I have a slight issue with my 11'' coil. Almost from day one it does not pin point in the center of the coil. It was about 2'' toward the nose, not that big a deal at the time. Now it hits anywhere on the whole edge, which means I have a 11'' pinpoint spot. This is very hard to find center target now. Also it is becoming knock sensitive on grass and gets a little chattery even on good solid targets. This coil is only about 4 months old. That being said who should I contact first, Nokta or the service center in Georgia? Anyone have any experience sending stuff back?

Update, Went back to the merc spot a little while ago. The heat index here is 105F. I swung for all of about 20 minutes ( this heat is bad ) and found a rosevelt at the 9 inch mark. Had the 11 inch coil on, must have missed it with the 9. Oddly enough I found a Rose bush tag, Must have been a rosie kinda day 😂

Great story and finds, sounds like you might need some advil. Nothing better than a beach with the moon, stars and a little bit O treasure. 150 holes, you my friend have some stamina!!! I would have called it a night at 75. Great stuff!!!!

Holy (#**#) That is stunning to say the least!!! I have always marvled at europe's broad and rich history. Those finds remind all of us how awesome the ancient times were, and its nice to see some of it come to life through your spectacular finds.

I decided to avoid heat stroke today by hunting at 6am. Went to an old farm pond close to a 1840's house. The old pond was a swimming hole for the owners back in the day. I was finding the usual farm debris when I got a really great hit. To my suprise out popped a 1945 Merc, but that wasn't all, four wheaties were keeping it company. I haven't found a merc in quite awhile and was wondering if I would ever find another. Two seconds after I filled that hole, I hit on a buffalo nickle. A little later I collected two more wheaties and three plain lincolns, a shotgun case, a giant 3 1/2'' brass ring and an unknown brass valve thingamajig. Any clues let me know, It has the word MAJOCA on the side. Overall I'm rating this as a damn good morning!!!

Glad your here bill, When I was a kid I lived with my sister in SD for a while. My favorite place was la jolla, best place to see the sunset!!! Also SD zoo is the best in the country. Looking forward to your finds and posts.

I'm not sure depth for me maters that much. Most of my good and bad finds are between 4'' and 9''. My MK with the 9'' concentric coil can hit a modern clad dime at a solid 11'' to 13''. I often dream about whats at the 15'' to 20'' depth but shake myself out of the delerium, when I realize how big that hole would have to be to extract said object. I'm not fond of lost permissions for digging a giant hole in someone's yard or park. There are a couple of things that matter to me most. One is unmasking, Two is tone and Three are ID number's, which I only use for rough verification. I've dug every ID number known to mankind and have been elated and disapointed. In my opinion digging by numbers will leave alot of good stuff still to be found. What I think it all comes down to, is knowing and learning your detectors and soil conditions, with the caveate being Terrain. Old camp sites and trails require some thought on where to navigate through the woods. Humans are inherently smart and lazy at the same time, if that makes sense. That being said knowing where to hunt vs not, will change some of your depth strategy. You could have a coil that goes deep in a place with with nothing there and find nothing. Hit another with the same coil and find great stuff at 5''. That large coil will not gain you depth with nothing in the ground. The tech has changed but the basics have not. I think alot of people get wrapped up in the latest and greatest new tech and forget the basics on which this hobby was started. Most of us found a fair amount of cool stuff with some ancient detectors. I think maybe we should leave a few things buried for future detectors to enjoy. I'm pretty happy with where I'm at in the hobby and still learn every time I'm out.

WOW thats a spectacular find. Ruled for less than 4 years and was assasinated at age 28, Hard to believe they even had time to mint a coin in his likeness. great job.

Some good finds. Last time I was in water that color, I had leaches stuck to parts I would not describe. Was the pipe and bottles just laying on the bottom, or did they come up with other targets? Seems like a good way to beat the heat.

Is lesche the best? well I'm not sure if any one digger is the best depending on ground conditions and physical capabilities. I have used homemade, lesche, and a bunch of imports. Can't say I didn't have to modify all of them. My wrists are not the best due to 39 years of construction work. I have had to use straight handled designs only due to thats whats available, and they seem to be the only design made. A couple of month's ago I PM'ed Kac about something he found and we discussed diggers and he described one he made . I will tell you that his digger is much better on the wrist. (at least for me). This digger is my only choice for detecting on my area's. I like it so much he's going to design a light weight, tall hybrid shovel for me. These things are small, light weight and tough. Reach out and talk to him, Made in the USA, Forum member and a great product. I can't promise this will be great for you but at least talk to him for input.

Great job on the wheatie, Just remember the more you look ,the more you find. I can tell you that you will always remember that first coin. Glad your finding stuff and we are all excited to see the next bunch of coins. Don't forget the trash, I like to validate that all of us dig the beloved aluminium and iron. And for GB's sake I will include Zincoln's, It's his favorite coin!!! 😂

I would ask you to take a little break from being discouraged. A couple of things i'll let you know about me. I have a full time job and lots of interests. There are times I can not or do not go detecting for quite some time, but when I do its very cathartic. I enjoy finding the good with the bad. Everyone on this site finds hundreds of pounds of trash before finding something really awesome. I might be wrong but I'm pretty sure most here at DP do not detect full time, but I'm 100% sure we all do it for the same reason. It's the feeling you get when you find something you have never found before, or a piece of history thats been in the ground for a century and your the first person to reach down and hold it in your hand and wonder how it got there. (Food for thought) Try asking some of your friends who you share the other hobbies with if they have or know someone who has a property you can hunt. That way you open the door to finding some better spots. More spots = more chances of finding better things. Networking in life can produce some really great results, wether it be higher paying job, leads on some of your other endeavers or just meeting new people who you enjoy. I always some how manage to mix my hobbies to make each one better, I hope you can do the same. Take your time and focus on the the good not the bad.

I agree but it might be a great TV show, More productive than Oak Island. At least you would find stuff And Maybe we could call it Sand Sifter!!!😃 And of course Sand Sifter California/Australia/New Jersey/Florida ect. ect. I'm thinking you could be Famous!!!

If your looking for maximum finds with less effort I would buy one of these Barber rakes. 😂 🤣 I saw these down on Virginia beach. I can't imagine how many good things these guy's find every day. This can cover a serious amount of ground.

I did a little research and found out they made 7,000,000 of that coin. Also it went out of circulation in the late 80's. very cool find, I would hit that place again!!!

Welcome Larry, You have joined a great bunch detectors. Like Joe D said give us a little info on the where and what your detecting. There are a bunch of great detectors on the market, minelab is only one (please don't beat me up for that guy's). Honestly we don't care what you swing but we will help you decide based on quality and budget. But most of all we want to see you do well with the hobby. Please post some of the stuff you have found over the years, We would love to see it. So glad your here!!!

Great find, I sure wish I had some play time. Been hot as hell where I'm at, But that explains why you hunt the water, staying cool one ring at a time. Keep them coming!!!
