  1. I use a Snake coil on my Laser Trident11 which is a Tesoro for the UK market, works very well for Mudlarking on places like the Thames and exceptionally well for working on trashy roman/saxon sites as well. Seriously thinking about getting a Snake for my new T2 which has the boost mode as that could well be a deadly combination.
  2. Very well done and the Axiom does sound like a tremendous detector,i dont plan on getting one as in theory we dont have gold nuggets as such here in the UK,we of course do have gold coinage and artefacts so would work well detecting for those.
  3. My vote would also go for the Coiltek 10x5,it's such a versatile coil.
  4. He did occasionally provide some good information i must admit.
  5. I use to use my cheapish drone to survey some of my personal permissions here in the UK,but with so many regulations coming in its taken all the enjoyment of using a drone,i can get the same basic information by using google earth and Lidar.Of course i can see the advantage of using a drone for prospecting.
  6. I have absolutely nothing against 'more features' i am basically just saying what i do here in the UK and the specific reason why i guess....regarding what if you are a 'deaf person' well that has always been a major issue since detectors have been made as all early detectors and even modern non TID machines have had that problem for folks who have hard of hearing or infact totally deaf, most modern nugget machines are mainly audio only with the odd few like this new machine that has just come out recently, but even then once again when that machine get to a certain depth level the screen become unreliable and folks then rely on audio and of course the very last resort the audio threshold which only gives a indication that a target is in that location but cannot of course dicriminate. TID on a detectors are absolutely fine and i have nothing against having extra features, but it is only reliable to a certain depth and that is solely the reason why i use audio, any folks who has a hearing difficulty of course has a massive disadvantage but as i recall correctly Nokta have/did produce a vibrating handgrip that may help folks who have hearing loss. But for my detecting and our hammered coinage detecting here in the UK audio is far more reliable than across the pond or infact any other country that solely has milled coinage.
  7. Here in the UK as our silver hammered coinage can vary by a massive margin ie silver content, quality of silver and various sizes of the coins and also i guess the same could go for artefacts as well,TID is in my mind a waste of time and audio is far more reliable especially when hammered coinage is concerned,of course if the coinage is a consistent milled coinage then one can rely on the TID and what the screen is telling you. For me Audio is and always will be king, its far more reliable at depth over a screen and also that very last indicator which is often overlooked is the audio threshold.....on my machines that have screens on i just dont look at them as i use my ears instead of my eyes to make that 'dig/no dig decision' if you rely on just using a screen to make the decision then you could/would leave some desirable targets in the ground.
  8. The Camo is that good i cannot see anything 🤣🤣🤣
  9. Ron,would just like to say a massive thank you for that information, that is exactly what i was looking for,i am specifically looking for gold staters which are about 6grams or so and from i can see this coil can bang them out at some decent depth as for larger items that is a for gone conclusion.....thanks again for your help.
  10. As the title mentions,i have the option on buying a brand new Coiltek 18'' Elite mono coil its the 'camo' version at a vastly reduced price that what they are normally priced at,i wont be using it for finding anything small like gold nuggets etc,but mainly hoards or stray coinage allied with scattered hoards. It wont be used all that often but when it is i am certain that i have the right tool for the job,so would like some advice/opinions is this a good coil for my specific use when used with the GPX 4500 ?? Many thanks
  11. A truly enjoyable read, thanks everyone who has contributed....thank you so much 😉
  12. Jeff, some truly outstanding finds, you certainly are taming that Manticore, very well done machine and operator in true harmony😉
  13. Some of my detectors ie like my DFX which is 20 years old and my T2 which is 18 years old still perform exactly the same as when they came out the factory,my DFX certainly has 1000s of hours of use over the last 20 years but just these 2 old detector have found me more gold/silver hammered and milled coins than all my other put together. So my answer would be no unless they have been mistreated or modified internally that is.
  14. That has always been a common practice over here in the UK with our mainly hammered silver coinage,we call them cut halves and quarters and was exactly as you have described using them for small change.
  15. @Numero uno,Steve,many thanks for that reply,that was the information that i needed.....thanks again.
  16. Some weeks back i found a dealer here in the UK selling the very latest T2 with boost mode for £299 including delivery,so snagged one as they had been well over double that price, must admit the boost does make alot of difference over my original green T2 from 2006/7 and will never sell that detector as its found me more gold hammered and mill coinage than all my other detectors put together. Not sure what the difference is between boost mode and cache mode, would have liked the cache but they never had them on offer but i am happy with what i have got....can anyone enlighten me what the cache mode advantage is if any ???
  17. Have never used or even been tempted to buy a Manticore,i still basically use my Nox,T2 and Deus1 for deep ploughed or pasture if i want depth then i use my Nexus or a Pulse. The Manticore does seem to have a large gathering these days but as yet it still has not grabbed my attention enough to part with my Wonga 🙂
  18. Great video, really like watching them...thanks for sharing.
  19. A massive well done to you and its brand new by the looks of it,hope you find plenty of gold with it 😉
  20. Thanks for the inside information, after reading this i am putting all my detectors up for sale and buy the state of the art 540,thanks for the heads up on this high end technological wonder.
  21. I use one on my DFX,must admit it is possibly my all time favourite pinpointer that is until my MI-6 probe on my Deus which basically does the same job ie you hear everything through your headphones. I still use it occasionally with the DFX but use different machines these days, only thing you have to remember is flick the switch back to normal detecting again after pinpointing,a few times i have left it in pinpointing mode and not found anything for a while then realised what the issue was/is. Can highly recommend them.
  22. Welcome from just north of Roman Londinium in the UK.
  23. Those are some outstanding finds, very well done and i reckon some more interesting stuff could be in that same location.
