  1. Dinner on the beach, sounds reasonable to me. Thats great stuff Chase. Thank You
  2. So my question to all is what is the largest item you have ever dared to dig. Mine was a 11 1/2'' bronze sun dial. I thought at first I found the worlds largest coin!!! Well it was a vintage 1980's sun dial. I got a good laugh and put a scratch on it, cause the target was so large. At 5'' pin pointing went out the window. (I still have it) I would love to hear your stories and photo's alike. Please don't be afraid to embarrass yourselves!!! We all had a what the hell am I thinking moment.
  3. Your going to enjoy this place Rob!! Nice people, Great topics and lots of photo's. I would love to see some of your bottle finds. I started out digging bottles when I was a kid. I love beer bottles!!! but I usually toss them when I'm done Ha Ha Ha
  4. Hit the park at 5:30am and finished up at 9:00am. I think I hurt myself!!! Anyone who thinks the MK is lacking is goofy!! Decided to run the knock sensitive/off center 11'' to make sure the problem wasn't me. The grass was wet and oddly the coils knock sens. was reduced. Still had the same huge centering problem. (Still waiting on the new coil to arrive), But that being said, Man did I find the coins. Most were at the 6'' to 8'' depth. Coin to trash was 0 until the old english cap and a pull tab (couldn't help myself). Any How, this is how it worked out, Hand cramps included!!!! Ha Ha Ha 15 Quarters 4 Nickles 29 Dimes 9 Pennies 6 Hand cramps
  5. The handle could be from a cane, But I thought it was a little small. The cup measures 3/4'' tall and 7/8'' in diameter + another 3/8'' for the handle. I was guessing play set also. Maybe I'll have a very little taste of esspresso tonight Ha Ha.
  6. After another long hot week and some things that are weighing heavy on my heart. I decided to hunt a little woodlot and creek to take my mind off the grind of life. I walked about 1000 yds down the creek with little luck until I found a odd item that looks like an umbrella handle. A short distance later I retrieved a very very small tea cup (cool). After striking out on the water, I thought that I might have better luck on terrafirma. Shotgun cases woo hoo!!! I then decided to hunt near a giant of an oak tree, every bit of 40'' through. Hoping for something good, I got a good deep hit. At around 11'' out popped a very large musket ball that measures .690 to .695. Thinking from a british brown bess. Spent another hour farting around and tripped up on a 97 number that kept bouncing down to the high 70's. Normally this would be coal, but the tone did not have the crackle that coal usually has. Woo Hoo out popped a 45 mercury dime. My second 45 in a very short time. Turns out that there were very small fragments of coal around the merc. The dime is cool, but I love Rev. War musket balls!!!! I ended my day with a 22 casing and a 22 bullet. Another good day with the MK!!! Time to have a beer and cool off!!!
  7. Great job with the hunt, Glad to see the little one learning the tricks of the trade.
  8. Prune fingers/toes = lots of rewards., Great job!!! I get prune fingers just from the humidity here in PA/ and no gold with it!! Glad to see your finding good stuff.
  9. Thanks Simon!!! I'm trying to find the good in this, and thank everyone for the info. I think that Nokta needs a good solid link to USA sales and service. Not just random internet sales, ect. This would take a big burdon off of the Turkish headquarters and allow for higher sales and controlled distribution and warranty concerns. The smaller the companies network web, the more issues they will have. Most companies have a hard time crossing the bridge of expansion, Which leads them down a path of failure. Trying to do more with less often comes at the cost of lost and disenfranchised customers. I'm no genius (high school education) but this dummy has done very well for himself understanding common sense. Nokta would be very wise to create a USA hub for all sales and service. Remember no one wants to spend money shipping an item to the end of the world to recieve the bad news of we won't cover that. Tons of Nokta supporters want to believe that the warranty means something. Understanding competion on products allows me to see into their business model. Competion can cause unnecessary panic and diversion of resources. This company makes one hell of a detector. They need to come to terms that they do. Customer service is king if you want to survive in a slowly shrinking environment. I understand that they deal with alot of BS claims and have to filter through the good from the bad. Like I said , I just want them to evaluate said coil at my cost or their's.
  10. Well we all know here the junk can sometimes get your heart a racing. Still better than the big fat 0. Good job, consider it practice. Glad you had some fun!!!
  11. I get all the reason's why in todays world, But we are a tech driven world also. Email, Zoom ect. are how we all live right now. I know of no company that does not send auto replies if there is something going on. Most times they will redirect you to a phone number to help with said problem. As for european shut downs I'm quite up on that. All will inform you of the shutdown and still give you info on how to still do business with them. My wife is a senior VP with a company that has 6000 employee's. She would terminate anyone who did not respond to a clients concerns in a 24 hour period. I think we all have been burned by warranty and insurance issues in every facet of our life. For me its getting old. I'm not that old, But I live by a code of helping people and treating them with respect. Not getting back to me is a form of disrespect. That being said the thing is I'm not sure the coil is bad, So I'm willing to pay all charges foward and back if it is not. If it is I would like a new coil even if they prorated and I had to pay shipping. I'm very easy going. As for the Dilek reach out, I like the whole chain of command thing (sorry). Going straight to the boss is BS, Her people should know how she wants things to work. Plus I doubt that she hasn't already been informed of my dismay, since she frequents this forum. At this point its all OK. I'll just purchase another coil and see if it resolves my problem. If not I will buy another MK and start over, I like the machine that much. They make a great product it's just their service that stinks.
