  1. Hello all, I was wanting to know if anyone else is having problems logging on, or navigating the forum! I've had to try many times to log on , and then navigation throws errors too! Kac, and a few others are also having issues! Is anbody else experiencing problems?? Let me know!!??
  2. Even more fun to follow his grid (if he's done there!) to see what he missed! Or the areas on his swing fringe! Especially if he was moving fast! There is always missed items!!??
  3. The finds are simply the icing on the cake! The cake is a given! The great places and people, along with the exercise, and fresh air is it's own reward! Especially lucky when your not having to deal with weather extremes, and can just enjoy the simple things, while detecting!??
  4. So true Mn, But I'm always amazed, and saddened? by how much trash, many of them leave behind!! Pure laziness!!???
  5. I have yet to see a snake that can outrun my shovel, if he gets to close! Or my shotgun, or my 22 snake shot! But, i don't go out of my way to get rid of them! They serve a purpose! Just have to be mindful of their hiding places, when exploring!? Now ticks, knats, horseflies, mosquitos, noseeums! No use at all!? ??
  6. Do you have a few pics of some of those cleaned up? So we can see what they looked like originally? Thanks! And I'm glad the new detector is working well for you! Keep up the good work!???
  7. All right Gerry!!, You and the rest have already made me use up all my likes today!! Unless you all are gonna get Chase to take the cap off, stop making me laugh!!???
  8. Bought a set a few weeks ago! I have been listening to music and podcasts, etc.. with them! Very nice and comfortable! Haven't been detecting with them yet!!?? (Already out of likes today?! Gerry M. And other funny guys got most of them!?)!!
  9. I don't remember if you said you ever tried an Equinox on that site, but it should also find those tiny targets! I know it's found me some very small copper and brass on the beaches! Thanks for the info and finds!??
  10. Flydog, I'm very fond of exclamation mark's at the end of every sentence! But I'm not yelling, it's just my thing!!? THIS IS YELLING FROM ME!! Of which, you will never see!! (Well, just this once, for exclamation purposes)!???
  11. Good point Gary, I feel the same way! I'm sure she left contact info, if she did not find whatever it was she was looking for! Simon, you could have just beaned her with a snowball, or empty soda bottle, with your contact info stuffed inside! She was wearing a helmet, after all!! ⛷⛑??? ** (just kidding guys!)
  12. Agreed GB! Monte, your a walking, talking, and posting encyclopedia of detecting knowledge! I'm well behind GB, and many others here, but I appreciate any info you are willing to share! I will work at unraveling all that you impart! Thanks!!?? And by the way, I will email you to get on the WTHO contact list! One of these days I would like to get out there with you all!!??
  13. I think you did the right thing! Using some unknown and probably inferior detector would have been a pointless endeavor! And besides, judging from the shadow, it look's like you were enjoying time with the family! That's more important!! Good on you, for a possible next day hunt with equipment you know and trust! Better to not have her around anyway, to avoid a thousand questions; to distraction! And possibly more disappointment, from her and others, probably burying it deeper with their efforts!? And who know's if that is even where it was lost? May have been a guess on her part!! Just finding out what was lost, and returning it if possible, is sufficiently kind of you!! Good luck!? On and off the slopes!??
  14. I watched the podcast Steve! Thanks!? Debbie had some great info on many ML subjects! As far as the overtightening is concerned, that can happen on any shaft! The brass female fittings are on the pod side, and are moulded into the pod! They will seperate, if the screws are over torqued! Just snug is fine! They can be checked occasionally, but I have yet to have any of the screws back out on me, with many hours of swinging! Now, I have had three coils replaced for coil ear breakage! And that is with frequent washer replacement! Sooo....!? Concerning the bubbles, there is a small area where air is "trapped" between the shaft and the battery seal door! Maybe some short term bubbles from that would be normal! Anything longer, and water may be entering into the pod! But by then, it's probably too late to prevent damage!??
  15. I have one that I have used before! Makes no difference concerning a leaking pod, as none of the shafts have a seal! The battery compartment in the handle, has it's own seal with a small white membrane "breather" hole for; I'm guessing, gas relief! ML has not, to my knowledge, ever given an exact cause, or location for leaks! I've had two pods replaced under warranty, without any problem, or explanation of what was wrong! Neither pod was a leaker; they had other issues! And while slightly inconvenient not having my Nox to use, their service turnaround time was about a week or two, with the Covid delays! Not bad!!??
  16. Another reason to know what your swinging, is your experience level with a particular detector! The more information you give, the more help (if you want it), that can be given! I'm assuming that is why your here on the forum! GB, Kac, and many others here, are vastly more knowledgeable than myself! And probably have used the same detector(s) at some point! So that is why information about your equipment and experience is important! We ask everyone new to the forum this information and more, if they did not put it in their introduction in the Meet & Greet section! And sometimes we may ask more than once, depending if we read the introductions! I hope that makes our inquiries better understood!???
  17. I think an oval cross section would be easier to make, due to no sharp edges! But the one to ask is Steve G.! I'm sure he knows what shapes are doable in carbon fiber! A triangle or round shaped silicone bumper could be adhered to the edges of a coil very inexpensively, that would make it hydrodynamic, and act as a bumper! It would also add some more weight to the coil! Just off-the-cuff ideas!??
  18. Us knowing what your swinging would be a great help!??
  19. Tvr and GB are on the money, If the site is indeed worthwhile, and is accessible for multiple hunts, than detrashing the site may pay great dividends! Start with what you have, and be patient! You can grid small areas to clean out to start, and test your theory of old treasures! Any historical pictures, or aerial maps may help you to focus on the best areas to start!! Keep us posted! ???
