  1. Wow, I enjoy seeing photos of your outback in Australia...thanks for sharing some of the history with us.
  2. I started with the Goldmaster 2 for hunting nuggets, many, many years later I went out on a limb and smacked down some silver and cash and bought my friends ML 4500. Best thing I did was to get the PI, my gold take way surpassed the ones I was getting with the vlf, Ia m talking pounds instead of grams! When I do take out my Tesoro Lobo to hit a few trashy areas I always end up with going back to the truck for my PI , just cant seem to go back to vlf. Perhaps a NOX would change my mind with its disc , I.d. display, and tones for the trashy spots. I am 100% convinced that a 2 detector option is the way to go as every hunting circumstances requires the right equipment to do the job most effectively. I just have not decided which vlf is best suited for identifying gold form iron , maybe the NOX 800 is the way to go.
  3. Whites Goldmaster 2 found my first 100 or so nuggets with it, this led me to buy the Minelab 4500 which I still use today.
  4. Way to go man! You will never forget that day , thanks for sharing your experience with us. Good Hunting.
  5. Lighting gold , its what happens when a bolt of lighting hits a vein or stringer near the surface.
  6. One of the first locations I searched for gold was San Francisquito Canyon and Piru Creek, from there I discovered Azusa Canyon and the East Fork, near Follows Camp.
  7. I have been detecting since I was 12 , today I am 51 my opinion is metal detecting has gone main stream and global! Just look at some of the forums from around the world, Europeans hunting for old hoards of past civilizations, military relics form the wars. They were never able to do that under the Soviet system, it was illegal. Today they are digging up tons of WW2 military relics!! Look at Africa and South America same story over in those parts. As far as here in the U.S. the popularity continues with new people coming into the hobby. The difficulty will be finding good grounds, but for those few that work at it, they will reap the benefits. The main thing is for manufactures and users is to promote this hobby in a positive manner, fill our holes and be good stewards of the land. Metal detecting Code of Conduct Do not trespass. ... Respect the Country Code, leave gates and property as you find them and do not damage crops, frighten animals or disturb nesting birds. Wherever the site, do not leave a mess or an unsafe surface for those who may follow.
  8. I cringe at times thinking of the crystalline pieces I have sold later to find out how much the so called high end mineral dealers we all are familiar with got for them. Beautiful piece of gold , I'd hold on to it until you really get a fair deal you would feel good about and not have regrets like I have.
  9. Show small stuff, the big ones absolutely NOT, society has changed why give anyone a reason to question, steal or harm you for it.
  10. Looks like two Alaskan nuggets soldered together. The wear on one appears to be different from the other..but pretty cool if it were actually the real deal. Kudos to the finder!
  11. The size of the Sadie makes it the best coil for small nuggets in shallow gorunds of working bedrock in creeks...Now an X-Coil that size would be a killer..of the Sadies will no longe rbe available.
  12. Congrats on the nugget ...I dont know how many times I have found a nugget the first 20 minutes...and than nothing the rest of the day.
  13. Those lunkers sure are nice when they come along, but dang they dont come along often!! Nice lunker.
  14. Wow cool, thanks for running the contest.... :) should be fun trying out some plating.
  15. Interesting life he had..and many accomplishments. Thanks for sharing.
  16. Sorry to hear about the theft, let law enforcement handle it and prosecute the scum, they need to serve time in jail.
  17. Hi Jin, I am in California, the button is fine its just that the part that plugs into the unit has broken...or has pulled apart exposing the 2 contacts...It may still work. I just want a replacement just in case it don't.
  18. Phrunt , The handle and button assembly is overpriced here too, and who can afford to throw away hard earned money, I can't. So this is why iam searching....for the button /cord thingy. I will check out the link, thanks!
  19. Does anyone sell the green grounding button and cord without the handle for the gpx series of detectors? I have a handle ..only need the cord and green button.