  12. I'm not asking for the world, just a reply. I was expecting way better service since they make a well thought out machine. It's service like this, that make new detectors nervous to buy a higher dollar machine. Maybe if I was higher on the food chain I would have gotten some response. As of now, I will have to reconsider purchasing any new detector from them. Sad too because I'm very brand loyal. Unfortunately they don't seem customer loyal.
  13. It's been 8 days since I emailed Nokta. I gave them all the info on the problem and the serial number of my coil. Not a peep or response!!! about my coil issue. I never have not had acompany get back to you in 3 days, let alone 8. I guess we live in a throw away society, They make a great machine, But I do not need this poor service, Even the Georgia service center won't answer multiple phone calls. (wondering if its closed down) In the future I won't bother with the warranty, I'll just go purchase another item ( cheaper and faster that way, also less headaches). Luckily I can afford to do so, but I feel bad for the guy or gal who can't. I can't wait for the excuses I will hear, We are having problems due to covid, We are working on a limited staff, Our internet supplier is having problems. Anyone in a phone booth could respond to an email and give better service. I'm fine with not getting a warranty or service, Just tell me so I can keep on detecting without all the loss of time sending it back and forth. Our society has become accustom to poor service and bad warranty responses. REMEMBER WE SUPPORT YOU, THE LEAST YOU COULD DO IS SUPPORT US!!!! Tomorrow I will buy another 11'' coil for my MK and call it done. Anyone reading this post/rant, do not let this stop you from buying an MK or other Nokta detector they are top notch!!! I'm just bitching about bad customer service. I'm not the kind of guy who makes waves, But I've had enough of companies thinking its OK to NOT respond to a simple email. Customer service is the foundation of a great business.
  14. At this point here in PA, I'm tempted to buy propery somewhere near the arctic circle. Today was another 104 with the heat index.
  15. GB, I usually don't worry if on public ground, all municipalities require 36'' depth for cable and the appropriate conduit it goes in. Now for private property, I always keep note of light poles, feeds out of the house and barns, ect. That being said a lot of gypsie contractors will run what they can pry up with a shovel. Not that you don't already know, but when you get a shallow signal 3 feet to 20 feet long its a wire. I've only hit a couple of these in all the years and none have been hot. If you happen to dig one and nick it, and its 120v, it will give you a good scare, but wont kill you. 240v will really hurt and could potentially kill you. 480 and you will be a puff of smoke!!!. 90 percent of wire is just scrap discards from the job that someone didn't clean up. Great topic I'm glad you brought this up.
  16. Good job with the cleanup, Glad you still got some detecting in. Unfortunately bad behavior is on the rise.
  17. Welcome to the forum Mn Digger, This is a great place to find some answers or just comment on some really great topic's. You'll find a lot of great info and experience from everyone here on DP. I'm looking foward to some of your finds and posts.
  18. I do run the MK a little hot, but most times I'm at about 86 to 90 on the gain on 3 tone mode. There is no threshold adjustment on 3 tone. I've tried dropping to 70 on gain but still no correction in the performance. I'll try going through some other factory settings, and see if that helps with the knock sensitivity. Thanks Sven
  19. After the storm was over here in PA I was in the water too, Pumping 15'' of water out of my basement. You had much better luck than I did. Great job on the deco ring!! If the price was right I would replace the missing stones and try to sell it.
  20. You need to try LaCrosse Grange boots, run you about $80.00. One of the few boots that hold up to tough conditions. They are all rubber, not a neoprene/rubber hybrid. I bought a pair of Muck brand chore boots ($140.00) and was really dissapointed when they leaked at the transition. If you want a repair, good luck, most fixes last only a short while. Cleaning with acetone helps adhesion.
  21. I don't own a nox, But Kac is correct. Here in PA my MK murders silver at depths that still amaze me. The MK hits harder on silver and you have no doubt what the target is. The ability to flip flop tones on the MK allows you to focus and adjust for certain targets. I run a 35 on the non ferrous giving me a low tone on silver and copper, which I focus on most of the time. I run a 9'' concentric most of the time and can hit silver at 8 + inches without trying. I always try to remember that silver is where you find it. There is no magic bullet but the MK is close. Oh and if you like clad dimes be prepared to dig deep, This machine loves dimes silver or clad.
  22. I purchased the coil afterwards, stock coil was a 7x11. I emailed Nokta with serial number and problem, but did not get a response back yet. I love this coil even with the problems, but thinking it might be better without Ha Ha. Thanks for your help. I'll keep you posted on the results.
  23. I'll give it a try , but I don't have any problems with the other coils. That's what made me lean towards a bad coil. Thanks Sven
  24. Great finds Compass, The F on that ring stands for fabbuloso. Sometimes the late bird finds the worm!!!
  25. Sorry to hear about your situation. Look, I think we all encounter things like this, You have to stay on the positive side of the problem. Start thinking about property's you would like to hunt and just drive right up and ask!!! The worst they can say is no, now move on to the next maybe they will allow you to detect. In your profile you say you like to meet people, use that to your advantage. Offer help around an old property to gain permissions. There are tons of ways to find new places you just have to take a chance. I'll bet in no time your problems will be which place to hunt next. Good luck Rob!!!!
