  1. Past hour
  2. I realize that decriminalization is depth limited, but in a ferrous metal littered alluvial worked area (gold rich), what would be the weapon of choice? We are talking about throw outs and specimens lost in oversize. Not my normal field of interest, but when it adds up and puts gold on the scales, why not?
  3. Earlier this week we traveled south to the civil war area to go detecting. We had a great time, with all of us finding something interesting. Here are my finds.
  4. It's those days that serve as support for when the bad streaks come. In my opinion, location and timing are 90%... Perseverance and hours, many hours. And some days... - 14 October 2022.
  5. Today
  6. Very nice ! Lucky you have a family property to hunt with that sort of history . Hope there is some more finds to come . No names on the compact ? Just a note : your shell will be almost certainly brass , not copper .
  7. Weekly wrap up... Tired and satisfied for an half, but this its been the fish for this week... Monday and Tuesday in two different spots, a no show Wednesday due to strong surf and yesterday and today back again with nothing more to add... All in all 12.2 grams of 18K and Manti's ROI next to come 🏴‍☠️ Have a great weekend You all!
  8. A little update... Monday and Tuesday I've been lucky enough to search in two spots with M8 where I pulled up two pieces one day in a spot and two pieces another day in another spot... Wednesday the waves were too nervous to stay firmly on the bottom so I skipped to enter... Thursday back to the last spot with the M8 and nothing new...Back again today, same spot this time with M11 and nothing new again... End of the story is, even covering more space and with some more inches, when I'm done, I'm done... I've been really tempted to but another toy, but as for now, I'll pass...Still can't believe what the M8 it has done there...Clean area now...
  9. I am just waiting for the Sun-Shine. 😏
  10. And the 100 gold bucket challenge continues. Filled up another 4 buckets. Classifying from 7/16" down to 1/4" takes a little longer to fill up a bucket, but you get more gold per bucket. Hit the 40 bucket mark today. 60 more to go.🥱
  11. We'll be over later in the summer, Jason...many thanks! I still need to build a rotary classifier for gems.....the vibratory unit works goof, but is really loud. I feel your pain on the weather. Other than going to Oregon for the Sunstones, we have yet to be out. All my years in Idaho, and I've never seen a spring like this. I know it's been just as bad over there in your area. Can't wait to try the Pleitz jig over there. To know you're getting close to the diamonds, keep an eye peeled for chromium diopside. It's really brittler, so doesn't last long after eroding from a pipe. Jim
  12. It's powered solely by hot air (hence "storm"), no electronics, so no FCC certification needed. Point of reference: Apex announced at a "live event" in late May 2020, released in late August/early September 2020.
  13. Yes, but that is an awful long way from where they are now. That is my point.
  14. I was hunting my grandparents old property, I had a mid 70's signal on the manticore, 5 chevrons deep on the depth meter. Started digging , dug down in the 13" 14" range and this came up. 1.5" dia, appears to be copper. I pried it open and the lid has a shattered mirror, and the bottom half contained a rouge pad. No idea on its age. Was it my grandma's , or aunts? The shotgun shell is all copper, #10. 8" deep. My grandpa owned a 10 guage Gibralter brand shotgun. That gun was a beast. My cousin has it in his collection. Fun finds! The house was put up in the 1880's, property has been in the family 120 years. 11" coil, At General, 18 sensitivity, 4 rec speed. Sandy black soil.
  15. No sign of any Storm front reaching the FCC yet. Garrett FCC records
  16. I think we are like little kids at Christmas we just want to know what's in the box,and then Christmas got delayed a few weeks . ,Oh the let down.I constantly have to remind myself not to get to worked up over things i can't control.
  17. Just take it to a University museum, or just any other museum where there is a research center. But more than likely you won't be able to keep it if it is a Native American (Indian and such) historical carving. However, there have been instances that, while you can't keep it you may have some options to to sell it, donate it, and so on.
  18. I totally agree and wish Garrett did the same. I'm trained by Apple, announce new phone or iPad, order a short while after. That's what a lot of us are used to now and metal detector companies would be wise to do the same. All I was doing in my post was pointing out some other products are far, far worse. But nobody likes it.
  19. Thread is too good for the Classifieds so moved to main forums. Here is the Toltec 2...
  20. I think I like algoforce's marketing plan better. BAM, it was suddenly there and available (for some anyways) . Not being available in the US sucks for now, but at least we know what it's about.
  21. Here is a different perspective for you all. As a few of you know I am a PC gamer, tend to favor Bethesda open world role-playing games. One of the most popular ever made has been the Elder Scroll series, the fifth entry Skyrim came out in 2011. It has been hugely successful. The Elder Scrolls 6 followup was announced in 2018. Bethesda has said very little since as they were working on another project. With that now out, halfway serious work on Elder Scrolls 6 is probably underway, but realistically it is years away still since these things take huge amounts of money and time to develop. So people have been waiting since 2018, will probably get some serious drip feed starting in a few years, and maybe see the game itself by the end of this decade. So Storm, first hint a few months ago, probably available by the end of the year, count your blessings!
  22. Yesterday
  23. I see your confusion and dilemma in getting your questions answered. Maybe you should get a hold of the folks at Garrett (technicians & engineers) that wrote this darn thing!!!

  25. @Nikko I did not even think about ground tracking for sampling how mineralized the ground is. When I get to my sampling plan, I'm going to try both tracking and GBW. I'll report back on results of the samples I take and the tracking and GBW numbers (probably in June). I saw your post about using the ground tracking window as a way to discriminate. I'm going to give that a try too. Thanks for the great ideas.
  26. I recall way back in early PI days at a ML FNQ OZ get together barbque, a ML employee spoke that audio was not delivering the complete signal from machine to user, certainly appears to me, although early days, Algos treble audio maybe a step in the right direction. This old fella loves it.
