  1. Interesting question. I've had this set for at least 10 years. I can't find a model number anywhere. For me, the fit makes the headphones great for surf hunting. They fit very snug around the outside of my ears. I originally bought these to use with my Fisher F75, to allow me to hear the extremely faint audio reports of deep targets.
  2. I used the WM08 with my Killer Bees on my last beach hunt. They really came in hand when you need to block the outside noise, especially the roar of the surf. I think you will be satisfied with using both. After 2 years I'm still 100% satisfied with my Equinox.
  3. Interesting you should mention Culpeper, VA. Red/orange clay dirt, highly mineralized and limits depth of a VLF but a PI way out performs, hands down. I too have this same type soil in southeastern VA. My TDI has managed to find many, extremely old silvers and relics where my VLF can't quite get to.
  4. I knew about the pulse delay of 7 but had never noticed the 12 on the scale. I'm so interested in seeing how the land version handles the relationship between iron and high conductors. Silence iron and still hear the silver! Maybe not but it doesn't hurt to dream.
  5. Just noticed the pulse delay ranges from 7 to 12 in comparison of the TDI 10 to 25. Now this is for the salt water environment and not for dry land "Terra". I might surmise the 12 would be more than adequate for the salt water hunt but on my TDI a pulse delay of 17 1/2 is required. Always good the ponder why!
  6. Years ago I sent a box of coal waste dirt to Dave at 1st Texas for analysis. Yes, they did test and sent a length reply as with what I could do when adjusting my F75 to hunt the areas. What exactly are they and where are they native. Wonder how the TDI would react.
  7. I feel it is awesome that Minelab has posted these instructions on battery replacement. Not many companies share this type of information with their users. This just goes show they really care for their users.
  8. I might add one very important bit of information. If the ground is in anyway saturated with water the coal waste (coke) will present an expounded amount of false signals in addition to increased masking issues.
  9. You're dead on with this statement. Not possible to do an accurate test without leaving the targets in the ground. Approach each from the same direction and angle. Key note, after one machine detects a target it must be turned off and removed from the area. All this being said I made a return visit to my coke site today. Determined to test the Equinix in this area, I searched until I located a target that might be good. Took my time to rotate around the target and as I did the target became intermittent. Then at one point, the machine went silent, nothing, no audio, completely silent. Continued to rotate around the target and as in the beginning the audio came back to a some what good audio signal. Pinpointed and dug a plug about 6" deep and noticed both the plug and hole had a huge amount of decaying coal slack (will attract to a magnet). Another inch or so and out comes a penny. Continued to hunt another hour and did the same to each target dug. Conclusion, most cases the audio was not text book dig signals, but broken, very jumpy ID. But remember, coal waste acts to partially mask even the best of targets with all detectors.
  10. Fantastic find. The old nickels in my area are always badly corroded.
  11. Well, I can say, I almost gave up on this 14k gold earring and sterling piece. The detector (Equinox 800, park 2) kept telling me it was there but my pinpointer was not so sure until it actually touch it. The color of the ground and the fact I didn't have my glasses on proved to be a difficult task in locating these two precious items. Just remember if the detectors says there is something there don't give up until you know what it is. The second photo was a blast in recovering all those sterling pieces. And then the old button, very ornate.
  12. At this point in time, it's the Aerospace and Defense sectors that are driving the electronics sector for US manufacturers. 1st Texas might have anticipated this huge increase in business and jumped in. Companies like this purchase their laminate from suppliers like Dupont, Isola, Rogers, AGC Nelco just to name a few of the suppliers that meet the strict SQAP requirements of both Space and Defense PCB projects. But having your own PCB business allows you to control many of the quality and trade secrets that go along with the electronics industry. Check this out https://www.moog.com/markets.html As you can see, Moog is into more than just one area of high end electronics.
  13. I really need to experiment with the ground balance on my TDI, now that it's cold. I use mine for ring hunting (the best gold rings ever found was with my TDI) mostly with an occasional relic site as a hunt. Then, a once a year beach trip. Well anyway, since I hunt the old school sites where coal waste has been spread over the entire area I might need to check a few of the rings I've found to see where the GB crosses over from a high tone (low conductor) to low tone (high conductor). All this is because as you increase the delay, the GB point moves counter clock wise. If a small gold ring happens to be in the area, where the GB changes, it will fall unto the preverbal HOLE of no response. The delay is how I adjust the machine to ignore more of the coal waste (that attracts to a magnet). Much to re-think...................
  14. Looks like a very successful hunt to me. Well I'd be 100% satisfied with finds like that.
  15. "PS........AQ has to detect my own 18K wedding ring deeper than 18”.......this is the current benchmark with my TDIBH 🏖" 18"! Are you talking dry or wet sand?
  16. Jim, if you ever get your hands on the new TDI coil that has been advertised, let us know.
  17. To be very realistic, it might be next spring or summer before this machine might be available. And that might be very optimistic to say the least about the subject.
