3 Golds Including A Whatsit?

Recommended Posts

My most recent hunt was another great one thanks to the series of storms raking the west coast during the past weeks. The gold ring is my 16th gold for the year and weighs a very respectable 7.8 grams. The square whatsit passed the 14k acid test and weighs 2 grams. There are no markings on it so I suspect that it had an industrial or decorative use. At the open end there appears to be solder marks where it was attached to something else. Any help in identifying it would be much appreciated!

Great stuff again!! The odd gold piece is puzzling for sure. Industrial things only use what is absolutely necessary in their products, so it would have to be something that demanded resistance to the elements to justify the costs. Any satellites or space stations crash in your area recently? 😄 I'm still thinking it's jewelry related in some way, maybe part of a locket or pendant or watch, etc...  Whatever it is, it's 🥰.

Well done.  I'm thankful that you and Seeker didn't get it all!  haha

Great hunt and nice finds.

Is the item in question a 1 inch square x 1/4 inch wide/thick?

That would narrow it down to just a few things.

16th gold ring....and it's only the 20th ?  WTG Compass !👍

The whatsit with solder spot could be electronics related but I'm thinking possibly more likely decorative . Or the space thing 🤩

So ,,,It's 2 grams of 14k .
