  1. Nice work the surf is on the rise now if I can only drag myself to the beach...it's about an hour and a half away. Thanks for posting. strick
  2. I'll follow your lead Mitchel. Couple rings form the parks last weekend. The gold one is 14k stamped and was around 12-02 on the ctx... could have been a piece of foil/tin. strick
  3. Dude! Hey I recognize that place! Thanks for the tip J/K of course. strick
  4. Nice assortment you got going there. Do you have an acid test kit? you can check the ring easily. lots of nice rings have no hallmark yours looks a little on the thin side but second pic makes wonder if it's gold. I like the old key fob. strick
  5. Thanks for the info on that I've been telling myself it was part of a pipe stem but yours is a perfect match! strick
  6. This first one kinda looks like a little pug dog....and the last one reminds me of my divorce...it was about all I had left after that was over... strick
  7. If I try hard enough this one looks kinda like a waskelly wabbit strick
  8. That would make a nice little pendant for someone Steve. Nice nugget. strick
  9. Fred I always figure I have something to learn with this hobby. I've been using the CTX exclusively since 2014 and I still feel I have more to learn about this machine. Deep sideways nickels can be tough and I know I've passed up lots of them...makes me wonder how many deep sideways gold rings I've walked over and not dug. Steve I did not do all that well last year either but I did not hit it as hard as I did the two previous years. I hope to get out more this year. I notice my wrist is starting to ache after a half day of using the Lesche hand tool. I hate to take my small Lesche shovel to a park but I might have to in a few years lol. strick
  10. Merton has the quarter but I believe it's not worth much as he already checked and it's very worn. The Jar had some powdery substance and what looked like herbs of some sort but it was defiantly not salt. I was too chicken to open it so it got tossed. Everything in Pic #1 was found using a sifter at an old burned down building. The porcelain thing in the 3rd pic was kinda cool it's a beer bottle stop and it has a late 1800's patent mark on it. It's a cool little item that just popped out of the dirt while I was digging a target. The old Kentucky watch fob I drove my pick through which ruined my day as it was the only cool thing I found that day. I made it worse trying to fix it so I bought one just like it on eBay for $20 lol. The Key with spline I believe might be to a light or lantern I was told by someone. Once in a while something will pop out while digging targets that is non metallic. Found lots of cool bottles etc like that but the sifter is the way to go for those. Thanks for the great questions! strick
  11. It was one year ago to the day on Christmas eve morning when I found one of my favorite gold rings at a local park/soccer/baseball field. Being somewhat superstitious I could not let the day go past without trying agin so this past Christmas eve I once again hit the park early in the morning. I've hunted this park many times and have cleaned most of the good targets so I'm down to digging almost everything that is not iron. This find is a good example of why you really should dig everything...I had the CTX in wide open screen and could barely hear this target in the 12.03 range. Target trace was weak and I almost passed it up because 99.9% of the time, a target in this range, that acts that way with target trace on is either "can slaw" or a thin piece of foil... But this time it was a nice 14K gold grill...my second that I've found. It's right at 8 grams. After I got it out of the ground I started passing it over the coil to see how it hit and depending on which way you were holding it would change the signal strength. It has a complex shape to it which also complicates the signal strength. I think it must have been upright when I found it about 4-5 inches deep in the turf. Anyway thanks for looking fellas and here are a couple pics of the ring along with the grill as well as some other jewerly finds from this past Fall/Winter. strick
  12. Been a while since I posted anything. I've been detecting only a little as I've been busy doing things with my property. When my buddy Merton aka "The Deus Man" says he going to be in the area I usually drop what I'm doing so we can go find some treasure. It's always fun hunting with Merton.... competing for the best finds...Merton loves to "rub it in" when he's winning and this trip there was a lot of that going on. Below are several finds from 2-3 different places. Merton scored the only coins and the nice eagle button. His Deus with the HF ellipitcal was an eye opener as he scored the German silver dime in a nail infested area I had previously been over with my Deus and CTX. Any way looking forward to my next hunt Merton so come back! strick
  13. I can barely pick it up ...I'll let you guys know how much but not sure when I'l get to doing it...as I'm still in collecting mode. strick

  15. I've only been detecting since 2014 but I've got a 5 gallon bucket that is overflowing with clad coins that I plan to cash in at some point. I've been wondering how much is in there lol strick

  18. There are several products out there that you can simply dip the head of the pin pointer into Flexseal.. plastidip etc.. then when you want to remove you just can use a dull knife and peel off.. strick
  19. I've never worn through the tip and I use then a lot. . My problem is they keep breaking internal. First one was the button became so sensitive if you just brushed it on your shirt it would turn on. Second one now the light won't turn off after the probe is turned off. Great probe otherwise. Neither have i sent back yet. strick
  20. That is what keeps us going. Theres always hope...thanks for posting that one of the most amazing finds I've seen. And I hunt a few spots in Amador. strick

I'll stick with my pouch.. strick
