So sorry to hear as well. Met Monte back in the late 80's when he was with Compass.  Knowledgeable detectorist and great guy. He will be missed.

I'm sorry to hear that. I never met Monte directly, but via his many posts years ago about the early Tesoro detectors and relic hunting with them in dense iron. That was always his thing and he was very expert at it, and shared that knowledge with many others. He was well known for putting on hunts at western ghost town locations where one and all were invited. They say we live on as long as we are remembered by others, and many people will have fond memories of Monte for a very long time.

My condolences to his family and friends in this difficult time.  ~ Steve Herschbach

I never met Monte, but I almost feel as I knew him. So sorry that he has passed. He was amazing in his knowledge of metal detecting, and one of the reasons that bought a Tesoro detector after having a Compass for many years. He has helped so many people in this hobby.

Prayers for his family. He will be missed.

He will be missed. I have spoken on the phone with him a few times and about a year ago bought a metal detector from him. We had a good hour long visit at his home here in Utah. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family.
