  1. I bought the TDI Pro for 2 site specific uses, but of course it will/can be used on other sites as well as,i use the Pro solely for deep work ie hoard hunting or on ground that has a ultra high mineral content. On one of my farms that has 2 potential hoards on,one is a roman silver dinari hoard 25 coins in a 70ft radius this indicates a scattered hoard and 4 fields away 20 Celtic gold full staters once again in a tight radius and same characteristics as the silver dinari hoard,so my plan was/is to use the TDI Pro for not only locating some possible more loose coins but also hunting down the container or pot for a better word. This setup would be using the Minelab 15x12 Mono coil with GB off and using it just for the extra depth on both hoards.Alas we lost the site 2 weeks later due to some scumbag dropping litter and not looking after the landowners property, its been 2 years since the incident and the farmer has allowed just 2 folks back onto his 1000 acre estate so i will be back again after the crops come off in a month or so's time. 2nd scenario for getting the TDI is a permission that has a roman trading villa site on the permission and was used by the roman for about 400 years and of course the amount of coinage and other items that have been dropped is some what short of 'Amazing' running into 1000s of coins, but the twist is with this site is the fact that the ground is about as hard as it gets here in the UK its almost black sand like on the beach but 100 miles in land, very few VLF machine work on this site and then normally you can only get a few inches in depth, but the TDI with 'GB on' using low conductivity and the 14x9 Coiltek Mono works a treat, this of course allows you to still detect the roman coins which have included both silver dinari and gold coins as well but also reduce the digging of iron to a much lower amount than if GB was off. So although its not gold nugget related it shows that the TDI Pro can work for you both way with the GB on or off and the various benefits that each one offers. Of course this is just how i use my TD others may use it differently and of course thats the flexibility of this machine.
  2. Not a easy question answer really,as it was not just gold nugget detectors i guess more of a general what do you use. These are my 3 main ones although i do have many more site specific use ones. 1)Everyday use detector Deus with 9'' coil, also carry a complete back up machine just incase anything goes wrong with my prime machine. 2)Nexus MP with 3 coils 13'',10'' and 7'' coil, this machine excels in very highly mineralised ground conditions and can also work very well on wetsalt beaches, but its the total crazy depth of this machine that i mainly use it for deep relic and hunting gold related hoards. 3)TDI Pro was my main depth machine, but these days has been relegated too hunting for gold jewellery etc on beaches, also with a small coil on is great for micro jewellery.
  3. Must admit i am finding hard to understand what you are asking ?? are you saying your GPX was stolen ?? and you are having too use a X-Terrible 70 instead of and you want advice on the Coiltek coil ??
  4. Must admit i am really looking forward and seeing how this all works out, dont plan on using a ATX but some of these similar PI machines like the Vallon PI that are often on Ebay at the moment that can be picked up for basically peanuts, cosmetically they may be slightly rough but the guts inside is all i would be interested in.So will follow this thread very closely.
  5. As yet i have not made up my mine, but as we dont have gold nuggets as such then i am inclined to be going for a 4500 rather than the 5000,if i was in say Aussie land or Nevada then it would be the 5k version for sure but its just the extra depth for deep artifact so the 4500 will do exactly what i am looking for and also they are on special offer and much cheaper that the 5K.Thats my logic and way of thinking,i am never in a hurry and do all my thorough homework, money is in my pocket but its not burning a hole in it for sure.
  6. I do have a few various machines in my arsenal, but the 3 main ones that i use on a regular basis and cover most of my needs are the Deus for what i would call everyday use,Nexus MP for real deep work and this thing is deep and finally the TDI Pro for beach work.Must admit i am really liking this new Nexus its also performs very well on very hard ground conditions ie highly mineralized,it not a easy machine too master but well worth it for some of the sites that i have access too I am also getting a new GPX but not rushing into the 1st deal,as i always spend time looking for the best price, think i have narrowed it down, but still need to be 100% certain before i open my wallet.
  7. Its a nice looking piece of equipment but i bet it ain't cheap !!
  8. Regis, nice mind mate do you have any indication of age yet as in does it have any markings on it or it a early gold ring ??,not been Mudlarking for a long time, may start doing some during the year. Will sort out that Coiltek thing tomorrow as i am away at the moment.
  9. That is a very nice motor,is it petrol or diesel ?? is that petrol tank on the back wheel linked into the main fuel line ??
  10. LP or Leisure Promotions are only a UK dealer but Regtons are the official main Importer/Distributor of all things XP in the UK,everything has too come through them.
  11. What ever it is its well camouflaged as all i can see is a pile of rocks,i am assuming its a snake of something like that ??
  12. No not yet,but had been following his progress on the project on Geotech, all ready have 3 PI machine one is a Crossbow Classic built by George Overton who co-owns Geotech they are ultra rare detectors as he only made 13.May have a look at a Vallon later today.
