You are one persistent detectorist and I salute you sir.

Nice finds reward your effort indeed.

👍🏻

Thanks Colonel,

It's becoming strategy now, many of the places I have permission to were detected by others, either with or without permission. 🤬 Mostly without in some cases, but I won't accept "I don't think they'll mind " as permission.

Strategy and persistence produced some pretty great finds at one of the more high profile places. 🙂

It's fun to see "Farm Hunting 101" proving itself. 😀

Think most my 2 cents are 65's but believe I have a 64 too but its a large moto.

The unpopular 2 Cent piece was only minted for 10 years, that last one 1873 being only 600 proofs, not for circulation but rather for collectors.  43.5% were dated 1864 and 29.9% dated 1865.  That leaves just 26.6% to be minted in the final 8 years.  I don't recall anyone here showing one that wasn't dated either '64 or '65.  Also pretty sure all the '64s that have been shown were the more common Large Motto.  Except for the two double die varieties (in 1867 and 1872) and the 1873 proofs, the Small Motto 1864 is easily the most valuable of the series.  (Hope you got one of those, F350.  😁)

Thanks for the background info, GB! 👍 Always appreciated.

Here's a closer photo of the latest 1864:

And the coin I found a month or so ago:

I'm thinking they are both the "large motto", but just finding one was great. 🙂

I think that's the best I can get out of either one.

The lower photo (your earlier find) does appear to be the more common Large Motto.  I can't see enough detail on your recent find to distinguish.  I'm assuming you looked at the PCGS page which shows both varieties in high resolution.

I've got one slightly better photo, and I downloaded the comparison:

I'm going by the word "TRUST", which appears to have one larger side on the "U", making it the large motto version. 🙂

Thanks for the specific link!

I'd be happy with a 1964 !  Those look so much better though .

WTG as always 350 !

I usually bypassed the lowlands by traveling on 81 (95-90-84-81-40 I'll never go through VA on 95 again ! )  towards N-ville (either one) but am very tempted to take a eastern loop next time to visit. Roanoke hill would be nice to miss , I always ended up on the breakdown so the trucks in the slow lane could pass ! In both directions...   LOL

Thanks RVP. 🙂

Yeah 95 is the worst especially coming through DC into Northern Virginia, all the way to Fredericksburg. I've been stuck in 3 hour traffic jams there. 🤬

Then you get on the road to where I live, and you get no traffic but the town distance signs always seem to show they are further away. 😠
