  1. 14!!!!!! I was thinking your in your 20's. Son you have a lot of great days ahead of you. Be respectful of the people you meet and the places you hunt, And some of your best days and memories are to come. When I was your age hunting, fishing, trapping and digging old bottles were top priority, Many good memories still to this day. I'm so glad your here to be part of the next generation of detectors to advance our hobby. In another 50 years you will see what I'm talking about. Keep at it, you have a long and great road ahead!!!!!
  2. Great job!!!! That's one of my bucket list coins. A young friend of mine, who I introduced to detecting found one with his simplex the first time out. I think I was more excited than he was. That's just a tremendous find and hope you find some more.
  3. I'm glad your doing better!!! About 25 years ago, I suffered a mild heat stroke/low sodium event and it was not fun. Feeling like your brain is going to explode and you have cramps in places you didn't know could cramp. Nice to know A dozen IV bags will fix you up. still very scary. So glad your back in action, but take your time.
  4. Hey Kac, spinadiscmetaldetectors.com in the UK is the only place that has them in stock they are roughly $884 US, plus my guess another $50 to $100 for shipping. All of the US dealers don't even list them for sale, Maybe better to call to see if they actually can get it. The current exchange rate is $1.36 to the pound. For that cost it better be more than an average detector. This machine is is interesting to me, I'm going to talk to my friend in the UK and see if he has some insight on the shipping costs.
  5. GB, I forgot to mention another great site. aussiemetaldetecting.com They have Australian, UK and US head stamps. Hope this helps!!!
  6. Had another good day detecting a rather large hay field. I was using the new superfly coil on the MK, and most of my finds were all ammo related. I found 12 keepers which means no plastic. They range in age from 1920's to the 1940's. the best one, which I have never found before was a Winchester Nublack made from 1905 to 1938. The others were REM UMC 1915 to 1942, Winchester repeater 1896 to 1938, Winchester Leader 1933, Sears unknown 1920's to 1940's, Western Xpert 1914 to 1932. If you ever want to find the head stamp dates (Cartridge-corner.com) is the place to go. I hit up on some buckshot and a older rifled slug, AKA Pumpkin ball or as my dad would say Punkin ball. The rifled slug was developed by Wilhelm Brenneke in 1898, Karl Foster designed a similar slug in 1937 and patented in 1947. They are the ones you find in most brands today. Of course I found the wonderful 22. This round was developed in 1845 by Louis Nicolas Flobert and introduced in 1887. This was the first rimfire it was in 6mm. Union Metallic Cartridge Co. perfected the 22 in 1884, And "Voila" we have the best selling cartridge in the world. I saved the best for last because they have a great history. Finding three colonial musket balls in one field for me just does not happen. Two of them look fired the other was a drop. That ball is in beautiful shape, you can clearly see the sprue and the casting marks around the middle. I believe they are for the old and well distributed Brown Bess. It was produced from 1722 to 1838. Over 4,000,000 were made. This gun was used in every major conflict from the American Revolution to the American civil war. So the next time your out and find some boring old ammo, You just might find some cool history in your hand.
  7. Those are some nice finds, It's amazing how you forget the cold when your on the treasure.
  8. Not near release? The contest started in 2018. Maybe they decided to get a name first and design the machine around it. My guess is they are another 2 years out, And the competition will have chewed a big chunk out of the market (minelab) and most will wait to spend more money on another multi.
  9. Welcome Helen, Glad your here. Where you from ? That might help with pointing you in the gold detector direction, As Chase said you can maybe get more machine for less without Dropping $8000.00 . If your set on the GPZ 7000 you will find all the answers here. Good Luck
  10. I'm Liking a couple of names: WTL Multi (way to long), PPS PI (prolonged pain and suffering) My serious choice would be the (Legion), not sure if someone picked that? Sure would be nice to get some real answers on the product, even if they are another year down the road. A tease would be nice for all of us. At least we could have a grasp of hope. Garrett at least did that with the Apex.
  11. Great job and great attitude!!! Looks like you haven't lost the detecting touch. There is nothing like detecting to help boost good thoughts and well being. Keep them coming, Just remember all finds are good finds. Thank you for sharing your finds and your story.
  12. I don't think you can go wrong with the smaller DD coil from Nel, they make some really great coils. I'm a huge fan of concentric coils and would love to see more options from all the Mfg's. I still run my 5'' Campadre and love it. Recently I picked up a superfly for my Kruzer and can't believe the performance over factory. Glad to see you are enjoying the Apex. I wish you good luck with the new set up.
