GPX 6000 Arrives In U.S.

Recommended Posts

Just got an email from Serious Detecting saying they have GPX 6000, but follow link to website, sold out. No surprise. Scuttlebutt is nearly all dealers are getting single digit quantities on this first go, with more coming later. I won't pretend to know what that means, except that a few people will have these in hand by next week or sooner. A person might find a dealer with unspoken for units if they are very fast about it. Once this first batch is gone, it's the waiting game again.

Awhile back I heard from Minelab saying small numbers coming in June, then main shipment in July.

I got it in writing and I'm holding them to it! Haha

Hope lives on, thanks Steve!

No wonder that Minelab is so slow getting the 6000 to the US it’s as plain as your nose on your face.

They using land turtles but they need water turtles being Australia is surrounded by water.

Here a old fart had to show you young bucks the problem.

I have been looking hard at computers, and the reality in anything electronic is that chip shortages are really gumming up the works. Some things cannot be had, or if they can, scalping is common. I am speculating that Minelab could only get enough components to make only so many detectors and coils (chips in coils folks). If so, they would have had to pick which markets get what, and when. I've seen this impacting everything from ATVs to cars and you name it. Long story short, it is probably more frustrating for Minelab than us in some ways, as they have big bucks in play. Still, would not a simple explanation help make people feel like they are dealing with a company that shares their concerns? Companies are generally clueless about how small actions, or lack of small actions, really irritate their customer bases. Lots of latent anger in the Minelab customer base they are apparently blind to, or are clueless as to how to address it. Clear, honest communications is the secret sauce so few companies understand. Make people feel like wallets to be mined, and people resent it. Everyone wants a good partner in a company, and very few companies offer that vibe.

I think you’re correct Steve; the semiconductor shortage due to Covid disruption, spike in demand from manufacturers starting back up, in addition to the explosion in crypto mining has made it really difficult to even get basic GPU (I’m still trying to get a 3080). While it’d be easy to hate on a big company that has a near monopoly on high end detectors, and they aren’t doing themselves any favors with the lack of transparency, I have to cut them some slack.

But, that being said…. I’m going bonkers as I’m flooded out of doing any kind of dredging due to continued spring runoff, and that damn detector can’t get here fast enough.
