  1. I put the white gold earring in a plastic container about 3/4" high and layed on the ground . With the Gold Kruzer in deep mode it would get a hit with a short sweep back and forth but with a normal fast or slow sweep you won't hear it. I guess the only detector that can get that small white gold earring is the Gold Bug 2. According to Tom Dankoski it is the best micro gold hunter.
  2. Just did some more air tests on the 10k white gold earring and with the Gold Kruzer in deep mode with disc at 0, it hits the earring with a smooth hit with the coil raised 2"+. Turn disc up to 22 barely gets a hit one way. Micro mode didn't didn't work lowing disc to 0. I'll be hunting with deep mode and try disc at 0 in sand and in the water if there isn't much iron. Deep mode screams on shallow targets. The earring was a nice smooth hit. Sensitivity was 92.
  3. Deep mode and Micro mode. I haven't been able to get out yet. Snowing today. In my tests I like them both. On my 10" test dime I don't see a lot of difference. A slight edge to the deep mode. Deep mode does scream on shallow targets which could be an advantage on micro jewelry hunting. What are your finding on both modes jewelry hunting and micro jewelry? Thanks...Rick
  4. Paul, The Lobo ST I had worked better with concentric coils and was hot with the gb negative. Does the Lobo w/ gb work as well as Lobo ST w/ gb turned negative inside? Rick
  5. Has anyone used this coil? I'm thinking about trying it in the water and I hip mount the box so it might work ok. It's said to weight 503 grams which is light for a big coil. There should be a good depth increase over the 9.5x5 dd coil on gold rings. Or even hip mounted would be to hard to swing in the water. Nokta/Makro 13” x 15.5” GK40 DD coil for Gold Kruzer
  6. The Gold Kruzer is quite a powerful detector. I'll be hunting freshwater lakes in deep mode with the 9.5x5 dd coil and will hip mount it for easy hunting in the water. I'm surprised the Gold Kruzer goes deep being a gold detector. Is the 24k as good in depth?
  7. There is a waterproof container for the Orx. I use mine in the water. I believe it can also be mounted on your arm waterproof.
  8. Mars coils are light. Mars Tiger 10x13 500 grams, Discovery 13" 520 grams, Goliath 15" 580 grams. http://en.marsmd.com/catalog/ I had a Multi Kruzer with the Mars Tiger. It was light and went thru the water nice.
  9. Also noticed with deep mode, targets got better hits with a slow sweep.
  10. Mike, I didn't realize the boost mode goes deeper in air tests and hits harder on gold than Micro mode. My test coins I liked Micro mode better but I'm switching to Boost mode this summer for gold...Thank you
  11. Hi Mike, Disc at 22 is nail setting. Just in the house with air and iron tests I don't see any difference with disc at 22 or disc at 0 with tone break at 22. I'll be using the 9.5x5 dd coil this summer. Hope you can get out Sunday. Rick
  12. I got another Gold Kruzer to lake hunt. Still cold and snow in northern MI. The first Gold Kruzer I had I used disc at 6 and set tone break at 22. In Micro mode it was noisy but worked ok. I thought it was just a noisy mode. I was playing with it in the house and with disc raised to 22 the Gold Kruzer ran quiet in Micro mode. Why is that? With disc 0 and tone break 22 very noisy. With disc raised to 22 quiet. Will it go deeper and separate better with disc at 0-6. Or no difference except noise or no noise. Haven't tested it yet. I'll probably run disc at 22 and set tone break at 44. Low tone for small gold and high tone for bigger gold.
  13. It should sparkle when cut. I don't see that. Another test is to rub it on the back of a tile. A meteorite would be black.
  14. The XP Orx w/ a hf coil would not be a bad choice. Will be great for jewelry hunting and the waterproof kit works great. I put it inside of my wader and use the wireless headphone.
  15. Baking soda is an abrasive and will leave fine scratches. I've soaked of mine Hydrogen Peroxide. I think now best would be to clean them dry with toothpicks and maybe a toothbrush. And even then it will probably leave some fine marks on a coin. So rare coin never clean.
  16. Looks like it could be a fossil. I don't know about the indentations. It's strange. It looks like other spots are starting to collapse in.
  17. I sold my Equinox 800 & Lobo ST. I'm down to: XP Orx w/ 9" hf coil Gold Kruzer w/7.5x4 dd, 9.5x5 dd, 9.5x5.5 concentric Deeptech Vista Gold w/ Super 6 8x6 & 11x7
