  1. Caleb, Pinpointing with the 800; or any detector, takes some practice! The same applies to pinpointers! You have the right attitude to learn! It's just a matter of putting in the time! Your grandfather left you some solid equipment; don't let it rattle you! And remember, there are no stupid questions! And congrats on the old dime! Post a pic!!??
  2. The old school virus is spreading! ? And i am out of likes already! Hit you back later bigtim! My MXT is due to hit the door anytime today!!??
  3. Caleb, Commit this to memory: There are no stupid questions on this forum!! If anyone says any different, Steve H., and the rest of us will make sure that person know's better, soon after!! Everyone here is at different levels of experience! And any egos should be left at the forum doorway!!??
  4. What type of materal are the seals and O-Rings?? Salt water is rough on many rubber compounds! That may be one of the problems with some of the other submersible detectors on the market right now!!??
  5. Yes Wow, Impressive collection! I'm now entering a stage in my life where i really want to start shedding stuff I've collected, and held on to, for way too long! I'm hoping to be moving within the next year, and i need to shed much that i no longer have a need, or attachment for! I'm sure i will feel less stress, when i finally get this ongoing process accomplished! ??
  6. Great post, You all are getting me more excited about the goodies i have coming soon! For the G2+: An Ultimate 13" and a Nel Snake 6.5 x 3.5 (Simon's Recommendations!)?? For the MXT Pro: An Ultimate 13" and an Ultimate 7" I resisted buying any more coils for the Nox 800, because i wanted a better selection, or aftermarket one's! But it appears that ML will not ever make them, or allow anyone else to either! (800 traded away now!)? But I'm excited to try out the new detectors and coils! Talk about a kid in a candy store!? I even got a $100 gift card, and a free digging tool with the coil order! Not too bad! (MetalDetector.com)! I will post updates under my post "A Tail of Two Detectors✌", as i experiment with these new combinations!! Wish me Luck!!?? **And one more thing!! If anyone can help me find someone who makes or sells a multi-piece dust cover for the MXT Pro, it would be very much appreciated! I've been looking all over for one!! I've only seen ONE out of the Ukraine, and it would take about 2 months to get here!! And didn't have a visor!!
  7. Simon, With all you post about what you do, i don't think anyone here, is ever going to label you as being lazy! I would take your definition of lazy any day!!???
  8. Joe, Don't beat yourself up too bad! I've done the same thing a few times!!???
  9. Hey Rick, I like what you said about the T2! This is part of my recent line of thinking in my recent switch in detectors! I just bought a G2+ and a MXT Pro! It seems like a counterintuitive move from the Nox 800 that i traded! But in my mind, i think it will be a good move! And i will be more successful! Time will tell!??
  10. Hey Bill, I found some nylon shims, or washers that were about that thickness at Lowes, in the specialized hardware drawers! I used those in conjunction with the rubber shims! I also was able to take different thicknesses of the Detect-Ed shims and put two on each side of the shaft head! That seemed to work better than the shims! They gave more resistance to coil movement, than the nylon shims! Without over tightening! And making contact with the shaft head!??
  11. Welcome to the forum, My dad calls my son Dougman!? I just told my son that he's been on the forum without me!? Nice to have a rock hound here to identify the variety members find!??
  12. My Treasure Products 585 pinpointer did pick up very small metals, but you had to be relatively close to it with the tip! But I've used it for years without any problems! I don't have any gold nuggets to test on, or i would let you know! It does pick up very small lead! I'll do some tests with both!??
  13. Very good!?? She will be up and skiing in no time! More work watching out for boys!! Instead of guns, can just clean your detectors, if a boy comes to call! You can tell them you have many, and your not afraid to use them!???
  14. If the folding stand is the one I'm thinking of; it's OK! The problem i was having with it was i could not get it to tighten up enough! My detector would rotate in the clamp! And i didn't want to overtighten and break it! But i think if i put a few dabs of silicone on it, and reinstall, that may solve this! I've seen the other one also! It looks very sturdy, but it's a fixed stand, and may get in the way with headphone wires, or storage!??
  15. I'm happy about a video! Thanks!! But sad about your daughter's arm! When my son was younger, he broke his arm falling off a slide! I took one look at it, and asked him what color cast did he want!( he got purple)!? I'm glad it wasn't anything more serious!???
  16. The two that Simon suggested above! I think they will be an awesome combination for the main places i hunt! Now i just need some cooler weather!??
  17. I haven't used my two coils yet, but have used the straight tip on the beach! I did have a hard time finding very small metal pieces that my 800 found very easily, but couldn't find in the sand! But coin sized items and other stuff, it was fine and dandy so far!!??
  18. The color won't be an issue at all for me! I've already ordered 2 new coils and a detector cover! And i have a spare aluminum cuff! So the color will never see the light of day now! Thank's Simon for the suggestions! ???
  19. Maybe someone filled it with gold and silver before burying????
  20. Garrett AT Pro still, and for several years! And (just traded away), Nox 800!??
  21. Sorry Caleb, I'm out of likes again! But i have plenty of these!!?????????????
  22. Hey Dan, Are they already drawing it down for winter? Or is it drought related? Nice finds, and that's a lot of trash!!??
  23. Hello Pete, Welcome to the forum! No! There is no difference in the two cables! They supply two, so you have a backup, and so you can charge two parts at the same time! Call Minelab service if you continue to have issues! They will help you! Service is very good!! Good Luck!!??
