  1. I am sure that is not right, wait till the new generation of Minelab detectors come out that go 40% deeper and does it all for you.😁
  2. You was too quick, don't every thing grows faster in the sun.πŸ˜€
  3. I have the best support bushwalking boots here in aust. that I use when off-track. The main reason I have them is while detecting during the 80's I did a small jump across a loaming trench and hear a load shot like sound. It was my Achilles heel tendon snap. I took 6 weeks to be able to walk normal. luckily it was still connected, but over 30 years later I can feel that scare that it caused. SO WATCH OUT for your footwear choice.
  4. Like the token. Aust tokens are very rare, those the value does not show this. Expect about $100 to 300 for yours. Great finds.
  5. Liked the bowl and those buttons were real eye candy as being in Aust. I have not seen your USA buttons. Thanks for the photos.
  6. β€œA night hawker" sound like our "Moonlighter" on the gold field here in Australia. As they say if you can't beat them join them at your own risk. The old shotgun with saltpeter keeps some of them under control. πŸ˜€
  7. So that is why I keep getting those long range gold locator adds, at my age I thought Google would know at my age a short distance gold locator would be more appropriate as I would not have to walk so far and dig too deep for those large nuggets. Thanks a lot Steve from saving me from buying a dozen of them to get my gold uptake back to normal. πŸ˜‹
  8. Garrett has a link to most Whites Manuals. ......Whites Manuals.....
  9. Like your 7 photos but I'm waiting to see the 7th when you have cleaned them like your other 6 photos. 😁
  10. Jim I might have to steal your idea and use it as a trailer for my Sea kayak when I do some large riversπŸ˜€
  11. The trouble with flagged signals is, hearing it when you know it is there, is only half of the story. It is finding it when you don't know it there that counts. On the gold fields the ground condition, the rate that you are swinging and how long you can swing it. It means little, if you know it is there and can adjust the detector till it gets the signal than walking over the target with the the speed, tune of the spot before you hit it. If my wife grids an area I would not waste time going over it, however one of my deepest VLF Nugget with 5 ounces of gold in a specimen that was 19 inches deep in one of the hottest ground in Victoria Aus was tested by three other detector brands. Only the wife got a response and she said it would not of stopped her. So what does this mean, testing depth on a known/tagged target is only one of many factors that have to be taken into consideration when testing detectors.
  12. When I saw that thimble, the song "Silver thread and golden needles" popped in my head by the Springfields. So now you have to find the golden needles.πŸ˜€
  13. The point is know your detector the more you use it the better it will work for you. Sometimes a detector is not the best for a given task. Trying out different methods as Steve has done will enhance the detectors use. This might make it better than standard use and maybe better in some condition than another detector in the hands of an experienced operator.
  14. I am with "dig4gold" The best way to find the best spot is use a hand auger to find if there is any deep runs in your spot. After deciding where to start trenching your way up hill and back filling behind you (need 5 or 6 ft in length first) as you detect the dug ground.
  15. Outback NSW. ....Link.... Found this Utube on another site. https://golddetecting.forumotion.net/t27500-corner-country-great-story-and-memories-if-you-have-been-there
  16. The detector choice is one thing, the size of the coil another. A big factor is the operator knowing that junk is normally shallow even in scraped ground rows. This means you can eliminate/remove the junk first, with a low sensitivity and a faster scan with the VLF. Now you can slow down with a high sensitivity setting with a PI detector. Some times you have to know when you are beaten.
  17. The only one that works, but it dissolves plastic. .....LINK.....
  18. Just for fun we used those electrified small bats and feed the flies to the ants. However this had its own problem, the amount smoke of burning flies and the smell of the smoke, which was matched with the ants coming from everywhere. Tony this was at Leonora too, so the heat of February is only a small discomfort in comparison. πŸ˜ƒ I think the big problem with the flies for us was we were the only source of moister for them. They tend to get in gangs and lift your eyelid to get it.
  19. Gold Hound how many doses of Vegemite Sandwiches do you need. Anymore than two could be fatal for Non-Aussies 🀣
  20. If you have enough in your super to keep you when you retire. Then not using it while trying to make a living off of gold you can boost it with investment. With my savings and gold found not touching my super for an additional 8 or so years, doubled what I started with, and did I have a great time doing it.
  21. See if it works now. Whether or not I agree it is very clever.🀣 https://odysee.com/@OzFlor:7/QP:9
  22. Klunker a fire arm is very hard to get in Aust. Have not seen a rifle or hand guns for over 30 odd years except on law enforcement. 50 Calibre musket balls were very common on the gold fields here. Like dgatleyDP said a large buddy does the trick of keeping your hot spot. Here is FRED and his mates. But they are not for sale.
