  1. Have you ever wondered what the cutting edge mining drones are doing these days? Here is one company that gives an idea at the large scale level. They call it Hovermap. https://www.emesent.io/industries/mining/?utm_campaign=Mining Campaign Dec'20&utm_source=EDM-AM-7May2021&utm_medium=EDM-AM-7May2021&utm_term=EDM-AM-7May2021&utm_content=EDM-AM-7May2021 What if you don't have any lidar? Make your own. Does anyone know anything about placer mapping?
  2. Page 31 of the Official Minelab GPX 6000 thread: You will see some similar comments about the 2300.
  3. More marketing words: What type of nuggets does a 6000 miss? Maybe you'll find out! (It misses less than the rest.) Translation: Wouldn't you rather find out what all the other detectors didn't see? (You have to buy one.) (I'm relying upon the engineers and testers to make a real difference here. I don't need to know the technical details.) What about the cost? What was the 'value of money' when the 5000 came out? What was the price of gold? How about the same questions for the 7000? (Maybe someone else can give the real numbers.) Let's just say money is worth less now and gold is worth more so that means a $6000 GeoSense is priced less than it seems and you can't afford to be without the latest and greatest if you use a detector more than once a week. haha (Make up your number here.) Resistance is futile. It's only money and there are a limited number of nuggets left. Did I win the marketing contest yet? What are your lines?
  4. This is the gold of legend in the Philippines. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yamashita's_gold#:~:text=Yamashita's gold%2C also referred to,different cities in the Philippines. I knew someone in the Phils a few years back who was convinced she knew where some of this loot was. It boggles the brains of many Phils.
  5. Maybe they'll make you feel like you are down in the ground with that nugget or ...
  6. Steve has been ahead of the curve on this type of thing in the past. It will be a 'good' time to get a 7000! If you can afford to 'hold on' to the 7000 ... do it.
  7. Better than a 'pro's' settings on previous detectors.
  8. Get a GPX 6000 to use on your old patches before someone else does! You will be glad you did.
  9. I see ... Kevin was a reporter for the GPAA magazine or something. I thought he was involved with the press release from Garrett.
  10. Well done Lunkster. Sometimes the valuable lunkers aren't gold!
  11. Do you see who 'reported' the story? Kevin Hoagland. Does he have some involvement? What about his GPAA gig?
  12. Thanks for the info. I feel like it scratches the surface and takes away some of the trash and lack of knowledge. I guess word would travel quick if any 'real' amount of gold was found. The numbers of seekers would overwhelm any land rights as it has done in many areas with gold.
  13. I really wasn't thinking about going there or suggest someone hunt there but wondered what any 'locals' say about it. You did bring up a good point about the danger. If you let anyone know you have/had something then it could be used against you. There isn't even any dealer type news but I have heard that there are 'returns' of excess equipment and detectors that were traded in on simpler machines. Why no 6000 news or pictures?
  14. This is what LIDAR can show! https://www.livescience.com/lidar-maya-yucatan.html?utm_source=notification
  15. Norvic, I have a 'trick' for you on the headphones to keep your ears dry. I bought one of these hats. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07SPZ6237/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 The material is thin so it doesn't affect the sound coming through the headphones when you wear the headphones outside of the flap. I have to look for this cap every time I'm on the beach or my infrequent trip to the desert these days. Mitchel I just ordered another one even tho I can wash and rinse this one in a sink or water fountain it sometimes needs laundry too.
  16. Does anyone here prospect in Africa? (Do they have internet?) I know prospectors who have gone to Africa and prospected and taught but is anyone on this forum there? We never seem to know what is going on there with metal detecting. One of the reasons I ask is that with the release of the new Minelab GPX 6000 it has been stated that this detector was released to Africa months ago. What is the difference? Wasn't the Gold Monster designed originally for the African market? We look at sales for Minelab and Africa is their biggest market. Why do I never see many pictures or read any stories?
  17. This thread tells about some of the early adopters and covers the 'period' when the prospectors you referenced 'blew their boards' so to speak. They did try to make their own patch leads in the field and it is my understanding there was an error/short in a lead made by a tech in WA. It is a bit of a blur to me now but I was following it at the time. As a result of their problems and some of the other discussion about fine wires and temperatures I sought out a tech when I got my 15x10 X-coil. I've used it without patch lead problems. It didn't exactly make my old patches new again (probably more my fault) but I've found gold with it and I've not put the original or the 19" back on the Zed. I've stated in other threads I backed over my Zed shaft with a 4Runner tire and broke the lower shaft but it didn't break the X-coil or affect the adapter. My 19" then became a lower shaft donor as well as the chip donor. Mitchel
  18. You hit some stuff that will make you go back! Great coins. Good research.
  19. Yes. Avantree uses the LL technology more than most others. I like them but prefer the Minelab with my Nox. I sent a message to Avantree. I asked them if they made any sunglasses with speakers and they do not. I would prefer them over the shoulder/neck speakers as they would be just a bit closer to the ears.
  20. Today we went picking strawberries but yesterday I went back to the same general area where I found the Franklin and two quarters. I wet sand hunted one direction and then went back to dry sand with the 11" coil because there are some areas with impossible EMI because of ground cable. Very little in the wet and tide sands as I expected. Just some deep pennies. I worked the area completely where I found the half with a grid pattern and found the wheat. Somewhere within my scooping I got the 1957 dime and I got the little .925 silver ring. This actually sets up many, many one hour hunt boxes for when there is not much on the wet beaches. These are the total finds. These are the best. This us the dime before and after.
