you had a great hunt with some nice finds. The knife looks like it is heavy plated gold so it should still have some value. I hope that it is all gold and you cash in on it. Good luck on your next hunt and glad to read about your adventures again. Love the pictures also.
  5. Great job on the rebuild I have been trying to get mine out of the garage for about a month to take to some of the creeks. The tires were rotted and fell apart about 3 months ago and I haven't had time to get the new ones. I hope to have it running again before going to the coast in a couple of weeks and will send you some pictures if I can.
  6. For years I had only looked for gold by panning or sluicing with my grandfather, but since he passed away I thought it would be a good idea to try my hand with a detector on the creeks near me. I still took a pan with me to check the targets with since I was at the creek with plenty of water, and with amazement I was staring at the pan with a nice little nugget. I had only used the NOX 800 for about a year, actually about 20 times, but since I could hit on deep silver I knew if there was anything I had missed it would show up. Yes I found plenty of shot pellets rolling in the pan at times, but I knew that I had to take the good with the bad. I found that it enhanced my creek trips by over 90% more gold than without it. As far as searching only on dry ground with a detector for gold I can say that I have only found 1 nugget with it and soon I will be writing about that nugget with a couple of pictures. So I can honestly say for sure that i hit gold the first time I looked for it within the first hour, and every time I have gone out to the creeks since. Now I may have only found one or two pieces each trip out, but it sure makes for a good day and it all adds up by the end of the year.
  7. Welcome to the forum and glad to have you with us. Glad to see that you came to your senses about this place as it is the best place to be. Many people here to help you out and answer any questions that you may have, and if I can be of any help let me know. I also am from Illinois and just remember this I didn't vote for the taxes here. I am just 50 miles below Springfield and don't know how far south you are from me, but maybe sometime we could detect together. Good luck and good hunting.
  8. Welcome to the forum and I always hit up the small towns for the best detecting hunts. Start first at the county seat and look up where the old schools were and the old parks for the best hunts. Good luck and good hunting.

  13. Eric, we all know that you are always trying to out do the next person, so please let us know if you were wearing a scuba suit on the last picture. I would hate to find out that you were just trying to hold your breath detecting the shore line. Great finds and glad to see some of it going back to the owners. Good luck on your next outing.
  14. Nice finds and I always like to hit the old parks that nobody ever goes to, and there are many of them around my neck of the woods.

  16. A friend of the family is full Chickasaw Indian and I have seen that same arrow head hanging on his wall in TN. He lives about 30 miles east of Memphis out in the country. He also makes all his leather goods himself and teaches his kids and friends how to handle leather. Good luck on your search for more info on your arrow head.
  17. Thanks Steve, I know that you have been working hard on this to make this site safe for everyone and I for one appreciate it.
  18. Nice looking gold and wish you good luck on finding much more soon. Stay safe out there.
  19. Welcome back to the forum and it looks like you are also into ham radio by your call sign. Maybe we can talk on the radio sometime in the future. Good area to hunt relics out there, I have seen a lot of very old people there when I was passing through. Just kidding of course because we don't get much CW hunts in this area, but we do some gold, coins, and Indian relics hunts. Good luck and good hunting.
  20. Welcome to the forum and glad to have you here. Beautiful country in which you live in with a lot of history to dig up. Good hunting and stay safe.
