  1. The hot glue is used quite a bit to keep trim pots from moving as well as keeping connectors from working loose. You will probably see more variations between machines because the components have a tolerance +/- and lower grade components will have a higher percentage. Newer models should be better than old if the manufacturer updates the pcb and any chips with improved circuits.
  2. I have one as the pinpointer. Very well built but lacks sensitivity to tiny targets. As a diving detector it isn't very deep. Comparing it to a Seahunter with same size 8" coil the Seahunter is way deeper. However it would be a really good choice for snorkeling since your probably not going to dig deep anyways. There is no discrimination on it so you will be digging all with it.
  3. Depends what and were your hunting. Big coils can be counter productive. I run small narrow coils in trashy areas or where mineralziation is high and only have a few spots I can run a large coil. Large coils have poor separation and more prone to emi. Other downside is weight.
  4. I have a small batch going to Backwoods Detectors. Still sorting pricing as shipping slaughtered me on materials.
  5. I change coils on my machines quite a bit, always hated the way velcro twists around. I also lost a couple of coils from Nel and Mars as their connectors aren't all that sturdy and the heavy cable wire likes to bunch up which eventually breaks the connections inside the strain reliefs. Something for you guys to think about when winding the cables on the shafts. I came up with a cleat and cast a bunch out of urethane so they are gentle on the wires. So far cleats are working really well for me. I will be shipping a batch out on monday but figured I would post what they look like for those that may want something better. Not sure how well they will work on 3 section shaft systems like the 900 and Manticore have. I have to check that out. Used my initials for the name to add that touch of cheesiness 🙂 Questions, comments etc all welcome. Thanks Ken
  6. Thats a really good idea, never thought about the vapes, I usually dig them and toss in rubbish to get them out of the parks. I did save the battery as it still works and thought I might jinx myself if I tossed it. New battery definitely lasting a lot longer.
  7. Was going to buy the Cors Butterfly directly from Ukrain and my gut said no....... Both companies suppsed to be starting back up this spring.
  8. Is it worth it for ML to make a diving pi when they have the Excall that has discrim to it? Garrett already has the diving pi with the Seahunter and that machine hits an old piece of lobster trap just as well as other pi's lol
  9. Installed new batterand it powers up fine, taking a charge and seems to be good to go.
  10. Give the F5 a good run, even take another machine with you to cross check. Be interesting how it does.
  11. That is true. I use all metal mode to try to pick out stuff from mixed targets like a chunk of rust and maybe, just maybe something else so ID's don't really need to be all that accurate. It also helps when there are hot rocks around as true all metal you get a null on negative rocks that can change target responses on targets nearby making them unstable. Very hard to hear a negative hot rock in any discrimination mode. Still an effective way to hunt by size and depth in moderate and low trash areas. Have any of you used non motion detecting? Like the Bandido's or Outlaw? Could see that working well unless there is a lot of trash.
  12. How deep do you really need to go? I often hunt with the Mulit Kruzer in all metal, most the time I just get a -- but still hear a target of some sorts. I will toss it into 2 tone or deep to check the target more if is sounds like a good size target. Good way to scout out for deeper targets in less trashy areas. F5 with it's low frequency should run pretty smooth in tougher grounds. Not sure how much a bigger coil will go or if it's worth the $$. I have better success with smaller coils than slugging large coils around but really depends on the grounds.
  13. Funny Joe sent me a message on this battery and I had just ordered one earlier! Didn't see that one before on ebay. Not sure if you took yours apart yet but they don't have threaded inserts so be careful not to strip the plastic. Popping it apart is easy but do it evenly as there is a pin rail connecting the display/control board to the circuits that are mounted on back half. Old battery is double face taped and has a rubber strap holding it in place.. There is also a thermal sensor you need to tape onto the new battery.
  14. I believe the F5 is a little shy on depth compared to F75 and T2. The AT Max is a very deep machine but the only thing I don't like about it for all metal is the threshold isn't fine enough. Set at 1 it is too loud for my taste and 0 I feel like I am missing something. Alternatively I can run my Tejon in AM with pitch mode on and 2nd disc to junk check (something you can probably do well with your Vista X), or I use my Gold Racer as it has nice isat control with good tracking. Gold Racer also has imask to handle any hot rocks I run into which are common along the river near me and lake shores. F5 has been discontinued. I almost bought one but seems that Fisher remapped nickels up near pennies in disc modes so targets aren't in natural order. I use nickels as a break point or reference for the hight end mark of most gold jewlery. Moving that point up near coins will put me into the flip tab mark in junk. Not sure if the remapping effects all metal on the F5?
  15. Both Ebay and Amazon have been known to sell knockoffs. Something you don't hear about from authorized dealers. End of the day you will get better service from a small reliable dealer and often solid opinions of a machine than you will from Ebay or Amazon. Granted Ebay has quite a few dealers selling on them. Amazon beats up on merchants badly. I limit my purchasing there in particular. What is funny is many of the big importers will sell on Ebay, Amazon and Ali Express often with the same product but different names. Quite a bit of those products come from Alibaba. Wonder how many of those products will dry up if there is a conflict with China and the west?
  16. Your Exactly Right. As usual what we see year after year is the hype behind the latest machines and we will continue to see it as that is how marketing works. Unfortunately there are quite a few people who test the latest machines for free then pimp them out as the best thing ever!
  17. Not a fan of Amazon, not much different than Ebay. Better off with a known trusted dealer.
  18. Very nice, lot of copper in those large class rings. That rose gold has pretty high conductivity.
  19. Thanks that makes sense. I'll open it up again and measure how much room I have inside. The thickness is a little critical as they have a rubber strap that holds it inside and there is a thermal sensor that sits on the battery so if it gets too hot the machine will automatically shut down. I am more inclined to just remove the internal battery and use the external pod only instead. What I have to figure out is if I remove the internal battery and there is nothing on the terminal pins will the machine see the external battery? I say that because if my external battery runs out the machine will not turn on unless I disconnect the pod from the control box and only then will it start again using the internal battery. My guess it might just work fine and if not maybe put a jumper across the terminals inside. Hate popping this machine apart too many times as the frame only has screws going into plastic, no threaded inserts so I need to be careful not to strip any of them out. Machine has already had a leak which was disappointing. Still not happy with the way Nokta discontinues a product and scrubs support for older products. What happens few years down the road with the newer machines? No matter probably my last Nokta products, time for couple of band-aids and move on.
  20. Doing a factory reset on all machines could be a pain when it comes to machines that many of us tediously tweak the settings for the various modes. You would think with the usb port on the new machines the factories would be kind enough to let us backup our custom settings to a usb drive, computer or even a phone. Pretty sure I emailed Nokta ages ago about that as a suggestion on the Kruzers but it never went any wheres. ATP it's a must to get best performance for the coil. The Kruzer I have never noticed any differences from changing coils.
  21. I still haven't see how well the concentric coil works on it on Monte's nailboard test. I think the machine isn't as popular with many dishing out serious $$$$ on the new machines out there.
  22. Part is LP-904085 3700MhA 3.7v Dimensions: 85mm x 38mm x 10mm Only place I could find them was on Aliexpress that had that number and size. It seems that the same part number comes in different proportions. Good possibility this particular one is discontinued. Other option is to see if I can run the unit without the internal battery and use the external pod only. Might need to put in a jumper on the connector but don't know.