  13. I will bring the TDI Pro with the 20'' Mono, need a JCB with a back bucket lol
  14. Most of the later RedHeat machines made by the late Vic Fiveash used the alloy telescopic legs off a tripod, must admit they did work rather well, almost bought a Redheat but what i did not like about it was the reverse discrimination on it,that did take some getting use too,but folks across the pond liked them for relic hunting, but alas when Vic passed away about 4 years ago no one was prepared to take over the repair and service of the detectors, alas the design of the Redheat detector and how they had been built went to the grave with Vic.
  15. When i decide to do some testing i will give you a shout mate you would be more than welcome to give it a try.
  16. @Rivers rat,yep also seen the post by Georgi on the MDF forum, must admit i am very interested in the 20'' coil for the MP,it seems that the weight of the 20'' coil is going to be roughly the same weight as the 13'' coil, just shows the difference between using fibreglass over plastic coil cases. The price of course will dictate if i buy one or not as if its a crazy price it will price its self out of the market. Must admit i am really liking this machine, that along side the Deus is basically all i need for VLF detector, wont ever part with the TDI Pro as that does me for beach work.although the MP is possibly as good as a PI machine, that i cannot confirm until i take it down the coast for testing. The MP even with the 13'' coil on i doubt very much that many if any other VLF machine can tough it for depth,i wont quote any depths but the website gives you some indication,i also have the SE model with the dual 9'' coil on it,not testing them side by side yet but the MP could be more sensitive on smaller items but the SE may just still have the edge depth wise ,that is till i get the 20'' coil.
  17. It will be great news for many, but me personally i much prefer and use the original version 2,both of my machines have that installed, did try 3.2 but went straight back to the original version.Just my personal choice of course, the latest version may have many new features but its mainly aimed at nugget hunting with the higher freq's,and as a 'general rule' we dont go nugget hunting here in the UK,even if we did it would be with a PI machine anyway i would have thought.
  18. Mine at the moment has the 10'' and 13'' coils, but Georgi is bringing out 3 new ones this years from 22'' upto 40'',when they come out will get the 22'' on as that will go deeper than i really would want too dig.I also have a Nexus SE with the dual 9'' coil on,thats also a very deep machine, only trouble is the SE is slightly heavy for me as my right wrist was damaged in a motorbike accident in the 70s and how ever hard i try and cannot swing with my left arm it just does not happen. So this is why i use a Deus and a Tesoro with the NEL Snake, but for my heavy machines i use the same harness as the one that you have just bought.
  19. Thats the harness that Kevin at Staffs detecting sell,i have had one a few years that i use with my TDI Pro and Nexus, also have the GPX harness as well but much prefer the Protectors one.Just bought a new Nexus MP last week, amazing depth from this detector.
  20. It don't look good i am afraid, still alot of vital information left out, like from the source of purchase that type of thing, one would have thought that if one has purchased one of these high end detectors they would have got in contact with the seller or retailer 1st before posting on a forum.Of course if it came from a seller from Ebay then the final verdict could be very bad. Some of these fake machines look the real deal externally but some even have VLF guts inside of them, just hope it did not cost the same as a genuine GPX5000.
  21. What a fantastic array of finds, hope 2017 is ever better than this year for you, could well be out tomorrow on a local permission the weather looks good, well certainly dry but on a site that runs right next door to the great North Roman road from London to Scotland,so may dig some roman finds. Hope everyone is enjoying the festive season and may your finds bag overflow with nice finds
  22. Carl is correct on that one,i bought a 8'' SeaHunter coil for my Crossbow Pulse and George Overton who is co owner with Cart of the Geotech forum modified so that the coil worked, what exactly he did i am not sure, both are at the top of the game when designing detector and also co wrote the 'Inside the Metal Detector' but must admit although its not on a Garrett detector the 8'' coil is a really nice coil,he also modified the 14x10'' Mono coil in the same way.
  23. @Nuff coils, what coils do you use on your TDI SL ??
  24. What would worry me is seeing those kids in the 3rd picture on the Ebay advert roaming around in a park digging holes but would the parent show them how too properly recover the item and lay the turf back down as if no one had been in the that location,or being kids spoil it for the experienced detector who does by just digging a hole and leaving it. Gut feeling tells me the latter option,it all right making detectors for the younger generation and of course i hope this detector fairs much better than the 'Go Flop' one,but kids digging up in parks could be pretty bad news for you folks across the pond who do a fair amount of 'tot lots' and parks,as kids these days dont care about things like dig up the grass with as little respect for it as all they would be after is the treasure that is show on the packaging on the detector box or sweet/toy money. Just my opinion of course, but i do hope that instructions are provided in the box that these come in or even better if dealer could show the parents how to recover finds, but as this is a online sale rather than a dealer face to face sale then that aint going to happen either.Good new for Whites if sales do take off but not good news for detecting generally.
