  1. I'll bet it's gold. It looks like it is open under the stones.
  2. I've only been able to test the gold modes with the Orx in the house as I'm snowed in. I like how good it hits gold jewelry. IAR at 2 discs out my old rusty nails. That's where I'll be at. I will be using it a lot in lakes in northern Michigan. Can't wait to get out in the spring. It also seems to run smooth with high sensitivity. I give an edge to the Deep mode on coins but I think the Gold modes will be what I will use the most.
  3. I would get the Orx. It's an easy to use very powerful detector. After using the Equinox for 2 years I switched to the Orx and sold my Equinox. It is very hot on gold in both gold modes.
  4. I was in Lake Michigan with a White's IDX Pro and a big wave hit it. The detector stopped working. I turned it off and laid it out in the sun all day and it started working again. Shouldn't have taken it into Lake Michigan to begin with so be careful with your detectors lol.
  5. Nice find. Merc was my first find also. I remember my first Barber dime. I was so excited I took it to the car and carefully laid it on the seat. You don't forget those first good finds. Also remember my 1 and only Seated CC quarter and Large cent. Your finds are only going to get better! Rick
  6. Use white vinegar. I have had to let soak for a week to get a lot of rust off. Electrolysis is faster.
  7. I like that the MX7 will hit on iron relics. My Equinox, XP Orx and Gold Kruzer don't like iron much. I enjoy digging those iron relics. Might have to pick up that detector sometime. How is the weight and balance? I had the MX Sport twice but was to heavy for me.
  8. Nice find. Nickel looks nice. How did you clean it?
  9. Nice report Monte. I'm thinking I need to add the 9.5x5 hf coil with my 9" hf coil. I am really liking this detector. It is becoming my main detector. My main hunting will be in lakes and the waterproof kit works great. No problems. I keep the waterproof container with the box inside of my waders. Give the Gold modes a try. In tests It seems to separate better and goes very deep on gold.
  10. Nice review. I'm really liking my Orx too. Can't wait to get in the water with it in the spring.
  11. I find myself also using the Orx more and more. I'm finding it pretty equal with the Equinox. The Orx is better hunting gold jewelry in Gold modes. Gold Kruzer 2nd for gold jewelry. Equinox 3rd. It doesn't false either. Better in iron. It's becoming my main detector. Detectors I have: Equinox 800 w/ 11" and 6" coils XP Orx w/ 9" hf coil Gold Kruzer w/ 9.5x5.5 concentric, 9.5x5 dd, 4x7.5 dd coils Lobo STmodded w/ 8" and 5.75" concentric coils
  12. Ring .89 grams 14k at 12" in the sand. The Orx in Gold 1 and 2 got a solid hit and Gold 1 could be raised about 3". Gold Kruzer got a tick that would be noticeable using the 9x5 dd coil. Simplex no hit. Equinox w/ 11" coil no hit. Don't know why the Equinox didn't get a hit. Tried Gold 1 and Park 1, Sensitivity 24, 2 tone, Tone break -1, recovery 4, F2 0 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Orx is the best for lake hunting. The Gold Kruzer close behind. Still amazed how powerful the Orx is in Gold 1.
  13. Gold 1 is incredible. Thanks for your experience with Gold 1. It seems like an all metal mode with a different form of Disc. Was doing some tests in my living room and will set disc iar to 1. This mode will be unbelievable in my mild fresh water lakes. Can't wait till spring.
  14. A 2.04 gr 14k gold ring buried at 12" in sand the Orx hits it in Gold 1 & 2 and with the coil raised about 4". Gold 1 hit a little louder. Orx w/ 9" hf coil. 28khz, sensi. max, recovery 2, disc IAR 2. Iron off. This will be my main lake hunter.
  15. Last summer I hunted with the Orx in the freshwater lakes using Deep mode. Just now was testing a ladies 2.04 gram 14k gold ring in sand and was taken by surprise how much more powerful the Orx was in the Gold modes than Deep mode on the gold ring. On my test coins Gold mode didn't do as well as Deep mode so used Deep mode ring hunting last summer lol. Should have known Gold mode would be more powerful on gold lol. Was just taken by surprised how much deeper it was on the gold ring.
  16. I agree. The Orx is an awesome detector. I have the water kit too and performs great out in the water.
  17. From my use of Tesoro's the concentric coils performed best in my mild ground. Worse ground would need the wide scan coils.
  18. I would like to know that too. I have a Gold Kruzer on the way with 3 coil. The extra coil is the 9.5x5 dd coil. Will be hunting freshwater lakes and micro jewelry in other areas. I had one before. Don't know why I got rid of it. I like the Micro mode best as it was deepest. Noisy but no problem hearing targets. It's a nice detector.
  19. Well Steve, the Orx is an amazing detector. Orx w/ 9" coil is better in iron than the Equinox w/ 11" coil. I would say equal with Equinox using 6" coil. Will not be get rid of either. I also have the waterproof kit for the Orx too. The Orx doesn't false like the Equinox in iron. To bad the coils cost so much for the Orx. Looking forward to seeing the Fisher AQ too.
