  1. Nice ! those V nickels can sometimes be in rough shape. Funny how one is red and the other is green. I hit a park last night for a couple house...one junk ring and a bunch of coins...I was very impressed with the Nox I picked the trashiest spot in the park and went through swinging fast and was able to clearly pick out the high tones and zero in on them. strick
  2. Check this out if you have not already. http://nevada-outback-gems.com/prospecting_info/majuba_mtns.htm No problem getting your truck and camper over there. Make sure you have a good spare for each. Anyone can go for a hunt but it's your responsibility to make sure you are not on someones claim....that can be confusing if there are no mining signs posted. Most of it is public land that you are free to camp on. There are almost always prospectors there and most are friendly. Watch the heat during the summer months...there are no trees lol strick
  3. And I think we know the real reason he switched to the TDI SL strick
  4. Dig the lower tones as well down to 12.03 and up to the nickel ID and you may get a gold ring. Looking forward to seeing you up in gods country this summer. strick
  5. Theres a lot of things we don't need in life lol but why is it manufactures include a stand with their detector shafts (at least every one that I have bought) but Anderson leaves it out? and their main business is making detector shafts? strick
  6. Hunting pounded out sites is fun just to see what the new technology can pull out of them. I hit a coupe today and the Nox did not disappoint. I think I'm starting to like Park 2...and it seems that proper ground balance is necessary when out in the field? I'm still learning this thing without reading the manual lol Thats a good hunt for a pounded site. Thanks for sharing.. strick
  7. What happened to the stand? wouldn't it be nice to have the stand? they did that with the carbon fiber shaft I bought for the Garret At gold I used to have. I had to jury rig the stand back in place. Not very hard to do but it was annoying that they did not include a stand... I wont be buying one without a STAND! Just my opinion strick
  8. I'd venture to say you did very well on your first hunt with the Nox Keep up the struggle it's a very sensitive machine.... we are all learning right now. strick
  9. Mitchel it depends on what Steve's definition of "sighting" is strick
  10. Love that opal...my wife would confiscate it immediately I just cant bring myself to notch out stuff that would fall into the small gold range..for me the coins are a bonus because it's the jewerly I'm looking for in the parks...I'm not going to be digging many targets in the 1-6 range in the parks but when I hit a beach I most likely will dig those looking for small gold chains. Went to a park day before yesterday and was digging anything 8 and above that hit solid...got two rings both costume stuff...one really had me fooled for a second. Might get off work early today so I'm fired up about relics this weekend. strick
  11. It was a rusty bottle cap that he dug...so no difference if thats what your asking. strick
  12. yep most of the iffy stuff turns out to be junk....but you never know till you dig...so I still dig lots of crap hoping it's a good target next to iron or something else thats masking it. Hit another park...yesterday....no gold but got a small silver ring... ID in the copper penny range. strick
  13. He put the detector in all metal and pumps it over the target and the numbers go negative which tells him its most likely junk...to be honest I probably would not have went through the trouble of even doing that as the target sounded like crap to begin with and the numbers were jumping around. strick
  14. I dont notice much of a lag but there is something lacking in the wireless headphones. This may be just speculation on my part because I have not tried my WM-08 module and my usual top of the line head phones. I'm used to the CTX and it's Combined tones which is not available in the Nox.. Charged the WM-08 tonight and will try this week. Thanks for posting! strick
  15. i'm enjoying your videos on the Nox...they are a big help thx! strick
  16. Got my machine last week threw it on the charger and went for a quick 1.5 hour hunt before dark. Did not even wait for it to fully charge. Went to one of my relic spots...a sort of baptism of fire spot due to it being loaded with iron... I used field 1 did a noise cancel and started swinging..thats it. Found some goodies in a pounded out spot that the CTX and Deus has been over countless times. Also dug a bunch of nails lol something I don't usually do with the CTX and Deus. I was pleased with the machine however. Second hunt was the same.... had an hour and a half before dark after work so I hit a not so trashy park that I've been over a lot with the CTX...Got a nice 14K gold ring! 2 grams and a solid 10 on the ID. I'm thinking I'm off to a great start. I'm impressed with the machines ability to find deep low conductors...this thing is going to good for gold rings. Dug some deep nickels as well. I'm very busy this time of year with work so the hunts have to be short but we are heading to the beach next week for 3 days of R&R so hopefully some rings will reveal themselves. HH strick
  17. Nox is way faster...loves low deep conductors. I had a love affair going on with the CTX for quite a while and it's going nowhere but where the CTX would blend in a coin spill with a chorus of wierd sounding tones, the Nox will pick them out individually with the right tone and proper ID...it's just faster. strick
  18. Nice work I guess you can call those Eolian deposits... strick
  19. Nice period stuff there...glad to see the nox is working well for you. So which program do you like better P2 or F2? strick
  20. If I could get the Carrot's to hold up they would be my favorite for sure. I have two and they both still work but on the first one the button is broke...barley touch it and the thing turns on..the second the light wont turnoff even after the unit powers off the light is still on...not good on the batteries. The TRX is my back up and works fine...just not as powerful as the Carrots strick
  21. Please elaborate on how the Equinox is able to ignore these? CTX ignores bottle caps but not pull tabs so how can the Equinox ignore both? Just a friendly question strick
  22. Wait till people start showing gold rings they found with their 600 on you tube and the forums and then the 600 will start moving fast. It's the early adaptors... the hard core detectorists that are buying the 800.. the ones that want all that features that are making the 800 sell. These are the early posters on the forums...The average guy will go for the 600 once they realize it's almost as good. IMHO strick
  23. Perfect as that's kinda the way i was leaning..this thread kinda got off topic but that's ok as I'm always learning on this great site...a little extra digging is not that big a deal an I'm looking forward to some great finds with the nox. Strick
  24. Thanks fellas for the education...although some of it is getting even more blurry...so highly mineralized ground better to have fast recovery speed..low mineralized ground lower the recovery speed.....Iron biased set high equals missed targets when in nails but better for beginners at parks lol. I'll be looking for a happy medium like Cabin Fever.. strick
