  2. I just stuck black electrical tape on the computer screen over the area where the message popped up. I found the white correction fluid got a bit messy. 🤔
  3. I'm thinking a combination of high sensitivity and regular target detection is most likely the cause of high battery drain. I hunt the beach so where my setup differs from yours is mainly; Lower sensitivity Less target "hits" so less battery energy is needed for the audio and target trace Possibly Prospecting Audio is less demanding on the battery ??
  4. Today
  5. It might be interesting to see how small of an oscilloscope is available to buy and put it in line with the disc circuit or audio circuit on something simple like a Tesoro Compadre and see how the visual is??
  6. I did some R&D today for free. The speaker is out on my Legend, I have headphones. Out of curiosity, I wanted to see what it sounded like on a Bluetooth speaker with richer audio. Then I remembered the speaker has a light bar the reacts to input. So, I thought, this ought to be interesting. However, I couldn’t get them to connect. What I’m interested in is the density, which is in the audio. Easy to test. Put a gold ring in an aluminum cap and another above. Put a steel cap on top and some tabs. Swing over it. Take gold ring out a swing again. Easy to tell there’s a dense target in there. A lot of the failed nail board test actually passed, if you listen really close. There’s a little blip in there. I’d like to have visual audio to help spot the density blip.

  8. I detect with guys and gals that have the newest, top-of-the-food-chain detectors. By the time they have fiddled with their controls and decided whether or not to dig a target, I've dug it, bagged it, replaced the plug, and moved on. I personally believe my old Tesoro Analog Compadre can reliably tell me the difference between aluminum and gold by tone quality. If you've ever used a Vaquero or Compadre, long enough to learn their language (300-400 headphone hours), you know the "bell tone" of a good non-ferrous target, versus the "ragged end tone" of aluminum. Maybe sonography, or perhaps microwave detection will be our future https://www.newscientist.com/article/dn3923-satellites-hunt-for-buried-treasure/ Who Knows? Great thread though.
  9. No worries. Honestly, it’s been overdue and I was getting tired of it myself. I was exercising an abundance of caution but it really is time to make the move. I appreciate everyone’s patience on this. As of this post you may only log in using your email account as on file with the forum in your settings. The user name / display name will no longer work. And of course you still need your password.
  10. Phooie….thanks for the info….i was hoping they would work…..but, alas just my luck they won’t….thanks again…wish you great hunting…
  11. Glad you found one Ethan. Not sure what FB or gumtree but thanks.
  12. A visual representation of the audio or signal wave form could potentially be amazing. In the end though it comes down to money for R&D. Just a little investigation will reveal the thousands of hours and dollars that go into coding, testing and prototyping a modern machine from the ground up. There are probably numerous ideas that we will never get our hands on because the investment will outweigh the return. It takes independent engineers that are just into the machines to bring about different ideas, like the Tarsacci for instance, the corporations are beholden to the investors and the bottom line, and as a result seem to focus on smaller leaps that create a new product every few years to keep the revenue stream flowing
  13. Reg, Deus2 is doing Equinox on mineralized soil! The Deus2 algorithms allow you to search more successfully! Verified!
  14. Unfortunately, the Equinox series coils will not work with the Manticore... if you want additional coils for the Manticore you will need to purchase them separately. As of now, the only coils that will work with the Manticore are the M8 (5.5"x8" elliptical) , M9 (9" round), M11 (11" round, which came with the Manticore) and the M15 (15" elliptical).
  15. Spray contact/component cleaner on the board. If no broken traces I would think it would work.
  16. Effort & reward. Good for you. Kind of what has to be done these days as the "easy" gold has mostly gone. Just like you are doing, results can be had by going back to old patches raking & scraping & detecting. Moving rocks too. The days have gone of just waving a coil over the old dig out/throw out piles or exposed ground & expecting to find gold. Now a matter of whittling those piles & ground down. No gold is easy gold but if the effort is coughing up gold that is just the dangling carrot you need to keep you enthused. D4G
  17. i like the color of those nuggets. looks high purity. we call that placering. looks like its working well for you. yes, its getting warm out. last weekend i was out beeping. i sat down to take a break on nice looking sitting rock, it was the only shady spot around. a timber rattler 3 feet away was kind enough to give a buzz to let me know he was there first. it sounded much different from the diamondbacks im used to. more of a buzz than a rattle. only the third one i have seen. snakes are up and about.
  18. What gold have you found with the Evo, any large bits at depth as per your reason for getting it? Cheers D4G
  19. I’ve recently bought a MANTICORE and am wondering if any of the EQUINOX coils will work ( ie the 6 inch, the COILTEC 6x10 , or the 15. X 9…. Any info is appreciated….
  20. Keep up the fight, it's the only way to win, you'll be back digging soon enough!
  21. That stinks. Certainly well used & abused. I feel your pain. D4G
  22. I also don't know why the "cameraman" didn't help distract the snake!! That's not a big Eastern Diamondback, they get up to around 8' long and about as big around as a man's leg, they are here where I live, most of them you see (if you see them) are about as big as the one in the video but I have seen a very big one dead on the road many years ago and I don't think they can get any bigger than the dead one I saw, it stretched across one lane of the road and entirely blocked that lane....HUGE, I have heard from old timers around here that one that big can break your leg if it strikes/bites you.
  23. Its reception wasn't bad due to the detector, it just never took off, it didn't become a popular detector that people are raving about, there are not big active groups of users on social media or forums showing their finds and talking about it like with other similar detectors. It was priced far too high in Australia which didn't help and lowering the price significantly has increased sales a little but when you compare to the competitor it's an insignificant piece of the market it's getting. VLF's by their very nature sell more, cheaper machines with a bigger customer base, so chances are higher it can succeed, I'd love to see big groups of people forming talking about and showing their finds with the Storm, that would be awesome. If the Garrett section of this forum runs hot for the next few years with Storm posts, that would be fantastic, and that's what Garrett should be hoping to achieve, and that's what the competitors have done.
  24. I am amazed he didn't get bitten. And the person with the camera couldn't just distract the snake away with a big stick or something?
  25. Didn’t realize it was bad. Seemed like a lot of positive responses to its performance? Australia is always a hard market since the import tarries add loads to the price due to competition with a “native” company (minelab). Hopefully the “storm” pans out in the end, I definitely love the performance of Minelabs latest offerings but would love to get behind a product that is actually made at home instead of the offshore produced “clone” machines that Minelab and Nokta are hammering us with.
  26. Ok, thanks for following up! Happy beeping!
  27. There are lots of rattlers in Dreamwind Canyon. We have to be careful not to end up in this guys situation.
