  1. Hit local park before the blistering cold comes and came across this ring I thought was kiddie bling as you can see the plating on it but I saw a 925MO and it rang in like a silver. Acid test was bit off on Silver and Platinum test passed but I doubt it was platinum as it rang in up in the silver range. Turns out it was platinum plated silver with moissanite stones. Large one is 8mm and retails just under $800. Not bad for what I thought was junk.
  2. Flat pack Lipo LP-904085, 3.7v, 3700mAh 85mm including wrapper x 38mm x 10mm Seen some on ebay but they are in the UK. Amazon doesn't have them and trying to avoid the slow boat from China via Aliexpress.
  3. Many of the beaches here are pounded by the locals and mostly sanded. Towel lines and cuts been best for me. Labrador current and rip tides here make wading bit risky and sand fills in too fast. Besides I look really out of place with waders on in the middle of summer 🙂 River hunting I go for the lead edge of runs where you see gravel. If your hitting aluminum and sand your too far down. Still use my old Whites/Rtg basket scoop, put a fine hole bottom insert for the tinies. Hard to beat a 1.8 lb scoop.
  4. Flower thing might been a hat pin. Usually plated in silver or gold. Those are pretty cool. That place will keep you busy 🙂
  5. Only machine I regretted selling was the Gold Racer. Ended up getting another. Life without regrets is always good 🙂
  6. Spent a little time at a permission hunt. Was behind an old barn and dug this post Civ War token. First thought it was an IH penny until I got the dirt off it. My Niece was nice enough to find a better pic on the web. Finding stuff that you have no clue then uncover bits of history makes the day.
  7. Looks like it is made in Asia. Saw some noobtube videos and think your better off with better known brands.
  8. The thing that had a stone was probably a rosette. That field is huge. Looking at that made my knees hurt :0
  9. Looks similar to the one I started with but mine was late 80's-early 90's and had the goofy plastic shaft. Funny how they well they do on the nailboard test :)
  10. Did that come out before the Ground Hog? Buddy has his Dads Ground Hog but I think the pots are shot. Might see if I can get it running.
  11. Very sorry to hear that. 16 years is definitely a great run.
  12. Actually ferous are low conductors so they have a wide response when compared to high conductors. Low conductors can smother the signal of other objects, drag their response down or even mask objects called silent masking. This happens when the ferous object is small enough to fall into the ground balance range of the machine.
  13. Multi Kruzer and Kruzer really shine with 3 tone mode, 89 gain and 5x9.5 coil. Does have increidble separation. Stock coil is ok in moderate/low trash but sensitive to EMI. Depth between the 2 isn't all that significant. I use the smaller coil for fresh water beach hunting for small jewlery. I'll try 5khz next time out, usually use 14 or 19 unless iron is too much.
  14. Mojave sounds almost identical to the Cibola. Cibola has a true all metal pinpoint, fixed gb where Mojave has 3 settings. Cibola also has a threshold control that can boost target response. Silver Sabre has the older audio circuit so it has nuances the other 2 don't. If you can get a good deal on one you would like it. Fixed GB on the Tesoro's isn't that much of a big deal on the ED120 circuits as they run really stable in iron infestation unlike the Lobo and Tejon with ED 180 that will pick up on the tiniest bits of crap like rusty chunks, coal, hot rocks, tiny foil etc. Coin and relic the 120 circuits are less fussy and work well.
  15. I think Glenn and JCR are right it's a soldering iron. I have an antique ice pic and even an old soldering iron put away. There is no way of putting the fat end into a piece of wood as a handle, point side is put in.
  16. Carl you were spot on about the cable being bad. I have 2 other coils with similar issue but not sure if I can repair them as they have Garrett connectors. Thanks for your help.
  17. Be more concerned with coil failure than components. Cables and connectors are more likely to fail over time as they get the most abuse. I have 3 coils that have gone bad. Lost performance but actually still worked. Took some smart tweezers to them and found that the Rx had no resistance but had some reduced impedance. Tx seemed to be fine but typically Tx have a heavier wire guage. Opened up the connection on my Nel Superfly and discovered one of the Rx was broken. Looked to be from corrosion and thinking back the 3 coils I have had fail were all in the salt quite a bit and connectors and potting was on the shotty side. I carefully moved the shielding on wire out of the way and made a small jumper. Sealed it up with a good dose of liquid electrical tape (possible the best invention in the world ever!) Coil runs like a champ now.
  18. Well it at least covers parking 🙂 Congrats!
  19. I have a Nokta Pulsedive. Nice pointer and built like a tank BUT it is not sensitive to small jewlery like earrings, chains. and I believe other pi pointers are similar. Between the Quest and Nokta I think the Nokta one is deeper from what I had seen on Noobtube.
  20. 3d printed flexible would be TPA. Not sure what your part looks like that keeps breaking but it might be possible to cast a better one out of urethane or silicone. You have a pic of the broken one?
  21. High end jewelry get it appraised and don't hit a coin or pawn shop they only give you scrap price on just the metal. Not uncommon to have a $1200 stone stuck in $50 of gold. GIA will run ya $100 a ring.
  22. Look it over on Lidar see if there were out buildings in the area, might been a dump near one that has been long torn down and plowed over when they rotated crops.
  23. Setting iron break at 33 should eliminate the iron trash like nails and smaller. This still keeps the better stuff. 40-50 can be bits of coal and coke, thin brass, foil, can slaw and high end gold chains, med size earings, pendands, rings. Nickels break at about 52 but not uncommon to have them come in lower depending on orientation in ground. Beefy 10k rose gold can be higher. Coppers will run as high at 92 (large cent) Silvers range from 58-60 (trime) through 90 (silver half dollar) With a lot of trash you can cherry pick your way through using the notch discrim and make passes over the area but don't notch too close to desired target range. Lastly, numbers can vary quite a bit if there are other targets the machine is sensing at the same time so in high iron trash areas try to hit targets from different angles and when in doubt, dig. HH
  24. If your new to the AT Pro the stock coil will be ok for most situations. I am looking to snag a viper coil for mine. Another alternative is the 5x8 for trashy areas. Good iron break point for relic hunting is 32-33 or where an old iron cut nail just breaks. Use pro audio. The AT Pro tends to ground balance on the high side so I often ground balance then manually drop it down about 5 ie if it is 90 ill drop it to 85. This will help on depth and squeak out an extra inch or so. Lastly you can keep iron audo off and use it if you have some jumpy numbers to iron check targets. Larger iron and flat iron like washers can give higher numbers and iron audio will give you a grunt to confirm this. Happy Hunting!