  13. Welcome doc, Nice button. It shouldn't be to hard to find someone close by, We have members everywhere. Keep posting the finds, we love to see new stuff.
  14. After seeing a new post from others and NM about some new accessories, I started to ponder the old naming contest about a new multi freq. detector. We all have posted our thoughts and hopes on this new multi and a PI. First question, Did anyone win the contest? The date of start for said contest was September 21, 2018. That's 1014 days since its start. I'm not the smartest, But you would think you had the product developed and ready for the winning name, To give you some time for marketing. Lets say a year for printing, adds and a selling platform. (Frustrated) I know we all have said it just takes TIME, We want to see what the competition puts out first so we can make a better product. Blah, Blah. A lot of people participated in the contest hoping to actually name a new detector. (How cool would that be). It feels like NM left a lot of people hanging with a great marketing idea that just won't happen. I'm hoping this is not the case, I would love to see one of our members name a detector. I love my Kruzer and wouldn't trade it for anything,But after drifting through some of NM's Time lines, I'm wondering how much longer? September 21, 2018 - Naming Contest October 8, 2020 - Missouri service center February 28, 2019 - Georgia service center October 26, 2020 - New thermal thermometer April 2, 2019 - pulse dive scuba November 26, 2020 - Sand Scoop July 31, 2019 - Simplex + January 11, 2021 - back pack and pp holster (no pricing) July 7, 2020 - mini and midi hoard I was just wondering out loud here, Has anyone heard any vaguery, innuendo, hints, insinuation, or whisper of any new detector coming from NM? To quote Simon (How long is too long) . AFTER 1014 DAYS I think it might be time to give some answers. Your thoughts and whispers are welcome to my ears
  15. I'm interested in both, Any price or release date? I can't seem to find anyone stocking these items.
  16. Love the Seated dime, it looks pretty crisp. I think the water up there might be mostly muriatic acid. Ha Ha Those poor coppers took it tough. Good job!!!
  17. Thanks Joe, My luck they only carry plastic. I'll look for pieces of Louis Vuitton on the trail, but I would probably just run into my wife. She said my new Nel coil looks just like her $750 Christian Louboutin shoes, I asked you don't actually wear those outside? She just rolled her eyes and said you just wouldn't understand. I'm going to try that with my next detector purchase, I'm thinking that won't work out the same way.
  18. When I was a kid in the 70's, we walked the old railroad tracks and found loads of those glass looking moon rocks. I wish I had kept some, But mom thought it was clutter. Sorry to say, but it looks just like slag. Keep on looking and asking You just might find the real thing.
  19. Odd tones are your friend, 99% of the time it's crap, But it's the 1% that makes your day.
  20. 2021 is starting out to be Not to bad (fingers crossed). Yesterday started out kinda cold and damp, but warmed up to around 54 at 11:30am. I told my wife I'd be back by 3 for Sunday roast chicken and mashed potatoes. I decided to hunt a patch of woods that had an early house that was razed in 1973. (second run at this place). The ground here is infested with iron, aluminum and copper flashing. I entered in and saw what seemed to be the skull of the Devil, a little off putting to say the least. It was the oddest deer skull I've ever encountered. Thinking this might be a bad omen I proceeded on. 1 crap target, 2 crap targets, old trap tag (OK). I've always had good luck detecting deer trails, so hit the closest one. The first 5 feet and boom, a solid copper coin tone. First coin a 1896 Indian Head. Good day already accomplished. Fifty yards away I got a weird 47-56 id on the machine, I almost didn't dig it, but it had that good coin tone. At 9 inches I had my doubt's for a coin, But when it popped out at 11, I almost fell over. This turned out to be an 1864, Which would explain the odd ID numbers. The rest of the time was uneventful, but that really didn't matter. I had two old coins in the bag and a great Sunday dinner and the Devil didn't ruin any of it.
  21. First things first, The ring is awesome. As for the aluminium tokens. The DeSoto Square token is from a Mall in Manatee County Florida built in 1973. The Venus token (Krewe of Venus) is from a cultural awareness organization founded in 1965. They are based in Tampa, and as far as I can tell still operating on very little funds. Hope this can help solve the mystery
  22. NICE, Here in my part of PA. the coinstar machines went the way of the dodo. I think they got tired of the pocket lint clogging the machines. Now I have to count and wrap and drag to the bank, which is good because they can't see how bad those coins look. Great haul, now just don't show that receipt to your better half. HaHa
