Melano87
Hi, A distant acquaintance offers me a CTX 3030 for the price of a Nox 800. Having a Nox 800, I wanted to know if the CTX3030 might be of interest to me. I only practice in lands, woods, fields etc (never beach), I don't need its GPS function. In France, it is complicated to get feedback from this detector outside the beach. In short, is the CTX3030 better than the Nox800? Aside from its lower recovery speed. Should we wait for future releases of Minelab devices in 2022? Thanks.
CPT_GhostLight
The Nox 800 is lighter and faster than the CTX 3030, but the CTX is a more sofisticated machine. There are pros and cons for each detector, but if you have the Nox 800 and are doing well with it, I'd stick with that. The machine is only part of the detecting equation. The more you know about your machine, the places you hunt, and the things you are hunting for, the more you will find in the ground. It is highly likely that Minelab will bring out a new high end detector to replace the aging CTX before too long. These are just my opinions but I hope they help. Steve Herschbach
https://www.detectorprospector.com/forums/topic/5715-minelab-e-trac-ctx-3030-excalibur-versus-equinox/ https://www.detectorprospector.com/forums/topic/6935-equinox-or-ctx-3030/ https://www.detectorprospector.com/forums/topic/10145-thoughts-on-ctx-and-equinox-after-long-term-use/ https://www.detectorprospector.com/forums/topic/10804-equinox-800-and-ctx-3030/ https://www.detectorprospector.com/forums/topic/13980-ctx-vs-equinox-800/ For me it’s simple. If I was offered a CTX for same price as an Equinox, I’d grab it. You can debate performance all you want, but that’s half what the machine is worth used. You can’t go wrong, assuming it’s in good condition. Try it, and if you don’t like it, sell it and put extra money in your pocket.

maxxkatt
You will dig way less junk on the CTX than the 800. I had the 800 for 3 years, and the CTX now for 3 months. Finding a lot more silver coins with digging fewer holes. If the CTX3030 says it is a deep silver, they it is very likely a deep silver coin. ☠ Cipher
I payed $1,100 for my CTX, then another $200 for a 17” coil with Grey Ghost underwater headphones. It’s been worth every penny. Not only is the CTX one of the best discriminators ever made, it’s also fun to use, and this is a lot about having fun, otherwise why do it right. There’s also the lock and key factor. CTX is strong where Nox is weaker, and vice versa. It’s nice to have both.
Melano87
Thanks for replies « Maxxkatt » and « « Cipher ». After testing both over several weeks, yes the Nox may be more reactive but with the CTX there is no comparison. We know what's under the 98% coil with the Ctx3030 and the right programs. And the performance is deeper.
